Overview

ePassport Photo Maker is a browser tool for turning a selfie into a passport or visa photo, with cropping, white-background replacement and rule checks. It is a strong fit for individuals who want a no-account workflow and digital or print output at no charge. Its checks help prepare a photo, but the reviewing office decides whether to accept it.

Key features

The service covers formats for US passports and visas, green cards, baby passports, USCIS, EAD, DV Lottery, Canadian, UK and Australian documents. It checks head size, eye height, tilt, open eyes, expression, lighting and resolution. That range makes it useful for spotting common preparation problems across several document types, though the checks cannot promise compliance or acceptance.

Background removal places the subject on plain white, so users do not need a special backdrop. The service says it does not smooth skin, remove blemishes or reshape faces. That is appropriate for document-photo preparation, but not for anyone seeking portrait retouching.

Downloads include a digital file and a watermark-free 4×6 print sheet at no cost. Six passport photos fit on the sheet, which can be printed as an ordinary photo print at listed retailers. This is a practical way to get physical copies without a separate layout tool.

Processing runs in the browser, and images are not uploaded or stored unless users opt for email delivery or permit server processing when local AI cannot run. The site says it sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics, advertising pixels or trackers; its AI model files are served from its own domain rather than a third-party CDN. These choices suit privacy-conscious users, while the email and server-processing paths involve a different handling arrangement. Support is available by email at hello@epassport-photo.com.

Pricing

Free — free (billed Free; no payment) includes a passport photo and 4×6 print sheet, with no watermark and no account requirement. There is no paid tier or free-trial decision to weigh. The plan’s trade-off is not a stated quota but the service’s limited scope: it prepares and exports photos, without guaranteeing an authority’s approval.

Platforms

The service runs on the web. That makes it accessible through a browser without choosing among desktop and mobile app editions, but teams seeking an API or native app workflow should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

Choose it for individual passport or visa applicants who want free digital and print-ready output, several supported document formats, and browser-based processing. It is less suitable when a photo must carry a guarantee of acceptance, when users need face retouching, or when a team needs an API or managed multi-user workflow.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free, watermark-free digital and six-photo print output avoids a per-photo charge.
Pros: Checks cover several measurable photo attributes, helping users catch issues before submission.
Pros: Browser processing, no-cookie operation and no third-party trackers make privacy a central part of the workflow.
Cons: The reviewing office retains final authority, so rule checks cannot remove acceptance risk.
Cons: It does not retouch faces, and local AI fallback may require users to accept server processing.
Cons: Web-only access and no stated API limit its fit for integrated team workflows.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Passport Photo Maker Software.

Cutout.Pro is the better fit when users want a broader set of web, mobile and desktop platforms or an API; its subscription starts at 5.00 USD per month for 80 credits.
idpic.app is another free web option with no account or subscription required and no stated limits.
Passport Room suits users who want Android or iOS access alongside web; its free plan allows three finished photos per day without an account or watermark.
PhotoID offers Android and iOS access, but its free plan only processes and previews photos; downloading final photos requires a subscription.
IDVisaPhoto is a paid web alternative.
Smartphone iD is worth considering when AI and human verification are important; its digital photo plan costs 8.50 USD per one-time purchase, with the exact price varying by document.
VERID Studio is a paid web alternative with custom pricing.
Passport Photo Online is a paid Android, iOS and web option; digital photos cost 16.95 USD per one-time purchase.

Verdict

ePassport Photo Maker is an easy recommendation for individuals who need a free, no-account passport or visa photo workflow and value privacy-conscious browser processing. Its mix of rule checks and print-ready output is the main reason to choose it. Look elsewhere for retouching, an integrated team workflow or greater assurance: no photo-preparation tool can make the reviewing office’s decision for you.
