Overview

Icovela turns a subject description and chosen style into app icon images, with batch generation for a consistent set. More than 12 preset styles offer a quick starting point; custom styles learned from one to four reference images give teams a way to steer results toward an existing visual direction. Photo-to-3D conversion adds a distinct option for concepts that call for a dimensional look.

Generated sets can include transparent PNGs in multiple sizes, while the homepage preview also names SVG and ICNS. The terms allow personal and commercial use and give users ownership of generated icons. That does not mean exclusivity: Icovela does not guarantee an icon will be unique or free of resemblance to existing work.

Key features

Batch icon generation: A complete set can be generated in one batch, useful when a project needs coordinated icons rather than a single image. Each generation costs 10 credits, so larger batches make credit budgeting important.
Preset and reference-based styles: The 12+ advertised presets support fast exploration. Custom styles derived from one to four images better suit teams trying to align output with an established look.
Photo-to-3D: The service can turn a photo into a 3D icon. The free plan includes five uses, making it possible to try this workflow before buying credits.
Exports and API: Icovela offers PNG, SVG, and ICNS exports and a public API for programmatic generation. The API is relevant to teams automating icon creation; the listed export formats cover raster, vector, and Apple icon needs.
Ownership and account terms: Users retain ownership and may use icons commercially or personally, but should review outputs for resemblance before relying on them as distinctive brand assets. A valid Google account is required to use the service.

Pricing

Icovela is freemium, with a free plan and paid options from $5.99. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 200 credits one-time plus five Photo to 3D Icon uses. At 10 credits per generation, that is a limited starter allowance rather than a recurring monthly quota.

One-time packs suit users who want credits without a subscription: Launch Offer is 2.99 USD per once for 200 credits, available for 10 hours after signup; A Cup of Coffee is 5.99 USD per once for 300 credits; A Nice Lunch is 12.99 USD per once for 800 credits; and A Fancy Dinner is 24.99 USD per once for 1,800 credits. These credits never expire, which is useful for occasional projects. The launch offer has a short signup window.

For recurring work, Starter is 7.99 USD per month, billed $7.99/mo, for 600 credits/month, up to 60 icons/month, all preset styles, and 10% off credit packs. It is the lower-cost subscription for preset-based production, but does not include the custom-style access or batch generation included in Pro. Pro is 7.50 USD per month for the first month, then renews at $14.99/mo; it includes 1,200 credits/month, up to 120 icons/month, all styles including custom style, batch generation, and 10% off credit packs. It is the better fit when custom styling and batch workflows justify the renewal price. Business is 29.99 USD per month, billed $29.99/mo, and includes 3,000 credits/month, up to 300 icons/month, all styles, batch generation, and team sharing (soon); the team-sharing feature is not yet available.

Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime, and failed generations caused by server errors are automatically refunded. The free plan has no recurring credit allowance, unlike the monthly plans, while purchased one-time credits do not expire.

Platforms

Icovela runs on the web and provides an API. The API makes it a stronger option for teams integrating generation into a workflow than for users seeking only a standalone design editor.

Who it's for

Icovela fits indie developers and product teams that need app icon concepts, coordinated sets, and export choices, especially when API access or reference-driven styling matters. It is less suitable when a brand requires guaranteed originality or when a project needs predictable, high-volume output without managing per-generation credits.

Pros and cons

Pro: Batch sets and multiple export formats make it useful for producing coordinated assets across app contexts.
Pro: Custom styles from reference images and a public API support visual alignment and programmatic workflows.
Pro: One-time credits never expire, so occasional users can buy for a project without a monthly commitment.
Con: Every generation consumes 10 credits, and the free allowance is one-time, limiting repeated experimentation without a purchase.
Con: Commercial-use permission does not guarantee uniqueness, a material drawback for logos or other identity-critical artwork.
Con: Use requires a valid Google account, and Business team sharing is still marked as coming soon.

Alternatives

For a broader image-generation toolkit, BudgetPixel AI offers a free monthly allowance and tools spanning image editing, enhancement, and video generation, rather than focusing on app icon sets. Choose CleanVector when vector-oriented editing and exports are the priority: its free plan includes a permanent SVG download, unlimited PNG exports, and a color editor. Imagcon is another freemium option, with Android and iOS alongside web and API access and credits that cover generations, edits, and full icon exports.

Plugger is a paid API and web platform with image, video, and sound generation. IconKit sells one-time credit packs and is an alternative for buyers seeking a credit-pack model. SVG Maker AI offers a free trial and a manual SVG editor workspace, making it worth considering for SVG-focused work. Limora AI is a paid API and web option with monthly project credits and an MCP connection. Appilot offers a free plan and supports Android, iOS, and web.

Verdict

Choose Icovela if you need app-specific icon sets, reference-guided styles, or API-based generation and can budget around credits per output. Its combination of batch generation, formats, and non-expiring one-time packs is compelling for project-based work. Look elsewhere when guaranteed originality or a recurring free quota is essential.
