Overview

Internxt says Drive uses zero-knowledge and post-quantum encryption, including Kyber 512 and AES-256. Shared files can be sent using password-protected encrypted links, and those links can be revoked. That gives users a way to control access after sharing, rather than leaving a link permanently usable. Scheduled encrypted backups add protection against ransomware and accidental loss, though the amount they can cover depends on a plan’s storage quota and per-file limit.

Internxt states that Drive is HIPAA, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 compliant, and says its code is publicly available on GitHub and has been externally audited. These credentials and the open code are relevant to organizations weighing privacy and compliance needs, but they do not replace checking whether a particular plan fits the workload.

Key features

Encrypted sharing: Password-protected, revocable links suit teams sharing files that should not remain accessible indefinitely.
Scheduled backups: Encrypted scheduled backups give Drive a role beyond everyday syncing, especially for users concerned about accidental loss or ransomware.
Developer access: Internxt CLI provides command-line access to Drive data and supports WebDAV. Rclone and NAS support also extend syncing, backup, and management options for people working with those tools.
File recovery: File versioning is supported, while trash retention ranges from 7 to 30 days on paid plans. The shorter window on the entry plan leaves less time to recover deleted files than the higher tiers.

Pricing

Internxt uses a freemium model. The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 1 GB of encrypted cloud storage, making it a small-scale way to try the service rather than a substantial library destination.

Essential: 9.99 EUR per year, billed monthly for one year. It includes 1 TB storage, a 10 GB per-file limit, and 7-day trash retention. This is the lowest paid tier, but the short recovery window and lower file cap matter for large media or longer retention needs.
Premium: 19.99 EUR per year, billed monthly for one year. It raises capacity to 3 TB, file size to 50 GB, and trash retention to 14 days, a more balanced fit for larger personal or shared libraries.
Ultimate: 29.99 EUR per year, billed monthly for one year. Its 5 TB quota, 100 GB per-file limit, and 30-day trash retention make it the strongest fit for users with substantial storage needs or who want a longer recovery period.
Essential Lifetime, Premium Lifetime, and Ultimate Lifetime: Custom pricing, with 1 TB, 3 TB, and 5 TB storage respectively.

The annual plans are billed monthly but charged for one year, so the term is longer than a month-to-month commitment. Across the paid tiers, file-size limits rise from 10 GB to 100 GB and trash retention from 7 to 30 days; users should match both limits to the files they handle and how long they may need to recover deleted items.

Platforms

Drive is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and the web, with API access also listed. That breadth suits teams with mixed desktop and mobile environments, while CLI, WebDAV, Rclone, and NAS support provide additional routes for developer and storage workflows.

Who it's for

Internxt is a good fit for individuals and families who prioritize encrypted storage and want backup scheduling, and for developers who value command-line and WebDAV access. Businesses may find the stated compliance credentials relevant, but should also confirm that each plan’s quotas and recovery window meet their file-handling requirements. It is less suitable when a 1 GB free allocation or the paid per-file and trash limits cannot accommodate the library.

Pros and cons

Pro — Privacy-focused protections: Zero-knowledge and post-quantum encryption, plus encrypted sharing links that can be revoked, put access control at the center of the service.
Pro — Multiple backup and developer paths: Scheduled backups, CLI, WebDAV, Rclone, and NAS support accommodate more than a basic sync-folder workflow.
Pro — Broad platform coverage: Desktop, mobile, web, and API access make it practical for mixed environments.
Con — Minimal free capacity: The free plan’s 1 GB is unlikely to hold a substantial file collection.
Con — Limits vary by paid tier: The entry plan caps individual files at 10 GB and trash retention at 7 days, potentially restrictive for large files or delayed recovery.
Con — Annual commitment: Paid annual plans are billed monthly but charged for one year, which is less flexible than a monthly term.

Alternatives

For other storage and sharing options, compare Cloud Storage Services, File Sharing Software, and Secure Cloud Storage.

Dropbox Sign is worth considering when the priority is electronic signature requests rather than cloud file storage.
Choose Filen if an open-source license for all its apps is a central requirement.
Google Cloud Storage is an alternative for readers seeking usage-based cloud storage pricing.
Nextcloud Files is an option for teams considering a plan that starts at 100 users.
FileLu is an alternative with a listed monthly premium plan at 6.00 USD per month.
Amazon S3 is an option for users looking for usage-based pricing with no minimum charge.
IDrive offers a 100 GB, one-user plan at 0.25 USD per month.
Jottacloud is another freemium storage alternative, with a 5 GB free plan and an Unlimited plan at 12.99 USD per month.

Verdict

Choose Internxt Drive if encrypted storage, revocable sharing, scheduled backups, and developer access belong in the same stack. Its clearest strength is pairing privacy-oriented controls with practical backup and integration options across major platforms. Look elsewhere if the free tier is too small, you need higher file or recovery limits than a chosen plan allows, or you cannot accept an annual commitment.
