Overview

Pigeonhole Live brings several audience activities into one platform: attendees can ask questions, vote on others’ questions and follow answers as they arrive; polls cover multiple-choice, open-text, word-cloud and quiz formats with live results. Surveys can run during an event or presentation and stay open afterward, useful when responses should continue beyond the live session.

Five interfaces serve different roles: Audience Web App, Projector Panel, Admin Panel, Moderator Panel and Kiosk. They run on laptops, tablets and smartphones without downloads or installations, which reduces setup friction for both presenters and participants. Anonymous responses are supported, and slide integrations are available.

Key features

The integration range spans PowerPoint, Zoom, Cisco Webex, Microsoft Teams, YouTube, Vimeo, Livestream, Castr, ON24, Socialive and Brightcove. That breadth makes Pigeonhole Live a plausible choice for teams whose events move between presentations, meetings and streaming platforms, rather than a tool tied to one delivery format.

All data, including personal data, confidential information and images, is encrypted at rest and in transit on every subscription tier. Enterprise plans can add team SSO, attendee SSO and IP address whitelisting. Hosting uses multiple AWS data centres, with primary storage in Northern Virginia and disaster-recovery backups in Frankfurt. Paid plans can export collected data as PDF or Excel files. The Workspace Help Menu provides help-centre links, support-request tickets, request-history access and training videos.

Pricing

The Starter plan is free forever at 0.00 USD per free. It includes 100 participants, one user and unlimited Q&As, polls, chats and surveys. That is a generous activity allowance for a small team, but the 100-participant ceiling and single workspace user constrain larger or collaborative deployments.

Presenter costs 13.00 USD per month, billed monthly, or $156/year when billed yearly. It allows 250 participants and one user, with capacity described as up to 1,000 participants for presentations. The higher stated capacity is relevant for larger presentation audiences, but its join rate is 125 participants per 10 seconds, so rapid arrivals may still shape the experience.

Standard costs 150.00 USD per month, billed monthly, or $1,800/year when billed yearly. It includes 2,000 participants and three users, and is designed for events of up to 5,000 participants. Its join rate of 300 per 10 seconds is higher than Presenter’s, while the extra users make it a better fit for a team sharing event responsibilities. Both paid plans support PDF and Excel exports.

Enterprise has custom pricing, supports more than 5,000 participants and more than 25 users, and can serve up to 100,000 participants. Its 650-per-10-second join rate and added SSO and IP-whitelisting options target large events and organizations with stronger access-control needs. Current plans otherwise support at most 25 workspace users. Across plans, stated join rates are 50 per 10 seconds for Starter, 125 for Presenter, 300 for Standard and 650 for Enterprise; event size and arrival speed are distinct constraints worth checking together.

Platforms

Pigeonhole Live is available via API and web. Its interfaces work on laptops, tablets and smartphones without requiring installation, while the named integrations connect it to presentation, conferencing and streaming services.

Who it's for

Choose Pigeonhole Live when Q&A, polling, quizzes and surveys need to sit alongside an existing presentation, meeting or streaming workflow, particularly when event teams value role-specific interfaces and paid-plan exports. It is less suitable when a small Starter audience needs more than one workspace user, or when participant volume and fast joining exceed the plan’s stated limits.

Pros and cons

Pro: Q&A, four poll formats and surveys cover varied live engagement needs, including surveys that remain open after an event.
Pro: Five interfaces and a broad set of named presentation, meeting and streaming integrations accommodate different event roles and delivery setups.
Pro: Encryption at rest and in transit applies on every tier, including the free plan.
Con: Starter is limited to 100 participants and one user, while Presenter also has one user; teams sharing event administration need to move to Standard or Enterprise.
Con: Join rates differ substantially by tier, from 50 to 650 participants per 10 seconds, so a nominal audience limit alone does not describe how quickly attendees can join.
Con: SSO and IP whitelisting are Enterprise options, not entry-tier controls.

Alternatives

Interactive Presentation Software, Polling Software and Audience Response Systems are useful category starting points for comparing tools by use case.

Decka is worth considering for a free plan capped at 50 people per activity, two live sessions a month and 200 people a month.
Crowdpurr offers a free Basic plan for 20 participants, 15 questions and three simultaneous experiences, which may suit smaller, question-led sessions.
Poll Everywhere has an Intro free plan with a 40-person maximum audience, or 700 for 30 days, and supports Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows.
AhaSlides has a free plan for up to 50 participants with five quiz questions and three poll questions, for teams whose initial needs fit those caps.
ClassPoint is a web and Windows option with a Basic plan capped at 25 participants and five questions per PowerPoint presentation.
EngageSlide offers a free plan for up to 10 live participants and supports Android, iOS, web and Windows.
StreamAlive has a free plan with unlimited sessions but up to five participants per session.
Vevox has a free-forever plan for 100 participants and one user, matching Pigeonhole Live Starter’s stated participant and user caps.

Verdict

Pigeonhole Live is a strong fit for event and presentation teams that want Q&A, polls, quizzes and surveys across a broad integration set, with encryption included on every tier. Choose it when those capabilities and its role-specific interfaces matter more than keeping audience growth and workspace collaboration within a single low-cost plan. Look elsewhere if the plan’s participant or join-rate ceiling is a poor match, or if enterprise access controls are required without an Enterprise plan.
