Overview

Epicor Kinetic is an ERP for manufacturers, particularly businesses running discrete or make-to-order production. It is best suited to teams that need production and financial operations in the same system; its broad scope is less compelling for buyers seeking a single-purpose tool.

The platform brings production, scheduling, supply chain, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, and general ledger together, with inventory, order, and multi-entity management. That breadth can reduce the need to coordinate separate operational and finance systems, but also makes Kinetic a substantial choice to evaluate against a narrower requirement.

Key features

Forecasting, material requirements planning, advanced planning and scheduling, and sourcing connect production plans with supply decisions. These capabilities suit manufacturers balancing material needs and schedules across operations; teams that do not need manufacturing planning may not benefit from that depth.

Production data collection and IoT-enabled MES capabilities support monitoring equipment, efficiency, and quality metrics. Application Studio adds no-code and low-code tools for configuring interfaces and workflows, which gives teams ways to adapt processes without limiting configuration to code-level work.

Kinetic supports REST APIs, EDI and B2B integrations, and partner connections using JSON and XML. Its REST services follow OData v4 and can connect with Excel and Power BI, a useful range for organizations connecting ERP data to existing tools. Epicor's cloud security measures include multi-factor authentication, regional disaster recovery, daily backups, monitoring, audits, data masking, and encryption.

The Select cloud package includes daily backups retained for 30 days, in-region disaster recovery, monthly updates, and a historic 99.98% SLA. It also includes the Essential Support Plan.

Pricing

Epicor Kinetic uses paid, custom pricing. Buyers choose a platform core, cloud package, concurrent user licenses, and industry bundles, so the right configuration depends on the business's deployment and licensing needs. Concurrent licenses are not tied to a named user or device, which can suit organizations where access shifts among users.

There is no published plan price to compare. Teams should establish the required core, package, bundles, and license count before assessing the cost against alternatives.

Platforms

Kinetic supports Android, iOS, web, and Windows, as well as API access and self-hosted deployment. Its deployment model is hybrid, and its responsive, browser-based interface is designed for access across devices. The mix gives manufacturers options across device and deployment environments, though buyers should align the chosen platform core and cloud package with their intended setup.

Who it's for

Kinetic is a strong fit for discrete and make-to-order manufacturers seeking connected production, planning, supply-chain, and finance functions. It is also relevant to businesses that need multi-entity, inventory, order, warehouse, purchasing, or delivery management alongside manufacturing. Buyers looking primarily for a focused quoting or accounting tool should compare more specialized products rather than take on a broad ERP by default.

Pros and cons

Pros: Production planning, shop-floor monitoring, supply chain, and financial management sit within one platform, supporting coordinated manufacturing operations.
Pros: OData v4 REST services, EDI/B2B, JSON and XML partner connections, and Excel and Power BI connectivity offer several integration paths.
Pros: No-code and low-code interface and workflow configuration can accommodate process changes.
Cons: Custom pricing and configurable cores, packages, licenses, and bundles mean buyers need to scope their requirements before they can compare costs.
Cons: The broad ERP scope may be more than a team needs if it is shopping for a single-function application.

Alternatives

For buyers whose need is specifically configure-price-quote software, Vendavo CPQ is a paid API and web option with no public price or plan limits stated. Cincom CPQ is another paid CPQ alternative, with API, self-hosted, and web platforms and quote-based pricing. Tacton CPQ is a paid API and web option whose pricing is not shown and for which buyers can request a demo.

Conga CLM is a paid API product without a free plan. Agentforce Vibes is freemium, supports web, iOS, and Android, and includes a free Salesforce Foundations plan; its listed paid options include Flex Credits at 500.00 USD per month for 100,000 credits and Flat Fee Access.

Verdict

Choose Epicor Kinetic if you are a discrete or make-to-order manufacturer that wants production planning, shop-floor monitoring, supply-chain processes, and finance in one ERP. Its operational breadth and configuration options are the main reasons to choose it; custom pricing and the commitment of a broad platform are reasons to look elsewhere if your needs are limited to a focused function.
