Overview

Judge.me pairs review collection with storefront displays, integrations, AI tools, and an API that app developers access through OAuth. Its free plan makes it practical to build review coverage without a request limit, while the paid Awesome plan adds advanced features. Teams choosing it should treat Shopify as a firm platform dependency, not just a convenient integration.

Key features

Review collection and display

Both photo and video review requests are supported, and the Free plan includes unlimited requests. A review widget and star rating badge are also included at no cost. Carousels and other display formats give merchants more ways to surface customer feedback, although the free-plan inclusions do not establish that every format is available without upgrading.

Integrations, syndication, and AI

The integration directory includes Klaviyo, Omnisend, Shopify Flow, Zapier, and LoyaltyLion, useful for merchants connecting review activity with marketing, automation, and loyalty tools. The Shop app integration can send Judge.me reviews to Shop and return eligible Shop reviews to Judge.me. Judge.me also describes AI tools for review summaries, reply suggestions, and translations, giving teams ways to work with review content beyond simply collecting it.

API and security

An API with OAuth access for app developers makes Judge.me a better fit for teams that need to connect review data programmatically. The company states that it is SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certified, relevant credentials for organizations weighing vendor security posture.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited review requests, a review widget, a star rating badge, CSV imports, and photo and video review requests. It is a capable starting point for merchants who need core collection and display without a recurring fee; its stated inclusions do not cover every advanced capability.

Awesome costs 15.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with no yearly plan. It includes Free features plus advanced features, and offers a 15-day free trial. The monthly-only billing avoids an annual commitment but gives buyers no yearly discount option. Both Free and Awesome include advertised 24/7 human support by chat and email, so support access is not reserved for paying customers.

Platforms

Judge.me is exclusively available as a Shopify app; it has sunset apps for WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Square, Duda, and PrestaShop. Some platform-independent widgets on Awesome can appear on external storefront pages, but the store itself must remain on Shopify. That distinction rules it out for merchants whose commerce platform is elsewhere, even if they can embed a widget.

Who it's for

Judge.me fits Shopify merchants who want unlimited review requests, photo and video collection, straightforward storefront displays, and integrations or API access for a broader stack. It is less suitable for teams that need their review platform to follow them across commerce systems or whose store is not on Shopify.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited requests and photo and video review requests on Free let merchants build review volume without a request quota.
Pro: A widget, star rating badge, and CSV imports are included at no charge, covering basic display and migration needs.
Pro: API access, OAuth, and integrations including Zapier and Shopify Flow support custom connections and workflow automation.
Pro: 24/7 human chat and email support is advertised on both plans, including Free.
Con: The store must stay on Shopify; external widgets do not make Judge.me a cross-platform store app.
Con: Awesome is monthly-only, with no yearly plan for buyers seeking annual billing.
Con: The free plan's stated inclusions are narrower than the full set of display options and advanced features, so merchants needing those capabilities may have to pay.

Alternatives

For another freemium review platform, Yotpo Reviews has a Free plan capped at 50 orders per month and 500 outgoing emails, plus a 15.00 USD per month Starter plan; consider it when that order-based free tier better matches your volume needs.

Reviewgrower offers a free tier with one location, limited email, three review profiles, one user, and five video reviews per month, alongside a review widget; its stated limits make it a different fit for teams prioritizing review profiles and local tracking constraints.

Loox has a free Beginner plan limited to 500 total orders and billed as part of Shopify’s 30-day subscription billing period with no annual commitment; it is worth considering if that order-capped Shopify billing arrangement suits your store.

LocalClarity offers Professional at 16.00 USD per month when billed yearly, or $20.00/mo billed monthly, per location, with 50+ local review sources; choose it when local review-source coverage and per-location pricing are the better match.

AppFollow has a free plan with two apps, ten competitor apps, 100 manual replies per month, and seven days of historical data; it is an alternative to consider for app-focused review management.

Bazaarvoice Ratings & Reviews offers enterprise options with expanded platform flexibility and premium client-success offerings.

Verdict

Judge.me is a strong choice for Shopify merchants who want generous free review collection, usable storefront display tools, and room to connect review data through integrations or an API. Its main reason to choose is the unlimited Free-plan requests paired with photo and video review support. Look elsewhere if the store is not on Shopify or platform flexibility is a requirement.
