Overview

Degreed brings employee learning and workforce skills data into a single enterprise-oriented offering. Degreed Learning supports development plans, pathways, and workflow automation, while Skills+ analyzes and normalizes skill data, maps gaps, and supports reporting and skill inference. That breadth makes it relevant when learning programs need to serve workforce development goals, not simply distribute content.

The platform is positioned for onboarding, upskilling, reskilling, and wider workforce development. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Pleasanton, California, Degreed offers both a free plan and custom bundles, but its enterprise products and services are priced according to company, needs, budget, and headcount. That leaves buyers without a fixed enterprise price to compare before discussing scope.

Key features

Personalized learning and skills analysis

Personalized plans and pathways give organizations a way to organize development around learner needs, while Skills+ adds normalized skill data, gap mapping, reporting, and inference. This pairing is useful when teams want to relate learning activity to workforce skills. If the need is only a basic content portal without skills analysis, the platform’s wider scope may be more than necessary.

AI, cohorts, and content formats

Degreed describes AI-powered recommendations, conversational coaching, skill inference, and assessments. These capabilities support discovery and skills development within the platform, although the offer is not a substitute for a buyer’s own definition of the skills it needs to build. Degreed Academies adds cohort-based learning with due dates, prerequisites, projects, feedback, peer discussions, and live or asynchronous training. That structure can support guided programs; organizations that do not need cohorts may not benefit from that added breadth.

Multi-source, multi-format content and personalized paths support different learning approaches. The 800+ integrations cited for Degreed Learning, including Slack and Microsoft Teams, can help fit learning into existing workflows. A browser extension captures and shares resources, and an API connects to LMS, HCM, and other platforms, making the product more relevant to teams integrating it with an existing stack than to buyers seeking an isolated app.

Security and support

Degreed states that customer data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2. Its trust center describes Azure hosting across the United States, Europe, and Canada, and says SOC 2 Type II reports and other security documents can be requested. The pricing page lists 24/7 customer support; the Knowledge Center provides guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting resources. These are useful provisions for enterprise deployment, while buyers needing to review compliance documentation should request it directly.

Pricing

Degreed uses a freemium model and offers a free plan. Its paid option, Custom Degreed bundle, has custom pricing based on company, needs, budget, and headcount; contact Degreed for pricing. It includes enterprise products and services, with custom bundles available. The free plan gives buyers a way to start without a quoted bundle, but the supplied plan terms do not establish its feature scope or caps, so it is not possible to judge how far it can carry an organizational program.

Custom pricing can align a package to a company’s scale and requirements, but it also makes budget comparisons and purchase planning harder than a published per-seat rate. Teams should clarify bundle scope and costs before treating the free plan as a route to a full enterprise deployment.

Platforms

Degreed supports web, Android, and iOS, alongside an API and browser extension. Mobile apps extend access beyond desktop workflows, while the API and extension serve distinct integration and resource-sharing needs. xAPI support and multi-format content also make the platform pertinent to organizations working across learning systems and content types.

Who it's for

Degreed is best suited to enterprise organizations coordinating employee onboarding, upskilling, reskilling, or broader workforce development. It is a stronger fit when teams need both structured learning and a view of skills and gaps, especially where existing LMS, HCM, or collaboration platforms should remain part of the stack. Small teams seeking a transparent fixed price, or organizations wanting only a simple course-delivery tool, should compare narrower options before committing to a custom bundle.

Pros and cons

Pros: Personalized pathways and cohort-based Academies support both self-directed and structured development programs.
Pros: Skills+ combines skill normalization, gap mapping, reporting, and inference, tying learning to workforce-skills needs.
Pros: 800+ integrations, an API, and a browser extension support connection to existing platforms and resource workflows.
Pros: Web, mobile apps, and xAPI support give organizations several ways to fit learning into their environment.
Cons: Custom bundle pricing makes enterprise costs difficult to compare or forecast without contacting Degreed.
Cons: The enterprise breadth may be unnecessary for buyers who need only a straightforward learning portal.
Cons: Buyers cannot determine the free plan’s caps or feature scope from its stated terms, limiting its value as a basis for estimating a full rollout.

Alternatives

Consider these options if their pricing model or stated plan terms better match your buying constraints:

360Learning is worth comparing for teams that want a paid option with a free trial and a Team plan billed monthly for active users, up to 100 users, at 8.00 USD per month. Its active-user billing and cancel-anytime terms offer a more defined starting point than Degreed’s custom bundle.
Rhapsode offers custom licensing, with terms that can be based on users, courses, or revenue share. It is an option when that licensing flexibility is more important than Degreed’s stated learning-and-skills combination.
Valamis Learning Platform is worth assessing if a paid platform with a free trial and an AI-oriented Foundation plan is a closer fit; its stated plan includes AI-powered content creation tools and AI-Insights reporting analytics.
AgenticLXP may suit buyers seeking a paid platform with a free trial and a defined Basic plan: 880.00 EUR per month, billed by monthly active users, with 250 MAU included.
Disprz is a comparison point for teams seeking a paid learning plan starting at 2.00 USD per month per learner, with AI-powered learning management and multiple training formats.
Rise Up LXP is another paid option, with a stated 2.00 GBP per month plan using annual licensing and aimed primarily at organizations and training providers with more than 300 learners.
Thrive is an alternative to consider alongside Degreed.
CYPHER Learning is an alternative to consider alongside Degreed.

Verdict

Choose Degreed when an enterprise needs personalized learning, structured cohorts, and workforce-skills analysis connected to its existing systems. Its strongest reason to buy is the breadth of that learning-and-skills combination; its main drawback is that custom pricing makes the cost and package harder to evaluate upfront. Buyers with a narrower learning need or a requirement for predictable published pricing should look elsewhere.
