Overview

Kits AI brings voice creation and transformation together with vocal enhancement and removal, stem splitting, AI mastering, harmonies, pitch editing, and key and BPM detection. That breadth is useful for producers who want several vocal tasks in one toolkit, though teams seeking only a narrow voice-conversion function may not need the extra production features.

Kits says its model voices are licensed and sourced from artists, and that artists in its artist model library benefit through revenue sharing. Its privacy policy also permits submitted and generated audio to be used to improve the services, including training or improving related AI and machine-learning models. That trade-off deserves attention when working with audio that should not contribute to service improvement.

Key features

Voice and production tools

Voice cloning and changing are paired with tools for editing, cleaning, and shaping vocals. The library of more than 100 royalty-free artists gives users a range of voices for AI voice changing. For a producer, the combination can support conversion and follow-on vocal work in the same environment; it is less compelling if the job is simply to convert a voice and no other listed tools are needed.

Desktop workflow and API

The Windows desktop app supports drag-and-drop into a DAW or other music-production software and simultaneous auditioning of multiple vocal models. That makes it a practical option for comparing models in a production workflow. Browser access offers another route without requiring the desktop app.

The API provides voice conversion, voice blending, and vocal removal endpoints for integration into applications. Text-to-speech was deprecated from the API as of September 22, 2025, so developers needing that capability should look elsewhere rather than build around Kits AI's API.

Pricing

Kits AI uses a freemium model, with paid plans billed monthly. The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 15 conversion minutes, zero voice slots, zero download minutes, voice designer/blender, and Kits generative vocals. It is suitable for trying the tools and exploring the included vocal features, but the lack of voice slots and download minutes sharply limits custom-voice use and exporting.

Starter costs 10.00 USD per month and adds unlimited conversions, two voice slots, 15 download minutes, professional voice cloning, advanced settings, and the choir tool. It is the entry paid option for users who need cloning and a small number of custom voices, but its download allowance remains limited.

Producer costs 30.00 USD per month and includes unlimited conversions, unlimited voice slots, 60 download minutes, and everything on Starter. It suits users managing multiple voices who need more export capacity. Professional costs 60.00 USD per month and includes everything on Producer, unlimited download minutes, and unlimited downloads subject to fair use. That is the clearest fit for sustained export-heavy work, though fair-use terms still apply.

After cancellation, additional features remain available until the billing period ends, but custom AI voice clones are locked and custom voices are frozen until subscription renewal. Plan around that restriction if custom voices are central to a project. Kits directs customers to its FAQ or support request form for help with tools and subscriptions.

Platforms

Kits AI is available through its API, browser, and Windows desktop app. The app's DAW drag-and-drop support and model auditioning favor desktop production, while the API is aimed at integrating conversion, blending, or vocal removal into applications. Kits says it uses reasonable security measures, including computer safeguards and secured files and facilities, while cautioning that electronic transmissions may not be secure.

Who it's for

Kits AI is best suited to vocal producers and musicians who can use several voice and audio tools together, especially those who want a Windows app alongside browser access. Developers can consider it for the listed conversion, blending, and removal API endpoints, but not for text-to-speech through that API. Users with strict requirements against service use of submitted or generated audio should consider the privacy policy before uploading.

Pros and cons

Pros: Voice conversion and cloning sit alongside vocal processing, stem splitting, mastering, harmonies, pitch editing, and key and BPM detection, making it relevant to broader vocal workflows.
Pros: The Windows app supports DAW drag-and-drop and auditioning multiple vocal models, while API endpoints cover conversion, blending, and vocal removal.
Pros: Kits says its model voices are licensed and sourced from artists, with revenue sharing for artists in its artist model library.
Cons: The free plan has zero voice slots and zero download minutes, so it is restrictive for custom-voice work and exports.
Cons: Submitted and generated audio may be used to improve services, including related AI and machine-learning models.
Cons: Text-to-speech is no longer part of the API, and cancellation locks custom AI voice clones and freezes custom voices until subscription renewal.

Alternatives

For a different voice-conversion option, compare Revocalize AI, which has a free plan and supports a broader range of platforms, including mobile, desktop, web, and self-hosted environments. Its free plan includes five conversion minutes per month and one Starter AI voice, making it a compact starting point rather than a like-for-like export allowance.

Musicful is another freemium option with mobile, API, and web platforms. For a free web-based option, Audimee offers 15 minutes of conversions, 11 royalty-free voices, and MP3 downloads for personal use; its free tier has no custom voice model slots or Harmony Maker.

Developers looking for a free, self-hosted singing model can consider SoulX-Singer, whose code and model weights are available under Apache 2.0. For lyric-first draft generation rather than Kits AI's vocal toolkit, LyricToMelody AI offers a free start with 20 credits, lyric-first generation, audio exports, and seven-day project retention.

NEUTRINO is free for general music and audio production, though system integration or using generated audio inside an application requires separate permission. VoiSona Song is another freemium singing-software option. For developers prepared to supply their own data and assets, DiffSinger is a self-hosted, Apache-2.0 licensed repository that requires Python 3.10 or later.

Verdict

Kits AI is a strong fit for musicians and vocal producers who want voice conversion and cloning alongside a wider set of vocal-production tools, with desktop, browser, and API routes to use them. Its main drawbacks are the free tier's export and voice-slot limits, the policy allowing audio to improve services, and the API's lack of text-to-speech. Choose it for a broad vocal workflow; look elsewhere if those limits or audio-use terms do not fit your stack.
