Overview

Fadr brings stem separation, remixing and text-driven music creation into one service, with a plugin and API for extending its tools beyond the web app. It suits producers and developers who want to move between isolating parts of a track and building new material from them. Its free plan is unusually permissive for core remix work, but WAV exports, longer uploads and API access sit behind a $10 monthly subscription.

Key features

Stem separation and remixing

Basic separates vocals, melodies, drums and bass, and includes unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets with MP3 downloads. That makes it a practical starting point for remixers who can work within those stem groups and do not need WAV output. Plus expands separation to 18 stem types, including lead and background vocals, kick, snare, piano, guitar, strings and wind, giving producers more control over what they isolate.

Plus also raises the track-length cap from 10 minutes to one hour; the maximum upload size is 200 MB. WAV downloads are a meaningful upgrade for workflows that need that format, while Basic users are limited to MP3. Batch processing is supported.

AI creation tools

Siren turns words into playable instruments and offers ADSR controls plus low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch filters. That combination gives users ways to shape a generated sound rather than treating it as a finished preset. DrumGPT generates 16-element kits from text prompts and adds pitch, volume and amplitude-envelope controls. Siren is available online, as an iPhone and iPad app, and as a plugin compatible with major DAWs.

Plugins and API

The Stems Plugin works with major DAWs and software that supports VST3, with Windows VST3 and Mac VST3/AU versions. This gives Plus users a route to stem tools inside existing production setups rather than requiring a separate app workflow.

The API separates audio into vocals, drums, bass, melodies and instrumental, and can detect MIDI, chord progressions, key and tempo. Its Create Stem Task endpoint costs US$0.05 per minute of audio, and API use requires Plus. Files are stored in Fadr's secure cloud storage and exchanged using temporary presigned URLs. Fadr describes its service as a web platform; its site is hosted in the United States, and its terms say it is not tailored to regulations such as HIPAA or FISMA. That makes it a poor fit for regulated workloads that require those protections.

Pricing

Fadr Basic is free (billed Free). It includes vocals, melodies, drums and bass, MP3 downloads, MIDI detection and Remix Maker, with unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets. Its 10-minute upload limit and narrower stem selection are the key trade-offs.

Fadr Plus costs $10/mo. It adds 18 stem types, uploads up to one hour, WAV downloads, plugins, API access and unlimited storage. It is the relevant plan for longer source tracks, more granular separation, in-DAW use or API integration. The API's per-minute task charge is separate from the stated plan price.

Platforms

Fadr is available on the web, iOS, macOS and Windows, and offers API access. Its Stems Plugin supports Windows VST3 and Mac VST3/AU; Siren also has an iPhone and iPad app. For support and feature requests, Fadr directs users to its contact form, contact@fadr.com or Instagram.

Who it's for

Fadr is best suited to producers who want free, unlimited core remixing, or to creators willing to pay for broader stem control, longer tracks and WAV exports. Teams building music workflows can use the API's separation and musical-analysis functions, but should account for both the Plus requirement and usage-based task charge. It is not the right choice for organizations needing HIPAA- or FISMA-tailored service terms.

Pros and cons

Pro: Basic allows unlimited stems, remixes and DJ sets at no charge, so experimentation is not gated by a usage quota.
Pro: Plus covers 18 stem types, hour-long tracks, WAV exports, plugins and API access in one plan.
Pro: Siren and DrumGPT provide adjustable controls for generated instruments and kits, not just text-prompt output.
Con: Basic stops at 10-minute uploads and MP3 downloads, which limits its fit for longer tracks or WAV-dependent delivery.
Con: API access requires Plus and also incurs a US$0.05-per-minute charge for Create Stem Task.
Con: The service is not tailored to HIPAA or FISMA requirements, ruling it out for some regulated use cases.

Alternatives

Choose LALAL.AI if you need an Android or Linux option; its free Starter plan allows 10 minutes in a relaxed queue and 200 MB per file, with previews but no full downloads.

MVSEP is worth considering when access to many separation models matters more than queue speed: its free Unregistered plan offers 100+ AI models and 50 daily separations, but limits tracks to 10 minutes and 100 MB, allows one concurrent job, and uses a low-priority queue with captcha.

Pick Pymss if local, open-source software is the priority; it is free and runs locally.

Suno is an alternative for AI music creation on Android or iOS, with a free plan that provides 50 credits per day and accepts uploads up to eight minutes.

BandLab Splitter fits mobile users who want four-stem separation and unlimited uploads for tracks under 15 minutes on its free plan.

InSplitter is an option if web-based processing with batch processing and API access on a free plan matters more than Fadr's creation tools; its free tier caps files at 50 MB and provides standard stem quality.

Moises may suit users who want an app across mobile, desktop and browser, but its free plan allows five uploads per month and tracks up to five minutes.

Sonura is another choice for AI music creation, with a free plan that provides daily credits and limits on loops, one-shots, effects and full-track generations.

Verdict

Fadr is a strong fit for independent producers who want unlimited free remixing and a clear upgrade path to deeper separation, WAV exports and DAW plugins. Its API also offers useful separation and analysis functions, though Plus access and per-minute charges raise the cost of integration. Look elsewhere if local processing or industry-specific compliance is essential.
