Overview

SigNoz brings logs, metrics, traces and exceptions into a shared workspace, with explorers and alerting across those signals. Because it is OpenTelemetry-native and does not require proprietary agents, instrumentation can remain vendor-free. That makes it a strong fit for teams that want flexibility at the collection layer; teams seeking a turnkey managed service without usage-based charges should weigh the cloud costs carefully.

Application monitoring includes p99 latency, error rate, Apdex and operations-per-second charts, alongside database and external-call monitoring. Distributed traces can be inspected through flamegraph and Gantt views to follow requests across services. The combination supports investigation from service-level performance to request paths without limiting teams to a single signal type.

Key features

Cross-signal investigation

The Query Builder offers aggregations, filters and formulas across signal types, while custom dashboards can combine metrics, logs and trace data. This is useful when teams need to shape views around their services rather than keep separate dashboards for each telemetry category. Threshold, anomaly and Apdex-based alerts cover different ways of spotting signal changes.

Storage and integrations

ClickHouse underpins telemetry queries and storage, with hot and cold storage tiers intended to balance query speed and storage cost. The integrations directory spans 45 integrations, including Temporal, databases and major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and GCP. That breadth helps teams connect common infrastructure, though the count alone does not establish support for every stack.

Pricing

The self-hosted Community edition costs 0.00 USD per free. It leaves infrastructure, storage, scaling, upgrades and backups to the user, making it the cost-conscious route for teams equipped to operate the stack themselves.

SigNoz Cloud for Startups costs 19.00 USD per month, billed for the first 12 months, with $19 of telemetry usage included. Eligibility is limited to companies less than 3 years old, with fewer than 30 employees and less than $6 million raised. This is a lower-cost managed entry point for qualifying early-stage teams, but its introductory term and eligibility conditions matter.

SigNoz Cloud (Teams) costs 49.00 USD per month, billed at a $49/month minimum, with $49 usage included. Additional telemetry is charged at $0.30/GB for logs, $0.30/GB for traces and $0.10/mn samples for metrics. Unlimited teammates and hosts suit teams that do not want seat or host counts to constrain collaboration, though signal charges make usage an important part of the bill. Teams support is available through in-product chat, email and Slack. New users can access all cloud features free for 30 days.

SigNoz Enterprise starts at 4000.00 USD per month. It includes Cloud Dedicated, BYOC, self-hosted enterprise support, volume discounts, annual contracts and dedicated support. This is aimed at organizations needing deployment and support options beyond the standard cloud tier, rather than smaller teams seeking a low minimum.

Platforms

SigNoz is available for Android, iOS, API and web, with self-hosted deployment options for Docker, Docker Swarm and Kubernetes. Its deployment model is hybrid, pairing managed cloud with self-management. SigNoz Cloud is SOC2 Type II and HIPAA compliant, with data centers in the United States, European Union and India.

Who it's for

SigNoz is a good match for engineering teams that want OpenTelemetry-based monitoring across services and infrastructure, especially when they value cross-signal querying and control over deployment. Self-hosting suits teams prepared to own operations; Cloud Teams suits groups preferring a managed service with unlimited teammates and hosts. It is less compelling for teams that cannot manage infrastructure but also need predictable costs independent of telemetry volume.

Pros and cons

Pros

OpenTelemetry-native collection avoids proprietary agents and supports vendor-free instrumentation.
Logs, metrics, traces and exceptions share explorers, dashboards and alerting, helping teams connect related evidence during investigations.
Self-hosting, cloud and enterprise deployment options give teams meaningful control over operational responsibility.
Cloud Teams includes unlimited teammates and hosts, avoiding per-seat and per-host constraints.

Cons

Community is free software but not free to operate: users cover infrastructure, storage, scaling, upgrades and backups.
Cloud Teams has a $49/month minimum and separate telemetry rates, so the minimum is not a cap on spend.
The Startup price applies only for the first 12 months and only to companies meeting the age, headcount and funding thresholds.

Alternatives

Consider Honeycomb if its free tier fits your event and metrics volumes: it includes up to 20M events/month, 100M metrics data points/month and two triggers; its Pro plan costs 150.00 USD p.

Uptrace is another freemium option, with 50 GB free/month and then $0.075/GB, plus unlimited users, services and hosts. Choose it if that allowance and pricing model better fit your telemetry volume.

For a free, self-hosted open-source observability platform, Apache SkyWalking is an alternative to consider.

Jaeger is a free, 100% open-source, cloud-native project with self-hosted deployment, suited to teams seeking that approach.

Middleware offers a free tier with up to 100GB data, 1k RUM sessions, 20k synthetic checks, 10 browser test runs and 2 million…; consider it if those included limits suit your needs.

Elastic Observability is a paid alternative with a free plan and usage-based logs and traces ingest starting at $0.09/… .

Blackfire.io is a paid alternative with a Development plan at 33.25 EUR per month, billed yearly, for one user and one Sandbox environment.

Sematext APM offers a paid Tracing plan at 19.00 USD per month, starting with 2M spans/day and one-day Basic retention.

Verdict

Choose SigNoz if your team wants vendor-neutral OpenTelemetry instrumentation, unified telemetry investigation and a choice between self-managed and managed deployment. Its strongest advantage is the breadth of signals and tracing in one platform; look elsewhere if you need managed observability with costs that do not scale with ingest, or if your team cannot take on self-hosting and the cloud usage charges do not fit.
