Overview

Langua is a 24/7 AI conversation tutor for learners who want to practice speaking and revisit what they learn through vocabulary and feedback tools. It suits self-directed learners who value flexible conversation and media over a fixed lesson sequence. The free tier is useful for a brief tryout, but sustained practice requires a paid plan, and starting the Pro trial requires a card.

Key features

Conversation and feedback

Roleplays, debates, vocabulary practice, and interest-based conversations offer different ways to produce language, rather than limiting practice to one prompt style. Correction options, personalized grammar drills, feedback reports, audio summaries, and transcripts with click-to-translate words support review after a conversation. That range gives learners several ways to work on mistakes, though it may be more than needed for someone seeking only short, occasional speaking prompts.

Vocabulary and content

Saved words can feed spaced-repetition flashcards and generated stories, extending practice beyond the conversation itself. Langua also offers level-matched podcasts and videos, and lets learners import their own material with interactive transcripts synchronized to audio. This is a strong fit for learners who want to study material tied to their interests; those who prefer a tightly sequenced course should look elsewhere.

Languages, access, and privacy

Langua offers 23 languages, with multiple dialects for many. It runs on web, iOS, and Android, and progress syncs across devices. Chrome is its recommended browser for web use because voice technology works most reliably there. Chat transcripts are stored in the account and can be deleted by the user; voice recordings are not stored unless recording is enabled in Settings. Contracted providers may process conversation content to provide, evaluate, or improve Langua, but may not sell it, use it for advertising, or train shared models for other customers.

Langua is intended for people aged 13 and older; users aged 13–17 need parental or guardian permission. The company says AI content is moderated but cannot guarantee every response is appropriate, a consideration for younger learners and families.

Pricing

Langua uses a freemium model. Its Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and allows 3 minutes of Call Mode per day and approximately 20 standard chat messages per week. That is enough to sample the service, but the caps constrain anyone hoping to build a regular speaking routine.

Standard is a monthly option with custom pricing. It allows up to 75 regular chat messages per day and up to 30 minutes of Call Mode per day, making it the more bounded paid choice for learners who do not need unlimited conversation. Unlimited is also offered with custom pricing; it markets unlimited conversation practice but applies a fair-use allowance of 350 AI chat messages per day. The allowance is generous for many individual learners, but “unlimited” does not mean there is no daily message ceiling.

The Pro trial requires a payment card and lasts 5 days on a monthly plan or 7 days on an annual plan. Customized organization plans start at 500.00 USD per month and are aimed at schools, universities, and companies. Teams considering that option should weigh the starting price against their need for a customized plan.

Platforms

Langua is available on web, iOS, and Android, with subscriptions and progress syncing across devices. Learners who rely on browser-based voice practice should use Chrome for the most reliable experience, according to Langua’s recommendation.

Who it's for

Langua is best for independent learners who want frequent conversational practice, personalized correction, and a way to turn vocabulary or outside media into further study. Its synced mobile and web access also suits people who switch devices. It is a weaker fit for learners who need a generous free allowance, a fixed course progression, or a service that guarantees every AI response is appropriate.

Pros and cons

Pros

Multiple ways to practice speaking: Roleplays, debates, vocabulary work, and interest-based conversations help learners vary their output practice.
A connected review loop: Feedback, transcripts, saved words, flashcards, and generated stories help carry learning beyond a single exchange.
Flexible learning material: Level-matched media and synchronized transcripts for imported content suit learners who want to study particular topics.
Cross-device continuity: Web, iOS, and Android access with synced progress supports switching between devices.

Cons

Restrictive free use: Three minutes of daily Call Mode and about 20 standard messages per week are too limited for substantial ongoing practice.
Card required for the trial: The 5-day monthly or 7-day annual Pro trial is less frictionless than a no-card evaluation.
Daily ceiling on Unlimited: The fair-use allowance of 350 AI chat messages per day qualifies the unlimited-practice marketing.
Voice experience depends on browser choice: Chrome is recommended for web use, which matters to learners who prefer another browser.

Alternatives

Choose Talkpal if a 10-minute daily free limit and AI language practice across Android, iOS, and web better suit your needs. Consider ELSA Speak if its free first two lessons of topics or its 159.99 USD annual Premium plan is a better match. LINAOI offers a free plan with five lessons per day and basic pronunciation practice, while its Annual plan costs 79.99 USD per year; choose it if those lesson and pronunciation limits suit you better. AI Tutor is another freemium option on Android and iOS, with a free Starter allowance of 30 minutes, one quiz, and one material upload. Aristotle offers three free one-hour sessions and a 49.00 USD monthly Scholar plan with eight sessions each month, so compare its session-based format with Langua’s conversation allowances. KORA Tutor has a free starting plan and a KORA Pro option at 29.99 USD per year. Lucida AI is a freemium Android and iOS option, with some features requiring a subscription. KI-ENNA education is a free web option.

Verdict

Choose Langua if your priority is flexible conversation practice backed by correction, vocabulary review, and media tools in one service. Its breadth makes it a compelling study companion for self-directed learners, but the free caps are small and the trial requires a card. Look elsewhere if you need a more generous free routine or a structured course progression.
