Overview

Attendance, gradebook, parent access, fee management, admissions and enrollment, and transport management sit within a district-focused SIS that the company describes as having more than 1,500 tools. Districts can use it alongside learning, food service, communications, online registration, payment processing, dropout prevention, activity registration, and school stores through a single login. That breadth may reduce fragmentation across routine operations, but it is more platform than a district needs if it is buying only one narrow function.

Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Blaine, Minnesota, Infinite Campus serves school districts, regional consortia, state departments of education, and the federal government.

Key features

Family and student access

Campus Parent brings grades, assignments, attendance, food service, announcements, school stores, fees, and activity registration to families. Campus Student gives students access to grades and assignments; whether they can submit assignments depends on district offerings. The apps provide a useful route to routine school information, while their scope is partly determined by each district’s configuration.

Both apps are available on iTunes and Google Play and require Android 5.0 or later or iOS 13.4 or later. Those minimum versions are worth checking against the devices families and students actually use.

Data exchange and oversight

API setup, ad hoc reports, and automated extraction tools support data exchange with third-party applications. Credentialed systems can retrieve roster and section data through OneRoster, and assignments, grades, and scores when enabled. The key constraint is directional: non-partner vendors may request roster data, but cannot send data, including grades, back to Campus. Districts whose workflows depend on two-way exchange should confirm the required integration path before choosing it. Technical Services can scope custom integrations and quote fee-for-service work where possible.

Infinite Campus says it hosts customer data in secure U.S.-based data centers, keeps a separate database for each SIS site, and retains daily backups for 30 days unless a contract requires otherwise. It reports annual SOC audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests, and adherence to FERPA, COPPA, and other relevant privacy laws. A detailed SOC 2 report is available after a customer signs an NDA. These controls and the separate databases are relevant for districts assessing data handling, though they do not remove the need for an organization’s own security review.

Support and updates

Authorized district contacts can use a secure case portal or toll-free number for support; managed-services customers receive 24/7 support for system outages. Campus Community adds round-the-clock online access to more than 6,000 knowledge-base resources and forums. The company also says it ships 13 product releases each year at no additional cost, giving districts a regular update cadence without a separate release charge.

Pricing

Infinite Campus is paid software with custom pricing on request. The company does not publish plan tiers or seat-based prices, so districts should request a quote that reflects their required modules and services. Campus add-ons include Food Service, Messenger with Voice, Online Registration, Payments, Analytics, Data, Learning, Workflow, and Report Translation products; districts should establish which components are included in their proposal.

Platforms

Infinite Campus is available on web, Android, and iOS, and offers an API. The mobile apps’ operating-system minimums are Android 5.0 and iOS 13.4.

Who it's for

Districts and public-sector education organizations that want student records alongside related services, family and student apps, and established data-exchange options are the clearest fit. It is less suitable when a district needs non-partner vendors to write grades into Campus through OneRoster, or when only a focused standalone function is needed.

Pros and cons

Broad district scope: More than 1,500 tools and related services can be brought together through one login, supporting organizations that want connected workflows.
Useful family and student access: Parent and student apps cover grades and assignments, with the parent app also spanning attendance, fees, food service, and activities.
Defined operational safeguards: Separate SIS-site databases, daily backups retained for 30 days, and reported security audits provide concrete points for district review.
OneRoster is not fully bidirectional for non-partners: Those vendors can request roster data but cannot send grades or other data back to Campus.
Custom pricing requires scoping: No public plan tiers or seat prices make budget comparison dependent on a district-specific quote.

Alternatives

For a narrower financial-management comparison, Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT offers custom pricing based on organizational needs, with implementation, training, and ongoing support potentially included.

Fedena is worth considering for teams seeking a freemium option with a free trial; its Standard plan is 999.00 USD per year and includes unlimited users alongside core and standard modules and one-to-one online training.

Classe365 has a free trial and separately priced modules, including Task Module, Learning Management System, and Finance and accounting at 75.00 USD per month each; consider it when modular purchasing is preferable.

Klasstra offers a Starter plan at 9999.00 INR per year, with stated caps of 300 students, 15 teachers, and 5 admin users across one campus; it may suit a smaller operation comfortable with those limits.

Bromcom MIS uses per-pupil pricing that varies by establishment type and package, with a package spanning core MIS and related school functions.

Classter is another paid option with custom pricing that varies by institution size, type, and selected modules.

Edsby is a K–12 digital learning platform starting at 5.00 USD per year per student, with annual pricing varying by student count; consider it when that learning-platform scope is the priority.

CircleUp offers a free plan capped at 10 families, with event management and class registration; it is a more focused option for those needs.

Verdict

Infinite Campus is a strong candidate for districts that want student records, related school workflows, and family and student access under one platform. Its broad scope and district-oriented support are the main reasons to choose it; districts that require non-partner vendors to write grades into Campus, or need a public price for straightforward budgeting, should look elsewhere.
