Overview

Culture Amp is an employee experience platform for engagement, performance management, and employee development. It is best suited to HR teams and people leaders who want these workflows connected; its breadth is compelling, but annual custom pricing makes budget fit a key decision.

Key features

Engage combines survey templates, pulse surveys, onboarding and offboarding surveys, benchmarking, AI comment summaries, and action plans. The range supports a feedback cycle that can lead from gathering responses to planning action. Logic branching and response analytics add control over survey flows and ways to interpret answers, making Engage more substantial than a basic survey tool.

Perform brings together continuous feedback, performance reviews and calibration, 1-on-1 conversations, development plans, goal management, and performance insights. That connected scope suits organizations trying to coordinate performance and development practices. Teams looking only for employee surveys may find this broader platform unnecessary.

AI Coach is included in every plan and is built into Engage and Perform to provide insights, guidance, and tailored action plans. Its inclusion across plans means access is not tied to a particular product choice.

Culture Amp lists HRIS integrations, Pave for compensation, Slack and Microsoft Teams for flow-of-work features, and LifeLabs Learning and Go1 for learning resources. Its Developer API supports connecting people data to other systems and bespoke analysis, a useful option for teams fitting workforce data into an existing stack. The company says it encrypts data at rest and in transit and uses AWS and Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Its pricing page lists GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001, and SOC II Type I; every plan includes GDPR and SOC2 compliance. Every customer also gets 24/5 chat and email support, on-demand training resources, and support guides.

Pricing

Culture Amp is paid software with custom pricing. All products are billed annually, and pricing depends on employee count, product, and service tier, so buyers should request a quote against their intended scope and renewal budget.

Plan	What it includes	Who it suits
Engage	Custom pricing, billed annually; quote required.	Organizations prioritizing engagement surveys and related workflows.
Perform	Custom pricing, billed annually; quote required.	Organizations seeking performance and development workflows.
People Science Consulting	Custom pricing, billed annually; add-on to Engage and Perform.	Customers who want consulting alongside either core product.

The pricing page groups customers as small and medium organizations with fewer than 200 employees, organizations with 200–999 employees, and enterprises with 1,000 or more. Because product choice, headcount, and service tier all affect the quote, buyers should compare the scope they need rather than assume a fixed per-seat price.

Platforms

Culture Amp is available on the web and through an API. The API is relevant for teams that need to connect people data or conduct bespoke analysis; the listed integrations also offer routes into HRIS, compensation, collaboration, and learning workflows.

Who it's for

Culture Amp is aimed at people leaders and HR teams, with solutions also presented for HR executives, CFOs, and CIOs. It is a stronger fit for organizations ready to bring engagement and performance work into a shared platform than for buyers who need only a narrow survey or review tool. Its employee-count groupings span smaller organizations through enterprise, while annual quote-based pricing makes procurement and scope-setting part of the decision.

Pros and cons

Pro: Engage combines multiple survey types with benchmarking, response analytics, AI comment summaries, and action plans, linking feedback collection to follow-up.
Pro: Perform spans reviews, calibration, feedback, goals, and development plans, which can support a connected performance process.
Pro: The Developer API and named integrations provide options for connecting people data with other systems and workplace tools.
Pro: AI Coach and 24/5 chat and email support are included in every plan, alongside on-demand training resources and support guides.
Con: Annual billing and quote-based prices make cost harder to compare upfront and require buyers to establish their product and service scope.
Con: The platform's combined engagement and performance scope may be more than teams seeking a focused survey capability need.

Alternatives

For a different approach to employee engagement, compare Motivosity, Perceptyx, StaffCircle, Inpulse, Actimo, Tap My Back, Officevibe, and Microsoft Viva Glint.

Employee Engagement Software is the relevant category for comparing engagement-focused products; HR Analytics Software and Workforce Analytics Software are useful when workforce data analysis is the priority. For people-experience and performance-focused comparisons, see Employee Experience Management Software and Performance Management Software. Teams evaluating job structures can also compare Job Architecture Software.

Verdict

Culture Amp is a strong fit for HR teams and people leaders that want engagement, performance, and development workflows in one platform, with an API and integrations to connect people data. Choose it for that breadth and the included AI Coach; look elsewhere if you need a narrower tool or cannot commit to annual billing and a custom quote.
