Overview

KIRI brings photogrammetry, Neural Surface Reconstruction, and 3D Gaussian Splatting together in one scanning product. Photo Scan builds detailed models from photos; LiDAR Scan adds model capture, floor plans, and quick scene visualizations on LiDAR-equipped iOS devices. Featureless Object Scan targets shiny, reflective, transparent, and low-texture objects, giving users an option when conventional photo capture is a poor match.

The breadth is useful, but processing depends on the cloud: uploaded photos and videos are processed on KIRI servers to reconstruct models and visualizations. KIRI says transmitted user data is encrypted and used only for notification purposes. That does not change the practical constraint for teams with local-processing requirements: running the scanning algorithm on a PC is not on the company's roadmap at the moment.

Key features

Capture methods for different subjects

Photo Scan is the general-purpose route for creating models from images. LiDAR Scan is more specialized, requiring a LiDAR-equipped iOS device, and covers both model capture and floor plans as well as quick scene visualization. Featureless Object Scan is the more distinctive option for reflective, transparent, shiny, or low-texture subjects. Together, these modes make KIRI more flexible than a photo-only workflow, though the LiDAR capability is limited to compatible iOS hardware.

Model tools and integrations

Pro adds PBR materials, quad mesh, automatic rig generation, and mesh-inclusive 3D Gaussian Splatting scans. Those additions matter to users who need editable or presentation-ready results rather than a basic reconstruction. KIRI also describes a website 3D model embedder, a UE5 3DGS plug-in, and STL export for 3D printing, which connect scanning to publishing, game-engine, and fabrication workflows.

API and support

The API covers Photo Scan, Featureless Scan, and 3DGS Scan; each call costs one credit regardless of method. That flat call cost is straightforward to budget, but teams should account for the 500-credit minimum recharge. KIRI provides email contact, a developer Discord, and a feedback form for support and product discussion.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Basic	0.00 USD per free	Up to 150 photos, max 2 GB per scan, unlimited scans and free exports
Monthly Pro Plan	17.99 USD per month	Up to 500 photos, max 5 GB per scan, faster queue processing, advanced scanning and modeling features, unlimited free exports
Yearly Pro Plan	79.99 USD per year	Up to 500 photos, max 5 GB per scan, faster queue processing, advanced scanning and modeling features, unlimited free exports
API credits	1.00 USD per once	One credit per API call; 500-credit minimum recharge; 10 free test credits at sign-up

Basic is unusually accommodating on volume of jobs and exports, making it a sensible starting point for occasional scanning. Its 150-photo and 2 GB per-scan ceilings can constrain detailed or larger captures. Pro raises those limits to 500 photos and 5 GB per scan, speeds queue processing, and unlocks advanced tools; the yearly plan costs less over a year than paying monthly, while retaining the same stated allowances. API users pay per call after the included test credits, but the minimum recharge means the entry commitment is 500 USD.

Platforms

KIRI supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. LiDAR scanning specifically requires a LiDAR-equipped iOS device. Deployment is both cloud and local in the platform classification, but the scanning algorithm itself is not planned for local PC execution; uploaded photos and videos are processed on cloud servers. Teams should distinguish that deployment label from a local reconstruction option.

Who it's for

KIRI fits 3D printing enthusiasts who want STL export, artists who need model tools such as quad mesh and rig generation, and scientific researchers who need photo-based or LiDAR capture. It also suits developers integrating photo, featureless-object, or 3DGS scans through the API, provided the per-call credit model and recharge threshold work for their usage. Choose another approach if captures must remain local or routinely exceed Pro's 5 GB per-scan ceiling.

Pros and cons

Pro: Photo, LiDAR, featureless-object, and 3DGS workflows cover a wider range of subjects and outputs than a single capture method.
Pro: Basic includes unlimited scans and free exports, with a 150-photo allowance and 2 GB per-scan cap for zero cost.
Pro: Pro combines higher capture limits and faster queue processing with modeling tools, while the yearly plan is 79.99 USD per year.
Con: Reconstruction processes uploaded media on cloud servers, so KIRI does not suit a local-only scanning requirement.
Con: The API's 500-credit minimum recharge creates a substantial initial spend for teams with occasional or low call volume.
Con: LiDAR Scan depends on LiDAR-equipped iOS hardware, limiting that method to users with compatible devices.

Verdict

KIRI Engine is a strong fit for makers and 3D teams that want several scanning methods, useful Pro modeling tools, and a free way to produce and export models. Its standout case is handling varied subjects, including featureless objects, without charging per scan on Basic. Look elsewhere if local processing is mandatory, or if your API workload cannot justify a 500-credit minimum recharge.
