Overview

Humanitix is a ticketing and event-management service for organizers running free or paid events. It is a particularly good fit for charities, schools and teams that value a charitable use of booking-fee profits; paid-ticket costs and mobile-device requirements are the key trade-offs.

Founded in Sydney in 2016, Humanitix directs all profits from booking fees to charity. Its scope extends from ticket sales and registration to promotion and on-site check-in, making it a practical choice for teams that want those jobs in one platform.

Key features

Ticketing includes unlimited ticket types, reserved seating, merchandise sales, gift cards, invoicing and waitlists. Those options suit events with varied ticketing needs, while session registration and advanced form customization help with more structured sign-ups. Hosts can manage guests and refunds, assign tickets later, and use reports and analytics to track sales.

For promotion, organizers can use website ticket widgets, promotional and affiliate codes, email tools and accessibility features. Integration guides cover Mailchimp, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier, Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager and analytics platforms, which gives teams familiar routes to connect marketing and measurement workflows.

The public API is read-only and retrieves event, order, ticket and tag information for events owned by or shared with an account. It is useful for teams that need programmatic access to event data, but not for workflows that depend on writing or updating records through the API.

The free Humanitix for Hosts app runs on iOS and Android and supports tracking, check-in and ticket sales. Check-in requires Android 7.0 or later or iOS 13.0 or later, and Tap to Pay has additional device and operating-system requirements. Hosts can sign in with email and password, two-factor authentication or Google single sign-on; buyers do not maintain logged-in accounts.

Pricing

Humanitix uses a freemium model. Free events have no ticket fee, so the Free events plan is suited to organizers who do not charge admission. For paid tickets, Standard charges 2.1% booking fee plus $0.99 per paid ticket, with payment processing listed separately at 2.9% + $0.30.

Charities & Schools charges 1% booking fee plus $0.99 per paid ticket, with the same separately listed payment-processing charge of 2.9% + $0.30. That lower booking-fee rate makes it the more suitable paid plan for eligible charities and schools; the per-ticket amount and processing charge still need to be included in event budgets. Custom pricing is available for larger events.

All plans include free customer support. The per-ticket fee structure means costs rise with paid attendance, while free events avoid ticket fees. Organizers should also account for device compatibility if they plan to use mobile check-in or Tap to Pay.

Platforms

Humanitix supports web, API, Android and iOS. Its check-in app's minimum requirements are Android 7.0 or later and iOS 13.0 or later. Humanitix says payment processing is PCI DSS certified, does not currently hold ISO 27001 certification, and stores application data in MongoDB Atlas hosted on AWS in Sydney. It also says it does not sell user data.

Who it's for

Humanitix fits event teams that need ticketing, registration, promotion and check-in together, especially charities and schools that can use the lower booking-fee rate. It is also a reasonable option for teams whose integrations match the available guides and whose API needs are read-only. Look elsewhere if your workflow depends on API writes or your devices do not meet the app requirements.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited ticket types, reserved seating, waitlists and merchandise support give organizers options beyond basic ticket sales.
Pros: Free events have no ticket fee, and all profits from booking fees go to charity.
Pros: The host app combines check-in, ticket sales and tracking on iOS and Android.
Cons: Paid tickets incur both a booking fee and separately listed payment processing, which organizers must factor into pricing.
Cons: The public API is read-only, limiting teams that need to create or update event data programmatically.
Cons: Check-in and Tap to Pay depend on device and operating-system compatibility.

Alternatives

Eventbrite is worth considering for free events: its free-event publishing plan allows unlimited publishing and free tickets have no ticketing fees, with free events allowed at any size.

Zoho Backstage offers a free plan capped at 100 attendees per event, 300 RSVP invites, three sessions, three speakers and one event day. Choose it if those explicit event limits suit your needs.

Eventzilla has a Basic plan at 1.50 USD per month, billed per registration, with unlimited events and free registration types but one paid ticket or registration type. It may suit teams whose requirements fit that narrower paid-ticket allowance.

Ticketbud lists free events with complete access to all features and charges attendees 2% +99c per ticket sold for paid events, with payment processing separate. It is an alternative for organizers comparing ticket-fee structures.

Indico is open-source and self-hosted, making it the alternative to consider when self-hosting is the priority.

Explara has a free Starter plan with a 4% domestic ticket-value charge and a 1% Stripe transaction fee, plus a limit of one group and one event per month. That makes it relevant for organizers whose needs fit those caps.

Accelevents is an alternative for teams comparing event platforms with stated registrant limits across its plans.

InEvent is another event-platform option to compare.

Verdict

Choose Humanitix if you need capable event ticketing and management, value directing booking-fee profits to charity, and can work within its per-paid-ticket charges and read-only API. Its free-event option and broad ticketing toolkit make it compelling for charities, schools and event teams; look elsewhere if API write access or broader device compatibility is essential.
