Overview

Part of Korn Ferry Talent Suite, Assess helps organizations evaluate current capability and future potential against business strategy. Success Profiles set out the skills, behaviors, and mindsets expected in a role, giving teams a common basis for assessing candidates and employees.

That role-based approach is useful when hiring, internal mobility, and development decisions need to connect. Assessments compare internal and external candidates with role criteria, identify related skill gaps, and help organizations distinguish people ready to lead now from those with future leadership potential. The scope is broader than candidate screening, but the stated focus is organizational talent decisions rather than applicant tracking.

Key features

Workflows and centralized reporting

Teams can launch, track, and manage assessments from selection through development, with reports and insights in a central location. That continuity can help organizations use assessment results beyond the initial hiring decision. The practical value depends on maintaining meaningful role criteria and using the reporting to guide decisions across teams.

Workforce planning and development

Korn Ferry says its assessment data and analytics provide recommendations for workforce planning, hiring, and leadership effectiveness. Assessments can also surface role-related skill gaps and support personal development. This makes the platform relevant to organizations planning talent pipelines as well as filling current roles, though no specific analytic methods or outcomes are stated.

Within Talent Suite, Learning Lab connects individual assessment data to curated learning journeys and AI-coached roleplays with real-time feedback. That link gives organizations a path from identifying a gap to supporting development, particularly when assessment and learning are managed together.

Workday integration and security

The Workday integration is a practical fit for organizations that want talent evaluation and development connected to their existing Workday environment. It uses APIs and JSON-based inbound and outbound communications, with configurable data mapping, security roles, auditing capabilities, and standard reports. Korn Ferry states that it holds British Standards Institute certifications for ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and ISO 27018.

Pricing

Korn Ferry Assess is paid, with custom pricing. The Korn Ferry Assess plan has no public price or stated plan limits, so organizations should confirm scope and terms directly before budgeting. There is no published free plan or trial to assess against those terms.

With no public seat or usage caps to compare, buyers should clarify how pricing changes with the number of users, assessments, or organizational units they need to support. The custom model may suit organizations seeking a broad talent platform, but gives smaller teams no clear entry price for weighing it against narrower tools.

Platforms

The product is categorized for API, macOS, web, and Windows. Participant computers require an active internet connection and supported desktop browsers; Korn Ferry recommends Windows 11 or macOS 14 Sonoma or later. That desktop requirement is important for organizations whose participants rely on mobile access. Global Support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except company holidays, for technical issues.

Who it's for

Korn Ferry describes Assess as supporting talent decisions across an organization, from the CEO to junior recruits. It is most compelling for organizations that need consistent role profiles across selection, mobility, leadership readiness, and development, especially those already using Workday or Talent Suite. Teams looking only for a standalone recruiting assessment, or needing a public price and clearly defined plan limits before evaluation, should look elsewhere.

Alternatives

For a broader view of talent assessment software, compare options if Korn Ferry's organization-wide scope or custom pricing is not the right fit. The talent management software category is also relevant when the priority is managing talent beyond assessment; consider employee coaching software for a coaching-centered need, job description management software for role documentation, salary benchmarking software for pay comparisons, or employee experience management software for a different employee-focused use case.

PayPulse is a paid option with a free plan and API and web platforms. SalaryCube offers a free trial and an annual Startup / Small Business plan at 1995.00 USD per year for qualifying startups and small businesses, with all benchmarking modules included. OpenComp has a free trial and a $0.00 Comp Cycles plan covering compensation data, benchmarking, pay equity, planning, and related compensation work.

Pave Market Data offers a free Market Data Lite plan for U.S. and one additional market for startups with 1–200 employees, while its Pro plan has custom pricing. Aon Radford McLagan Compensation Database sets fees according to benchmarking needs, from one country to multi-market decisions, and includes 24/7 platform access for participants. Compensation IQ has annual plans including Job Architecture & Levelling at 2500.00 GBP per year for 100–200 employees and one super user, and Global Salary Benchmarking at 4200.00 GBP per year. Culpepper Compensation Surveys offers custom-priced Standard data and Premium licenses tailored to jobs and countries. Equilar Insight uses custom pricing.

Verdict

Choose Korn Ferry Assess if your organization needs role-based assessment across hiring, mobility, leadership readiness, and development, particularly when Workday integration and centralized reporting matter. Its breadth and Talent Suite learning connection are the clearest reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need transparent pricing, public plan limits, or participant access beyond desktop browsers.
