Overview

The live ledger follows deposits, in-stay balances and receivables, with drill-down from totals to individual bills. That makes it useful for teams that need to trace a balance back to its underlying charge rather than rely only on summary reporting. Built-in Accounts Receivable covers invoice issuance through reconciliation, while reminder tools support batch follow-ups, company statements, pauses during disputes and shared reminder history.

Key features

Charge-routing rules send nights, taxes and extras to a guest, company or group organizer, with exceptions set at reservation or guest level. This is a practical fit for properties handling corporate accounts and group stays, where responsibility for charges can vary. Trial balances can be downloaded as date-locked PDF or Excel files, with taxes separated from revenue across rooms and outlets.

For groups, centralized finance settings and templates are designed to keep revenue categories and accounting mappings consistent across properties. Mews supports multi-property accounting, consolidated and department reporting, bank reconciliation and audit trails. Ledger and trial-balance data can also be exported as PDF, Excel or CSV, or supplied through open APIs to accounting and BI systems. The product names QuickBooks, Xero and Yardi and points to a marketplace with more than 1,000 integrations, giving teams several routes to connect their stack.

Mews states that it is GDPR, ISO 27001, NF525, PCI DSS and SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, with 12-month average uptime of 99.97%. Access controls include passkeys, two-factor authentication, single sign-on and SCIM provisioning. Its cloud platform runs on Microsoft Azure with automatic continuous backups. These controls will matter to teams assessing operational and access requirements, though the accounting workflows remain aimed specifically at hotel properties.

Pricing

Mews has no free plan, and pricing is on request. Pricing is per room, varies by business and property, and payment processing fees are separate from the subscription. That structure means teams should assess total cost against their room count, property setup and payment volume rather than assume a single standard rate.

Essentials includes Mews PMS, exportable reports for simplified accounting and 24/7 chatbot support. It is the entry point for properties seeking core PMS and accounting exports, but the support channel is narrower than round-the-clock support listed for Mews Pro. Advanced adds Advanced Guest Experience and a customizable booking engine to everything in Essentials, so it is better suited to properties seeking those additional guest and booking capabilities; neither plan has a published price.

Mews Core and Mews Pro use per-room pricing with quotes tailored to the property. Enterprise pricing is tailored to the property network and is intended for multi-brand groups or property networks. Mews Pro lists round-the-clock support and Mews University training paths. All require a quote, and payment processing remains an additional cost.

Platforms

Mews Accounting is available on web and through an API. The API and export options support teams connecting property accounting data to external accounting or BI systems, while a browser-based platform suits staff working across properties. No mobile platform is specified.

Who it's for

Mews is a strong fit for hotel finance teams that need receivables, invoice follow-up and ledger visibility in a property-focused system. Groups and chains gain centralized settings and templates to standardize mappings across locations. It is less compelling for a buyer seeking transparent, fixed pricing before engaging sales, or a business outside hotel operations.

Pros and cons

Pro: Live ledger drill-down and built-in receivables connect balances, invoices and reconciliation without requiring a separate receivables tool.
Pro: Shared multi-property settings, consolidated reporting and exports or APIs support centralized finance alongside external systems.
Con: Pricing varies by property and room count, and payment processing is charged separately, making cost comparison less direct.
Con: Essentials specifies chatbot support, while round-the-clock support and training paths appear with Mews Pro, so support expectations should be part of plan selection.

Alternatives

For other hotel software options, compare Hotel Management software and Hotel Accounting Software. Choose ThinkReservations Booking Engine if a booking engine with account-manager and staff training is the priority; pricing is by sales contact. BookingCenter is worth considering for buyers who value a published $50.00 USD per month self-setup plan with unlimited rooms, 24×7 support and upgrades, as well as a free trial.

WebRezPro Booking Engine may suit properties that prefer a monthly subscription with yearly contract renewal and unlimited users, though pricing depends on property type and size. Choose KWHotel if a free version is the deciding factor; feature availability varies by version. Sirvoy Website Builder offers a free tier capped at one room and five extras, making it a narrower low-cost starting point. RoomKeyPMS Booking Engine is an alternative for new RoomKeyPMS clients, for whom its booking engine is included in onboarding. Amenitiz Website Builder and Jonas Chorum are other options to compare.

Verdict

Choose Mews Accounting if you run a hotel or property network and need ledger visibility, receivables and consistent multi-property finance tied to hotel operations. Its built-in invoice workflow and open integration paths are the clearest reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need an upfront, comparable price: per-room quotes and separate processing fees make budget certainty harder.
