Overview

Nuntly combines transactional sending with inbound inboxes, threaded message storage, attachment access, and API-based replies. Teams can send individual or bulk email instantly or on a schedule, using templates or not. This makes it a stronger fit for product workflows that span notifications and responses than for teams seeking a campaign-first email tool.

A dashboard and webhooks surface delivery, opens, clicks, bounces, complaints, and inbound messages, with logs retained for up to 30 days on the standard plans. Nuntly reports more than 27 million emails delivered and over 100 developer teams. Those figures offer context, but the practical case rests on its combined send-and-receive workflow and observability.

Key features

API coverage and SDKs

The REST API covers domains, keys, webhooks, analytics, sending, receiving, and team members. TypeScript and Java SDKs include typed errors, pagination helpers, and retries, reducing integration work for those stacks. Teams using other languages can still use the REST API, though the stated SDK coverage is narrower.

Inbound email and agent workflows

Custom inboxes, automatic thread grouping, namespaces, attachment access, inbound webhooks, and a Reply API give applications a route to handle responses as part of their own workflow. AI agents can use structured JSON, thread context, and memory at global, inbox, or thread scope; agent logic can run in customer infrastructure with Claude, GPT, Gemini, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or a custom pipeline. This is useful when email replies belong inside an application or agent flow, but it does not remove the need to build and operate that logic.

Events, security, and delivery controls

Webhooks report delivery, opens, clicks, and bounces in real time, with retries, exponential backoff, filtering, replay, payload inspection, and signature verification. Domains support DKIM, SPF, and DMARC. Nuntly says data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3, and that it is GDPR compliant and hosted and processed in Europe by default. Dedicated IPs are a paid-plan add-on, not a default feature.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 EUR per free, billed monthly, and includes 3,000 emails per month, capped at 100 per day, one domain, one inbox, 30-day retention, and email support. No credit card is required. It is a sensible way to build and evaluate a low-volume workflow, but the daily cap can rule it out for bursty traffic even when monthly volume is modest.

Starter costs 10.00 EUR per month, billed 10€/month, for up to 10,000 monthly emails, 10 domains, 10 inboxes, 30-day retention, email support, and Discord community support. It removes the free plan's monthly volume ceiling for a small production setup, while still imposing the same 30-day retention limit.

Scale costs 68.00 EUR per month, billed 68€/month, and raises the quota to 100,000 emails monthly, with 1,000 domains, 100 inboxes, 30-day retention, and email and Slack support. Dedicated IPs are an add-on. This suits teams operating multiple domains or inboxes; it costs substantially more than Starter, so the extra capacity matters only if the higher quota or support channel is useful.

Enterprise has custom pricing and flexible sending volume, unlimited inboxes, configurable retention, priority support, and dedicated IPs as an add-on. It is the fit for organizations that need flexible volume or retention rather than a published fixed tier. The stated plan details do not give a seat allowance.

Platforms

Nuntly is available through an API and web interface. It supports REST API access and SDKs, with TypeScript and Java specifically documented. Webhooks provide event delivery alongside dashboard monitoring.

Who it's for

Choose Nuntly when an application needs to send transactional messages and also receive, thread, inspect, or reply to email through one API. It is particularly relevant to teams building agent-assisted inbox workflows or needing delivery events in their own systems. Look elsewhere if the requirement is primarily visual campaign management, or if the free tier's daily cap cannot accommodate expected traffic.

Pros and cons

Unified outbound and inbound APIs: sending, inboxes, threads, attachments, and replies can share one application integration.
Useful operational visibility: event webhooks include retries and replay, while logs and dashboard monitoring help diagnose delivery and engagement for up to 30 days on standard plans.
Low-friction entry: the free plan requires no card, but its 100-per-day cap limits production use with concentrated sending.
Costs rise with scale: the jump from Starter at 10.00 EUR per month to Scale at 68.00 EUR per month buys a much larger quota and support options, but may be excessive for teams that only need a modest increase.
SDK coverage is selective: TypeScript and Java SDKs are documented; other integrations can use REST, but lack the specifically stated SDK support.

Alternatives

Consider transactional email software options if you want to compare the category broadly. Postmark is worth considering for a smaller free-volume requirement: its free plan allows 100 emails per month, with no overages and no expiration. Twilio SendGrid offers a free trial capped at 100 emails per day and 100 contacts for 60 days, so it is an option for a time-limited evaluation.

Maileroo gives free users 3,000 outbound and 1,000 inbound emails monthly across two custom domains, which may suit a team comparing included inbound volume. Resend Broadcasts has a free plan with 3,000 monthly emails, 100 per day, and three domains, useful when a larger free domain allowance matters.

SMTP2GO is another freemium API-and-web option, with 1,000 monthly emails on its free plan and phone and chat support limited to 14 days. Hyvor Relay may suit teams prioritizing self-hosted, open-source deployment: its self-hosted plan has unlimited usage and all features under an AGPL-3.0 license, with community support.

MailerSend provides API, web, and iOS access, while its free plan includes 500 monthly emails, 100 daily API requests, one domain, and one template. Mailmark is another freemium option with API, self-hosted, and web platforms.

Verdict

Nuntly is a strong fit for developers who need transactional sending and inbound reply handling together, especially when webhooks and thread-aware workflows matter. Its broad API scope and observability are the reasons to choose it; the free tier's daily cap and the 68.00 EUR per month step to Scale are reasons to look elsewhere if traffic is low, campaign-focused, or price-sensitive.
