Overview

Genius ERP connects core manufacturing operations rather than treating production as an add-on to general accounting. That makes it a candidate for shops that need quotes, job costs, purchasing and scheduling to reflect the same production data. The trade-off is a specialized system whose value depends on how closely its workflows match the shop’s processes.

Key features

Engineering, quoting and production

CAD2BOM Engineering turns CAD designs into bills of materials and requests for quotation, linking engineering work with downstream planning. Quotes draw on real-time costs, pricing, production data and historical jobs, which can help manufacturers ground estimates in operational information. Smart Scheduling uses drum-buffer-rope planning for custom manufacturers, while shop-floor tools provide production visibility and coordination. Job costing, quality control and project management extend that manufacturing focus.

Planning, finance and automation

The platform supports multi-level bills of materials, production, purchase and capacity planning, and multi-site planning, with both demand inputs. Genius Analytics provides operational reporting. Cortex Intake uses AI to read purchase-order details from emails and attachments, check them against ERP records and business rules, and flag exceptions for review. That is targeted document handling, not a reason by itself to choose the system.

Access and integrations

Cloud access covers production, inventory, finance and other operations without on-site servers. Web-based Genius Apps can be tailored for estimation, order entry, production follow-up and shop-floor transactions. Integrations include SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, HubSpot, Paperless Parts, Avalara, QuickBooks, ADP, UPS, FedEx and Power BI; a REST API can connect other applications or custom software. This breadth is useful for shops whose existing stack includes those tools, though the actual fit depends on the connections they need.

Security and support

Genius ERP says it is enrolled in Canada’s Controlled Goods Program. Its stated Canadian ITAR exemption applies under conditions including Canadian recipients located in Canada, Canadian use of data, CGP registration, and restricted, monitored and auditable access. ITAR does not certify software platforms, so this should not be read as a general certification. The company describes implementation assistance, manufacturing consulting, training and ongoing customer support from industry experts.

Pricing

Genius ERP uses custom pricing, with costs depending on shop size, user count, hosting model and required features. A pricing calculator provides an estimate, but teams should request pricing against their own requirements. There are no published plan prices or seat and usage caps to compare, so buyers should clarify the scope and cost of the configuration they need before committing.

Platforms

Genius ERP supports web, Android and iOS access, along with an API. Its cloud deployment and web-based mobile tools suit teams that need operational access beyond a fixed on-site workstation; the API supports connections to external or custom software.

Who it's for

Small and mid-sized manufacturers are the intended customers, particularly shops that need engineering, estimating, production planning and shop-floor work connected to inventory and finance. The manufacturing-specific planning and CAD-to-BOM workflow are less compelling for organizations seeking a general-purpose ERP without those needs. Teams should also look elsewhere if their purchasing decision depends on a published price or clearly stated per-seat tiers.

Pros and cons

Pros

Manufacturing workflows span CAD-to-BOM, quoting, scheduling, shop-floor operations and job costing, reducing the need to treat these as disconnected processes.
Named integrations and a REST API give teams established routes for connecting common design, finance, logistics and analytics tools, plus custom software.
Cloud access and configurable web-based apps support operational work away from on-site servers and fixed terminals.

Cons

Custom pricing makes cost comparison difficult until buyers specify shop size, users, hosting and required features.
The system’s manufacturing focus may be unnecessary overhead for organizations that do not need connected production planning and shop-floor workflows.
The ITAR-related language is conditional and does not amount to software certification, so compliance-sensitive buyers must assess their own obligations and access controls.

Alternatives

For another manufacturing ERP option, compare Cetec ERP, which offers a free trial and support included with its subscription. Consider Epicor Kinetic if you want to choose among platform cores, cloud packages, concurrent user licenses and industry bundles. Infor Public Sector is another paid option with pricing available by contacting its maker. SYSPRO lets buyers select solution packages and request costing through a demo. With abas ERP, implementation costs vary with users, process complexity, data migration, functions and adjustments. Acumatica Field Service uses custom pricing based on applications, expected usage, resources and deployment preferences. Datacor ERP provides pricing by contact. QAD Adaptive ERP is another paid option.

Verdict

Genius ERP is a strong fit for small and mid-sized manufacturers that want engineering, quoting, scheduling and shop-floor work connected to inventory and finance. Its manufacturing depth, integrations and API are the main reasons to shortlist it. Look elsewhere if you need transparent published pricing, or if your operation does not need specialized manufacturing workflows.
