Overview

GrowSurf is software for customer referral and affiliate programs, aimed at marketing and product teams at growing companies. It is best suited to teams that want program automation and developer integration options; the key trade-off is matching participant limits and fees to the program’s growth model.

Referral programs can use one-time rewards such as gift cards, cash, or credits, while affiliate programs support recurring commissions. GrowSurf automates referral-link generation and can automate gift cards, cash payouts, and account credits. Its audience focus is B2C, SaaS, fintech, and other fast-growing companies; it says it is not the best fit for eCommerce, retail, or service businesses.

Key features

Program operations

Referral links and codes, fraud controls, and automated rewards cover core program operations. Teams can use gift cards, cash payouts, account credits, or PayPal payouts. Automation can reduce routine handling, but the reward menu alone does not determine whether a particular incentive structure fits a business.

Integrations and developer tools

The integrations directory contains 61 entries, including Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce, PayPal, Zapier, and webhooks. The developer surface includes a REST API, webhooks, JavaScript, iOS, and Android SDKs, API libraries, embeddable elements, and an MCP server. This breadth is useful when referral activity needs to connect with a product or existing business systems; a team seeking only a simple standalone campaign may have little use for that depth.

Setup, security, and privacy

GrowSurf says teams can launch a referral program within a day using a copy-and-paste code snippet. That is a stated launch target, not a guarantee for every implementation. Its stated safeguards include firewalls, IP allowlists, HTTPS with HSTS, and AES-256 encryption at rest for certain sensitive information. The company describes itself as GDPR-compliant and says it processes customer personal data on documented instructions. It maintains daily disaster-recovery backups, with managed MongoDB backups retained for 7 days and Firebase exports for up to 30 days.

Pricing

GrowSurf has a free affiliate option and paid referral-program tiers. Referral pricing is based on participant counts, and crossing a tier limit can trigger an automatic prorated upgrade, so growth can change the bill without waiting for a manual plan change.

Free (affiliate programs): 0.00 USD per month with no monthly subscription, a 3% success fee, up to 1,000,000 participants, 5 affiliate programs, and unlimited referral revenue. The large participant allowance is offset by the success fee, which makes this most relevant to teams comfortable with a revenue-based charge rather than a subscription.
Startup (yearly): 125.00 USD per month, billed $1,503.60 yearly, for up to 2,500 participants, 2 referral programs, and 2 team members. It includes a 14-day free trial. This is the lower-cost paid entry for a small team that can work within those caps.
Startup (monthly): 179.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with the same participant, program, and seat limits as the yearly Startup plan. It avoids an annual billing commitment but costs more per month.
Business (yearly): 314.00 USD per month, billed $3,771.60 yearly, for up to 10,000 participants, 5 referral programs, and 5 team members, with a 14-day free trial. It suits teams needing greater capacity and more programs or seats than Startup allows.
Business (monthly): 449.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with the same limits as yearly Business. Monthly billing offers less commitment at a higher monthly price.
Custom (referral programs): custom pricing, with 150,000+ participants, expert onboarding, volume discounts, and priority support.
Custom (affiliate programs): custom pricing, with custom participant counts, volume discounts, expert onboarding, and priority support.

Referral Startup includes email support, Business includes realtime support, and Custom includes priority support. The stated participant limit is also 500, so teams should confirm which limit applies to their planned program before choosing a tier.

Platforms

GrowSurf supports Android, iOS, web, and API platforms. That range, alongside mobile SDKs and a REST API, is relevant to teams embedding referral workflows in apps as well as web products.

Who it's for

GrowSurf is a stronger fit for product and marketing teams at B2C, SaaS, fintech, and other fast-growing companies that want to connect referral programs to their stack. It is less compelling for eCommerce, retail, or service businesses, which GrowSurf itself identifies as poor-fit categories. Teams should also be comfortable managing participant thresholds and possible prorated upgrades as a program expands.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad integration and developer tooling can support custom product connections; automated link creation and reward delivery reduce recurring program administration; annual Startup and Business plans include a 14-day trial.
Cons: Paid referral tiers cap participants, programs, and team members; exceeding participant limits can cause an automatic prorated upgrade; the free affiliate plan charges a 3% success fee; monthly paid plans carry higher monthly prices than yearly billing.

Alternatives

For teams comparing categories, see Referral Marketing Software and Referral Management Software.

ReferralHero is worth considering for a free starting tier: its Free Forever Plan supports up to 25 subscribers and includes PRO features, with ReferralHero branding.
RefRef is a fit for teams that prioritize a self-hosted or open-source option; its free cloud plan includes unlimited programs and participants, reward automation, and affiliate management.
Ambassador is another paid option for teams seeking referral, affiliate, partner, and employee program automation.
Partnero may suit teams seeking a lower-priced annual entry: its Starter plan is 49.00 USD per month, billed annually, with 1 program and 1 team member.
Tolt is an alternative for teams with affiliate earnings up to $10,000/month that want its Basic plan’s manual payouts; it costs 69.00 USD per month.
InviteReferrals is another option for teams wanting Android and iOS coverage alongside API and web platforms.
Referral Rock is an alternative with an Operator Plan at 250.00 USD per month and a stated 10,000 base-member allowance.
FirstPromoter is worth a look for teams seeking a 49.00 USD per month Starter plan with 1,000 affiliates and 3 campaigns.

Verdict

Choose GrowSurf if a growing product or marketing team needs referral and affiliate workflows with substantial API, SDK, and integration coverage, and can plan around participant-based pricing. Look elsewhere if your business is in one of its poor-fit categories, if the prorated upgrade exposure is undesirable, or if a free affiliate plan’s 3% success fee does not suit your economics.
