Overview

The collage maker handles projects with two or more than 15 photos, with adjustable layouts and individual photo editing. Its 20,000-plus templates offer many starting points, while custom layouts and controls for text, cutouts, stickers, backgrounds, borders, and spacing let users shape the result. That breadth is useful for varied visual work, though teams needing a defined collaborative or publishing workflow should look elsewhere: the described workflow ends with downloading the creation for sharing.

PhotoGrid supports video collages and PNG and JPG exports, and describes its downloads as high resolution. The free plan’s watermarked exports are a meaningful constraint for public-facing work. AI photo editing, image generation, and video generation extend the tool beyond collage design, but credits apply to AI editing and video generation, so plan allowances matter for repeated use.

Key features

Template-led collage making: A library of 20,000-plus templates and support for both small and larger photo sets give users room to build different compositions without starting from a blank canvas.
Detailed composition controls: Users can adjust layouts, edit photos individually, and add text, cutouts, stickers, backgrounds, borders, and spacing. This makes PhotoGrid more adaptable than a fixed-template maker.
AI tools with metered use: Photo editing and image generation sit alongside AI video generation. Credits are used for AI editing and video generation, which makes the service less predictable for recurring AI work than a tool with a clearly stated unlimited allowance.
Download-oriented sharing: Templates and formats cover Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and wallpapers, and users download finished work to share it. PNG and JPG exports cover common image needs, but the stated export formats do not establish support for other output types.

Pricing

PhotoGrid uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, is billed monthly, includes 100 MB of cloud storage, and has watermarked exports. It is a reasonable way to make occasional personal collages, but the watermark limits its usefulness for finished client, marketing, or storefront assets.

VIP, Pro, and Ultra have custom pricing. VIP includes 180 credits per month, batch editing for up to 10 images, and 1,000 cloud projects. Pro raises those allowances to 500 credits, 20 images per batch, and 5,000 projects. Ultra provides 2,000 credits, batches of up to 50 images, and 30,000 projects. The larger tiers are aimed at heavier workflows, but a buyer cannot compare their cost against the usage headroom without a quote. Trial eligibility depends on plan and account eligibility; do not assume a trial is available. Monthly plans renew monthly and yearly plans renew yearly, while yearly plans are advertised as 50% off.

Platforms

PhotoGrid runs on Android, iOS, and the web. That mix suits individuals who want to move between mobile creation and browser-based work, though platform availability alone does not establish that projects sync or that teams can collaborate across devices.

Who it's for

PhotoGrid is strongest for individuals and small creative workflows that combine collage layouts, light photo editing, and social-ready imagery. Its templates and controls can also suit e-commerce and marketing materials, provided the export watermark is addressed and the intended AI workload fits the plan’s credits. It is less compelling for users who only need a simple watermark-free collage or teams that require established collaboration and integration workflows.

Pros and cons

Pro: More than 20,000 templates, adjustable layouts, custom layouts, and detailed decorative controls give collage makers a broad set of ways to build a composition.
Pro: Browser, Android, and iOS access, plus image, collage, and AI tools, make it a flexible option for mixed personal and promotional work.
Con: Free exports are watermarked, reducing the value of the no-cost tier for polished public or commercial output.
Con: AI editing and video generation use credits, while paid plan prices are custom, making ongoing AI costs harder to assess before purchase.

Alternatives

For alternatives, compare Collage Maker Software, Video Collage Maker Software, and AI Photo Editors according to whether the core need is still-image collage work, video collage creation, or AI editing.

CollageIt is worth considering when desktop use on Windows or Mac and support for up to 200 photos matter more than PhotoGrid’s browser and mobile reach.
FotoJet is a browser-based alternative with a free tier and a Plus plan at 6.99 USD per month, suited to readers comparing a stated subscription price for online collage and editing tools.
PicCollage is another Android, iOS, and web option; consider it when its sticker and background allowances fit the project better.
Collage Pro suits users seeking a web tool with a no-sign-up core collage and export tier, or a 1.90 USD per once single-export option.
FreeCollageImage is a focused choice for watermark-free PNG, JPG, or WebP collages of up to 12 photos without an account.
OptiPix Photo Collage Maker is a web alternative described as free, without ads, limits, or watermarks.
Photovisi is another web collage option, with a free tier and a Premium plan at 4.99 USD per month.
SCRL is another freemium choice for Android, iOS, and web.

Verdict

Choose PhotoGrid if you want a large collage template library, flexible composition controls, and AI tools across mobile and browser platforms in one service. The free tier is useful for trying the workflow, but its watermark is a real limitation, and credit-based AI plus custom-priced paid plans make it harder to budget for sustained use. If watermark-free output or a simple, predictable collage workflow is the priority, a focused alternative is likely the better fit.
