Overview

PDFs, text, images, handwritten notes, YouTube links, and Anki decks can all feed StudyGlen’s study workflows. Quiz inputs include PDFs up to 20MB, text up to 20,000 characters, images processed with OCR, and YouTube URLs analyzed through captions. This makes it useful when material is spread across formats, rather than confined to a typed prompt or existing deck.

Quiz generation supports 41 content languages with localized AI explanations, while the interface is available in 13 languages. A five-question quiz trial requires no account or card, so prospective users can assess the generation workflow before committing. StudyGlen is operated by Tuncay Technologies Ltd in the UK and says it is GDPR compliant. Uploaded PDFs, text, and images are removed from active systems after processing, although backups may persist for up to 30 days.

Key features

Quizzes, flashcards, and Anki

Flashcards support basic and cloze deletion cards, FSRS spaced repetition, and smart, sequential, and shuffle study modes. StudyGlen imports .apkg, .colpkg, .txt, .csv, and .tsv files and preserves Anki’s SM-2 scheduling. That is a meaningful advantage for people migrating or supplementing an established Anki collection; the five-import daily free cap is a constraint for larger transfers.

Comics, live sessions, and exports

The comic generator creates scripts, characters, dialogue, and scenes in cartoon, anime, watercolor, realistic, or sketch styles. It adds a more visual study format, but the free plan’s single lifetime comic makes it a sample rather than an ongoing free feature. Live quiz competitions allow unlimited hosting, real-time leaderboards, and require no credits, a useful counterweight to the credit limits for generated materials.

Quizzes can be exported without charge or stated limits to PDF, Word, CSV, Anki (.apkg), and QTI, with direct import into Canvas and Moodle. Those options make StudyGlen easier to fit into an existing classroom or revision workflow instead of locking generated work inside the service. On iOS and Android, quizzes and flashcards work offline, with ratings syncing when connectivity returns.

Pricing

StudyGlen combines a free daily allowance with one-time credit packs rather than a recurring paid subscription. One study credit generates one complete quiz or flashcard deck, and paid credits do not expire. Each paid pack includes five regenerations per day, compared with two on the free plan.

Plan	Price and terms	Includes	Best fit
Free Forever	0.00 USD per free	One quiz or flashcard per day, one lifetime comic, two question regenerations per day; no card required	Occasional use or trying the formats
Mini Pack	4.99 USD per once	10 study credits, five regenerations per day; credits never expire	Infrequent paid generation without a subscription
Starter Pack	9.99 USD per once	30 study credits, one comic credit, five regenerations per day; credits never expire	Regular study generation with a first paid comic
Plus Pack	24.99 USD per once	100 study credits, three comic credits, five regenerations per day; credits never expire	Higher-volume use with several comics
Pro Pack	49.99 USD per once	300 study credits, five comic credits, five regenerations per day; credits never expire	Largest listed credit pool for sustained use

The free tier’s one daily quiz or deck and two regenerations can suit light revision, but it is a narrow allowance for exam preparation or frequent content creation. Packs remove expiration pressure and bundle comic credits at the larger tiers, while users who need ongoing high volume should weigh the finite credit balances against the one-time purchase model. Five Anki imports per day remain free, and quiz exports are free without stated limits, so importing and distributing existing work do not consume study credits.

Platforms

StudyGlen runs on web, iOS, and Android. The mobile apps support quiz and flashcard study offline and synchronize ratings after reconnection, which helps learners continue reviewing without reliable connectivity. The stated platform range covers common personal study devices, though it does not include a listed API platform.

Who it's for

Students preparing for exams, including medical and nursing students, and language learners can benefit from generating practice from documents, images, or video. Teachers can use exports for Canvas or Moodle and host live competitions without spending credits. Anki users have a particularly clear reason to consider it: imports retain SM-2 scheduling, and generated quizzes or cards can be exported back to Anki. It is a weaker fit for anyone who needs generous free daily generation or wants comic creation without a paid credit allocation.

Pros and cons

Broad source and export support: Multiple input types feed quizzes and cards, while five export formats and direct Canvas and Moodle import support handoff to other study systems.
Anki continuity: Imports preserve SM-2 scheduling, reducing the friction of bringing an existing collection into a new workflow.
Flexible study formats: FSRS cards, comics, and credit-free live hosting give learners and educators options beyond quiz generation.
Strict free generation ceiling: One daily quiz or deck, two regenerations, and one lifetime comic make the free plan more suitable for sampling than regular intensive study.
Credits govern paid generation: One credit buys one complete quiz or deck, so high-volume users need to track a finite balance even though credits never expire.
Upload retention has a backup window: Active copies are deleted after processing, but backups may persist for up to 30 days.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Flashcard apps, AI Flashcard Generators, or AI Study Tools.

Choose Brainscape if pre-loaded flashcards or a yearly Pro plan with unlimited AI flashcard creation better match the workflow. RemNote is another free option, with annotated PDFs, image occlusion cards, handwritten documents, and monthly AI credits in its free plan. Recall suits readers looking for a free allowance of three decks and 300 cards, with a Pro tier described as offering unlimited decks and cards. Jambo is worth considering for its free allocation of 2,000 cards, 15 decks, and daily AI generations and translations. Gizmo offers a listed 365-day subscription plan. Mindomax is a macOS alternative with a free plan for one box and unlimited cards. Quizlet is an alternative for learners seeking practice tests and Learn questions. Knowt may suit teams seeking file creation, live collaboration, and storage in its Basic plan.

Verdict

StudyGlen is a strong fit for students and educators who want source-to-study generation, Anki continuity, and practical export paths in one tool. Its most persuasive advantages are the breadth of inputs and outputs and the one-time packs with credits that do not expire. Look elsewhere if your routine requires a high volume of free generation or a larger free comic allowance.
