Overview

FollowThrough is a customer-management and retention platform for owner-led small businesses that need to keep leads moving and encourage repeat visits. Its strongest fit is a small service business that wants pipeline, reminders, campaigns and loyalty tools together; teams needing more than 10 users should look elsewhere.

Templates for new leads, missed calls, quote follow-ups, first visits and inactive customers give owners a starting point for routine workflows. Contacts can be imported from CSV or added manually. Loyalty passes go to customers by email, with progress tracking and QR-code check-ins. Email uses a connected verified domain when available, otherwise a default sender.

Key features

Pipeline and follow-up: CRM, tasks, reminders and pipeline management help keep the next action attached to each lead. The Free plan supports basic pipeline and task needs; full pipeline management and unlimited tasks and reminders begin with Solo.
Campaigns and automation: Solo adds outbound email, templates and SMS, capped at 100 messages a month. Growth adds multi-step email sequences and unlimited SMS, making it the more suitable tier for businesses with regular customer outreach.
Retention and operations: Growth adds loyalty and rewards plus a booking and operations module. Digital passes and QR check-ins support repeat-visit programs without requiring a separate loyalty tool.
AI and reporting: Solo provides 15 AI summaries per day and retention and behavior reports. Growth adds deal autopsy, playbook and writer tools, along with unlimited AI report summaries; Business pools unlimited AI usage across the team.
Integrations and API: Solo lists Square and Clover integrations, while public API access begins at Growth. That makes Solo the practical option for those specific point-of-sale connections, but API-dependent workflows require a higher-priced plan.

Pricing

FollowThrough is freemium, with paid plans starting at $29 per month. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.

Plan	Price and fit	Included limits and capabilities
Free	$0/forever; for one owner validating a basic pipeline and task workflow.	One user, up to 25 contacts, pipeline and tasks, and email notifications. The small contact cap makes it a starter tier rather than a lasting home for a growing customer list.
Solo	$29/month; for a single operator needing outreach and point-of-sale connections.	One user and up to 500 contacts; unlimited tasks and reminders; full pipeline management; outbound email and templates; 100 SMS/month; Square and Clover integrations; retention and behavior reports; 15 AI summaries per day.
Growth	$69/month; for a solo business that needs more contacts, automation and retention features.	One user and up to 2,500 contacts; everything in Solo; full AI suite including deal autopsy, playbook and writer; multi-step email sequences; unlimited AI report summaries and SMS; loyalty and rewards; booking and operations; one branded sending domain.
Business	$149/month; for teams sharing customer workflows.	Up to 10 users, unlimited contacts, everything in Growth, team dashboard and activity feed, role-based access control, shared templates and sequences, multiple branded sending domains, unlimited AI usage in a team pool and priority support.

The step from Free to Solo buys a larger contact allowance and practical outreach tools, but does not add seats. Growth remains limited to one user even as the contact ceiling rises to 2,500; teams must move to Business for shared work, at a substantial price increase. The Business plan's 10-user ceiling is still a constraint for larger organizations.

Platforms

FollowThrough is available on web, Android and iOS, and it offers an API on Growth. The platform range suits owners managing customer work from desktop or mobile, while builders who need public API access must budget for Growth rather than Solo.

Who it's for

The maker positions FollowThrough for owner-led businesses including salons, car washes, restaurants, gyms and spas. It is most compelling when missed calls, quotes, first visits and lapsed customers all need a consistent follow-up process. Businesses chiefly seeking appointment scheduling or salon management, rather than lead follow-up and retention, may find a more specialized fit elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Useful workflow templates. Templates cover common lead and retention moments, reducing the work of starting follow-up processes from scratch.
Pro: Retention and lead tools share one product. Pipeline, campaigns, loyalty passes and reporting bring acquisition follow-up and repeat-visit efforts together.
Pro: Clear path to team controls. Business adds role-based access, shared sequences and an activity feed for teams that need coordinated work.
Con: Free is tightly capped. One user and 25 contacts limits its usefulness once a business has an established customer base.
Con: Solo and Growth are single-user plans. A second teammate requires the $149/month Business tier, even if contact volume is modest.
Con: Key capabilities are tiered upward. Public API access, multi-step sequences and loyalty tools require Growth, while unlimited contacts and priority support require Business.

Alternatives

For a salon-focused comparison, browse Salon Marketing Software.

Simple Salon is a paid option with a free trial and web, Android and iOS support. Its Starter plan is $20 USD/month, but includes 0 SMS and is capped at 7 operators; choose it when that lower entry price and operator-based salon setup matter more than FollowThrough's lead and retention mix.
SalonIQ is a paid, cross-platform salon system starting at £47 per month for a solo stylist, plus a one-time setup fee from £175 +VAT. Choose it when a complete booking, management and marketing system is the priority.
WellnessLiving has a free plan and trial, and its Starter plan is $62/month billed annually for one staff member, with classes and appointments booking plus client and staff apps. It suits businesses prioritizing classes and appointments over FollowThrough's follow-up workflows.
Belliata offers a free plan with email reminders and support, and a paid START plan. Consider it when free salon software and email reminders are the main needs.
Lumidara offers a free plan and trial; its Pro plan is $10/month and includes unlimited clients, self-booking, deposits and 500 campaign sends monthly. Choose it when low-cost booking and campaign sending take precedence over FollowThrough's CRM breadth.
SalonApp has a free tier limited to 15 clients, 20 appointments per month and one staff member, plus a trial. It is a fit when a small appointment-based operation can work within those free caps.
Salonist offers a free marketplace-listing tier with 50 appointments per month, online booking, calendar and scheduling, and staff shift management. Choose it when booking and scheduling are more central than FollowThrough's lead pipeline.
Tersavia offers free booking and client management with no per-seat charge or contract. It is worth considering when those terms are the main deciding factor.

Verdict

FollowThrough is a strong match for an owner-led service business that wants to connect lead tracking, customer follow-up and loyalty without assembling separate tools. Choose it for its workflow templates and the progression from basic pipeline to campaigns, API access and team controls. Look elsewhere if multiple staff need access below Business pricing, if the contact caps are too restrictive, or if appointment management is the primary need.
