Overview

LICENSEWARE is a modular software asset management platform for teams that need to connect software inventory with licensing, contracts, and infrastructure data. Its strongest fit is a SAM, IT asset, procurement, or compliance team working across a sizeable software estate; the free plan’s 10-row report cap is a real constraint for larger reviews.

Hybrid deployment and a collector spanning Linux, Windows, macOS, and Docker give it a broad operational footprint. The product is less compelling if all you need is a lightweight inventory or a general-purpose service desk.

Key features

Licensing analysis and asset coverage

Its apps cover inventory, contracts and licenses, renewals, infrastructure mapping, maturity assessment, and vendor-specific licensing analysis. License compliance, software recognition, usage optimization, and purchase workflows extend that scope from discovery into operational decisions. This breadth can bring several licensing jobs together, but teams should choose only the apps they need rather than assume every plan includes every function.

Collection, integrations, and AI

The Collector scans Linux, Windows, macOS, and Docker hosts for software, hardware, processes, and container data. The product lists more than 58 data sources, including Lansweeper, Microsoft Graph, SCCM, Oracle LMS scripts, ServiceNow, Proactivanet, and NinjaOne. LICENSEWARE says it builds requested APIs, uploaders, and agents, with most new integrations shipping within two weeks; that is useful for mixed stacks, though it is a maker commitment rather than a guarantee for every request.

NEO answers vendor-specific licensing questions, analyzes contracts, and generates contextual reports. The maker says identifiable customer data is not used to train AI models and that documents are analyzed only on demand when explicitly requested. For organizations handling sensitive agreements, those controls are relevant, though they do not replace a review of internal data-handling requirements.

Security and deployment

LICENSEWARE says it holds SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 certifications and uses TLS 1.2 or higher, service-to-service encryption, encryption at rest, and regular vulnerability testing. Customer data is hosted in a selected Netherlands, Iowa, or Sydney region and, according to the maker, does not move between regions. Hybrid deployment offers flexibility for teams with mixed infrastructure, while regional hosting gives distributed organizations a defined location choice.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, has no time limit, and permits unlimited uploads, but reports are limited to 10 rows per table. That makes it useful for exploring the product or small-scale analysis, not for recurring reporting across a large estate. Self-support is the support level on Free.

PAYG is 1.00 USD per month, billed One-off, with consumption-based pricing, any apps or all apps on demand, and volume discounts applicable. The separate Pay as you go offer is 1.00 USD per once, billed $1 / device for one-off analysis, with apps on demand and volume discounts available. Both are suited to teams wanting occasional or selective analysis rather than a fixed broad deployment; confirm which consumption basis fits the intended use before committing. Standard support applies to Pay as you go.

Chill costs 150.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 1,000 devices. It is the clearest fixed-price option for teams at that scale, with standard support. Core costs 3.36 USD per year, billed annually, for more than 1,000 devices; premium support with onboarding may suit larger deployments, but the stated annual price makes the cost basis worth clarifying before purchase. Advanced has custom pricing for more than 1,000 devices and includes extended expert support. A free trial is offered.

Platforms

LICENSEWARE supports API, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows, with hybrid deployment. The collector’s host coverage also includes Docker, making it relevant where container data needs to join software and hardware inventory.

Who it's for

The maker targets SAM managers, IT asset managers, procurement leads, compliance teams, consulting partners, and resellers. It is a stronger fit for organizations that need licensing analysis alongside inventory and contract work than for teams looking only to track devices. Support scales from self-service on Free to standard on PAYG and Chill, premium support with onboarding on Core, and extended expert support on Advanced.

Pros and cons

Pros: Inventory, licensing, contract, renewal, and infrastructure functions sit within one modular platform, which suits teams coordinating those workflows.
Pros: More than 58 data sources, plus requested connector development, help accommodate varied infrastructure and asset-management stacks.
Pros: The no-time-limit free plan allows unlimited uploads, giving teams room to explore before paying.
Cons: Free reports stop at 10 rows per table, limiting their use for large-estate analysis.
Cons: The plan prices and billing terms use differing units, including one-off consumption and a per-device analysis offer; buyers should reconcile expected spend to their workload.
Cons: PAYG and Free support are limited to standard and self-support respectively, while premium onboarding and extended expert help sit on higher tiers.

Alternatives

For broader Software Asset Management Software, compare LICENSEWARE with other tools in that category. Teams focused on vendor relationships can also browse IT Vendor Management Software, while a device-centered shortlist belongs in IT Asset Management Software.

Choose Ramp AP instead if the priority is simplifying finances and accounts payable for a smaller team, with a free plan. Vendr is a better starting point for software price insights through its free Chrome extension, which covers 20,000+ software products; its procurement platform is another option. Consider DemandFlow ITSM as a paid API- and web-based alternative.

Aravo Third-Party Risk Management is a paid alternative for third-party risk management aimed at global enterprises. Freshservice offers paid service-desk plans, including a Starter tier at 19.00 USD per month billed annually, alongside a free trial. OneTrust Third-Party Management is another paid option, with pricing based on admin users and third-party inventory.

SmartSuite Enterprise Service Desk is worth considering for a service-desk workflow, with a paid Team plan and free trial. SolarWinds Service Desk is also a paid service-desk alternative with a free trial and per-technician Essentials pricing.

Verdict

Choose LICENSEWARE when licensing analysis, inventory, contract work, and infrastructure data need to meet in one modular platform, especially across a mixed host estate. The enduring free plan is a low-friction way to assess it, but the report cap rules it out for substantial ongoing analysis; teams needing an uncapped view or a simpler single-purpose tool should look elsewhere.
