Overview

Hunter combines company and address search, email verification, a B2B lead database and automated outreach. That breadth makes it a practical starting point for teams moving from identifying prospects to contacting them, rather than a dedicated solution for any one step. Its emphasis is email: teams looking for a broader multichannel sales workflow should compare alternatives before standardizing on it.

Hunter says its database draws on public web sources, and Domain Search results show where and when contact data was found. People can claim an address to edit associated fields or request removal of the address and related data. Hunter’s Chrome extension can surface email addresses, names and social profiles associated with a website.

Key features

Finding and qualifying prospects

Domain Search and Email Finder locate professional addresses, while Email Verifier checks them. Discover extends the workflow with a B2B lead database and market-segmentation filters for finding companies and leads. This is useful when prospecting starts with target markets or domains; the free plan’s 50 monthly credits, however, make it a constrained option for teams building lists routinely.

Outreach and integrations

Sequences automates cold emails and supports open tracking, so Hunter can carry a prospect from discovery into outreach. Teams can connect Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Outlook, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, Clay and Snowflake. The Chrome extension adds a way to find contact and social-profile details from a website, complementing the web and API options.

Security and data controls

Hunter says its services run on Google Cloud Platform in Belgium and customer data stored there is encrypted at all times. Its stated security controls include risk-based assessments, access controls, vulnerability scans, penetration tests and an ongoing bug bounty program. The address-claim process gives people a route to correct associated fields or request removal.

Pricing

Hunter uses a freemium model, with a free plan and no free trial. Free costs 0.00 EUR per free, billed monthly, and includes 50 monthly credits, basic Discover filters, one connected email account and up to 500 recipients per sequence. CSV exports are capped at 10 emails per domain, and support is regular. That can suit a small-scale evaluation, but the credit and export ceilings limit its usefulness for repeat prospecting.

Starter has custom pricing and includes 2,000 monthly credits, auto-verification, lead enrichment and three connected email accounts. It is the entry point for teams that need more credits and enrichment than Free provides. Growth also has custom pricing, with 10,000 monthly credits, auto-verification, lead enrichment and ten connected accounts; it better fits teams with larger prospecting workloads and more outreach accounts. Both paid tiers include priority support.

Scale has custom pricing and includes 25,000 monthly credits, auto-verification, lead enrichment, 20 connected accounts and an account manager. It is aimed at larger teams that value higher volume and a named contact. Enterprise has custom pricing, custom credit volume and connected-account limits, plus an account manager, making it the more flexible option for organizations whose requirements exceed fixed tiers. Paid tiers include priority support.

For teams that need a separate bulk-credit purchase, Data Platform bulk credits cost 6500.00 USD per once. The purchase includes 1,000 Search credits and 200,000 Verification credits, usable for up to 12 months from purchase. This is a substantial one-time commitment, better suited to buyers with a clear bulk-search and verification workload than to teams still sizing demand.

Platforms

Hunter is available on the web, through an API and as a browser extension. That mix suits teams choosing between direct use, integration into their own systems and in-browser lookups. Its listed connections to CRM, spreadsheet, automation and data tools also help it fit into an existing stack.

Who it's for

Hunter is a strong fit for sales, marketing and recruiting teams whose workflow centers on finding professional email addresses and reaching prospects by email. It is particularly useful when lead search, verification and sequences need to sit together. Teams with modest needs can start free; teams relying on regular list-building should evaluate the custom-priced tiers against their required credits and connected accounts. Buyers focused on a single specialist task, or seeking a different outreach emphasis, should compare alternatives.

Pros and cons

Pros: Search, verification, B2B lead discovery and cold-email sequences cover several stages of an email prospecting workflow in one service.
Pros: API, browser extension and integrations including Pipedrive, Google Sheets, Zapier and Snowflake offer multiple ways to connect Hunter to a team’s stack.
Pros: Domain Search results include where and when contact data was found, and people can request edits or removal of their data.
Cons: Free includes only 50 monthly credits and limits CSV exports to 10 emails per domain, so it is restrictive for recurring prospecting.
Cons: Starter, Growth and Scale have custom pricing, making cost comparison difficult for teams that need a published rate before assessing fit.
Cons: The free plan allows one connected email account, limiting its reach for teams coordinating several senders without upgrading.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of Email Outreach Software, Email Scheduling Software, Email Finder Software and B2B Contact Data Providers, consider which part of Hunter’s combined workflow matters most.

Apollo is worth comparing when a free plan and API access are important: its free tier includes 900 credits per seat per year, granted monthly, two sequences, API access and one intent topic. Mixmax is another option for teams comparing sequence outreach, with a free plan that allows 20 tracked emails per month and up to 50 sequence recipients per month.

Senders.ai is a candidate for teams considering mailbox-based sending: its Single plan is 50.00 USD per month for one Gmail or Outlook mailbox, 50 sends per day, research, verification and analysis via MCP, and 500 credits per month. Snov.io may suit teams seeking a free trial rather than a free plan; its Trial tier has 50 credits, 100 recipients and one email warm-up slot.

Woodpecker is another option to assess for email outreach. Mailreach is more specifically positioned around deliverability tools: its All-In-One plan costs 19.50 USD per month and includes an email warmer, spam tester, at least 20 spam test credits and up to 100 emails per day. Klenty and lemlist are also alternatives to compare.

Verdict

Choose Hunter if your team wants one email-focused service for discovering professional contacts, qualifying addresses and running cold-email sequences, with API and browser access to fit different workflows. Its main advantage is that connected workflow; its main drawback is the constrained free tier and custom pricing on the principal paid plans. If those limits complicate budgeting or routine prospecting, compare alternatives before committing.
