Overview

IceHrm covers administration from employee records and time off through payroll, recruitment and performance reviews. Role-based permissions and an audit log give administrators controls over access and activity, while self-service gives employees a way to handle their own HR tasks. This breadth suits organizations consolidating several workflows; teams looking for only one narrow HR function may find the platform’s edition choices unnecessary.

Open Source provides a core set of employee, attendance, payroll, document, project and reporting functions. Cloud adds managed hosting, while IceHrmPro is priced for larger deployments. Premium extensions cannot be bought separately or used with Open Source, so extension needs should factor into the edition decision.

Key features

Leave, attendance and time

Leave management combines live balances, accruals, manual adjustments, approval chains and company or team holiday calendars. Employees can clock in and out on web or mobile with work location captured, and timesheets support submission and approval. These workflows are useful for organizations that need time and leave records tied to HR operations rather than handled separately.

Payroll, expenses and talent

Payroll supports custom columns, pay groups, multiple currencies and payslip design. Expense claims can include receipts and move through approval for reimbursement via payroll. Performance review cycles include goals and 360-degree feedback, while recruitment pipelines organize candidate profiles and interview scheduling. The range is a strength for teams that want these processes under one roof, though premium extension requirements push users toward paid hosted editions.

Integration and security

A REST API with bearer-token authentication supports external integrations and custom applications. The editions comparison includes Microsoft Entra ID, SAML 2.0 and LDAP/Active Directory sign-on options. For Cloud, IceHrm says personally identifiable database data is encrypted with AES 256-bit encryption, files are stored privately and encrypted, and customer data is backed up in at least two locations. Its security policy sets availability, integrity and confidentiality as goals and describes regular internal audits. IceHrm also says it complies with the CISPE Data Protection Code of Conduct and that customers own their data and can request deletion.

Pricing

IceHrm is freemium, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. The Cloud pricing entry gives a headline price of 12.00 USD per month, billed $ 12 /mo total for up to 6 employees, and $1.10/employee; managed hosting and email support are included. Listed pricing covers up to 100 employees, with custom pricing over 100. The employee thresholds matter: confirm which figure applies to the intended team before budgeting.

IceHrm Open Source has no listed price and includes employee profiles, attendance and clock-in/out, payroll, documents, projects and timesheets, and reports. It is the obvious starting point for teams that want those core functions without a published subscription price, but it excludes premium extensions and comes with community support.

IceHrm Enterprise has custom pricing and unlimited employees, making it relevant for organizations that need uncapped scale. IceHrmPro is 1799.00 USD per month, billed From $1,799 for up to 50 employees, up to 500; the starting price covers up to 50 employees, with plans reaching up to 500. Its price makes it a materially different proposition from Cloud, so it is best considered by larger teams that need the Pro edition rather than as a simple step up for a small workforce.

Platforms

IceHrm supports web, self-hosted deployments, an API, and dedicated iOS and Android apps. The mobile app supports employee access, and the mobile web experience provides another route for staff working away from a desktop. Self-hosting and API access give technical teams more deployment and integration options than a web-only service.

Who it's for

IceHrm fits organizations that want employee administration, leave, attendance, payroll and talent processes in one system, especially where an API, role-based permissions, self-service and mobile access matter. It is less suited to teams that need premium extensions but cannot justify Cloud or IceHrmPro, or to buyers who only need a single focused HR tool.

Pros and cons

Broad HR coverage: leave, time, payroll, expenses, recruitment and performance processes can share a platform.
Integration and access options: a REST API, self-hosting, mobile apps and several listed sign-on options support varied technical environments.
Meaningful Cloud safeguards: encryption, private file storage and backups in at least two locations address important data-handling concerns.
Edition-dependent extensions: Open Source users cannot add premium extensions separately, which can force a move to Cloud or IceHrmPro.
Plan thresholds need scrutiny: Cloud pricing is framed around both up to 6 employees and managed hosting up to 100, while IceHrmPro starts at a much higher monthly price.

Verdict

Choose IceHrm if your organization wants a broad HR system with employee self-service, time and leave workflows, payroll, talent processes and API access in one platform. Its strongest case is functional breadth paired with deployment and integration options. Look elsewhere if premium extensions are essential but Cloud or IceHrmPro pricing is out of reach, or if your requirements are narrow enough that a smaller, more focused tool is the better fit.
