Overview

Founded in 2018, Cube brings business data into a governed layer and syncs it into the tools finance teams already use. The aim is to make planning and analysis work from consistent data without forcing teams to abandon their existing work surfaces. This is a practical fit for organizations with established spreadsheet habits and multiple source systems, though teams should weigh the custom-priced model against their budget and procurement needs.

Cube covers budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, variance analysis, workforce planning, financial consolidation, and forecast-versus-actuals analysis. Its planning breadth makes it more than a reporting layer: finance teams can use it across recurring planning and analysis work, including root-cause investigation and transaction-level drill-down.

Key features

Planning on governed data

Cube combines forecasting and scenario modeling with root-cause variance analysis, natural-language queries, and drill-down to general ledger transactions. That range is useful when finance teams need to move from a variance signal to its underlying transactions, rather than stopping at a summary. The governed data layer is central to the proposition: it helps align planning and reporting with connected business data.

Connections and work surfaces

Cube connects with systems including NetSuite, Salesforce, Workday, Sage Intacct, Snowflake, ADP, QuickBooks, and HubSpot. It also says it can build custom connectors to nearly any system or flat file, which can help teams whose stack extends beyond standard integrations. Finance users can work through Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Slack, and Teams, preserving familiar workflows instead of requiring every task to happen in a separate application.

AI access, controls, and audit

The Cube MCP Server makes decision-ready data accessible through Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot, and MCP is included in every tier. Role-based access extends across the app, connected spreadsheets, and reports; Cube says its AI agents inherit the permissions of the user asking. Queries, answers, publishes, and denied actions are logged with the user, permission scope, and sources used. Those controls matter for teams balancing AI access with governed finance data.

Cube states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and HIPAA compliant, with data encrypted in transit and at rest on AWS infrastructure. These security and access controls strengthen its fit for organizations that need explicit permissions and traceable activity around financial workflows.

Pricing

Cube is paid software with custom pricing; request a quote to establish the cost. Bronze, Silver, and Gold all include full Cube Platform Access, custom roles, unlimited dimensions and users, and unlimited dashboards. The unlimited user allowance is a notable fit for broad collaboration, but does not remove the need to confirm the commercial terms.

Bronze: Includes the shared platform, role customization, dimensions, users, and dashboards. It is the entry tier for teams that do not need the additional Slack or Teams integration and workflow automation listed for Silver.
Silver: Adds Slack and Teams integration and workflow automation to Bronze’s core package. It is the clearest fit for teams that want collaboration and repeatable processes connected to planning work.
Gold: Includes the same stated features as Silver and adds Premium Support. It is the option for teams that value that support level; the published feature set does not establish a further functional step over Silver.

Premium Support+ is an add-on available with any plan. Buyers should compare its support terms with Gold’s Premium Support and confirm which level fits their operating needs. No free plan or trial terms are stated in Cube’s plan information.

Platforms

Cube is available on web and through an API. The listed work surfaces include Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Slack, and Teams, giving finance teams several ways to access workflows without relying solely on the web application.

Who it's for

Cube is best suited to finance teams that need a broad FP&A toolkit, governed data across connected systems, and continued use of spreadsheets or collaboration tools. Its stated customers span software, retail, manufacturing, and nonprofits, suggesting the platform is intended for varied sector needs. Teams looking for transparent, published plan prices should look elsewhere or be prepared to seek a custom quote.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad planning coverage spans budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, consolidation, scenarios, and variance analysis, supporting multiple finance workflows in one platform.
Pros: Spreadsheet and presentation integrations, plus Slack and Teams options, preserve familiar work surfaces for finance and collaborators.
Pros: Role-based access, permission-inheriting AI agents, and logged actions give teams concrete controls and traceability around governed data.
Cons: Custom pricing makes it harder to assess affordability before engaging with Cube.
Cons: Silver and Gold share the listed integrations and workflow automation; Gold’s stated distinction is Premium Support, so its extra value depends on support needs.

For teams comparing budgeting, forecasting, and performance-management options, relevant directories include Nonprofit Budgeting Software, Budgeting Software, Management Reporting Software, Forecasting Software, Corporate Performance Management Software, and Financial Forecasting Software.

Epicor Kinetic is a paid platform spanning mobile, web, API, self-hosted, and Windows environments, with platform core, cloud package, concurrent-user licenses, and industry bundles. Consider it when those deployment and packaging choices are a closer fit than Cube’s finance-centered stack.
OneStream is a paid platform with web, mobile, API, self-hosted, and Windows availability; its platform pricing is discussed through a demo request. It is an option for teams evaluating a broad platform through a demo-led buying process.
Workday Adaptive Planning has a 30-day free trial and supports web, mobile, API, macOS, and Windows. Choose it when trial access or that platform coverage is a priority for evaluation.
Budgyt offers a nonprofit plan from 399.00 USD per month, billed annually, with price scaling by departments or programs, unlimited users, and a one-time setup. Nonprofits seeking a stated starting price and a plan explicitly tailored to their sector may prefer it.
Euna Budget is a web-based option with enterprise and professional plans. Consider it as another budgeting platform to evaluate.
Board is a paid, self-hosted platform with customized-quote plans. It is an alternative for buyers specifically seeking self-hosted deployment.
Epicor FP&A offers plans ranging from one company to broader company coverage, including an enterprise tier. It is worth comparing when the number of companies covered is a key selection criterion.
Jedox is a web platform with Business and Professional plans; the Business tier includes full users and basic models, with optional planners, viewers, connectors, and upgrades. Consider it when a modular user and connector configuration is appealing.

Verdict

Cube is a strong fit for finance teams that want substantial FP&A coverage on governed data while keeping spreadsheets and collaboration tools in the workflow. Its permission-aware AI access and audit trail give the platform a clear control story. Look elsewhere if published pricing is essential to shortlisting, or if Gold’s support distinction does not justify a custom quote over Silver.
