Overview

Logi Options+ is Logitech’s free utility for configuring supported peripherals and tailoring controls to individual apps. It is best suited to people already using Logitech hardware across a Windows or Mac setup. Its strength is the combination of device controls, automation, and cross-computer workflows; its main caveat is that some tools are restricted to particular devices.

Key features

Device and app controls

Options+ covers mice, keyboards, lights, webcams, touchpads, presentation remotes, and MX Creative Console. Pointer and scrolling speed, scroll direction, sensitivity, polling rate, gestures, macros, and per-app profiles give users room to adapt both everyday input and repeatable workflows. Gesture assignments can handle navigation or media control, while app presets and custom actions support Chrome, Edge, Safari, Zoom, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Teams. That app-level tailoring is useful for people who move between different kinds of work, but it remains tied to supported Logitech devices.

Automation and multi-computer work

Smart Actions combine multiple tasks behind one click or keystroke, and the Actions Ring puts customizable tools in an overlay at the cursor. The Marketplace adds plugins, profiles, and icon packs. Actions Ring and Marketplace are available with MX devices except MX Webcam and MX Ink, so they should not be treated as universal features of the utility.

Flow controls multiple computers and operating systems and transfers text, images, and files between them. Supported keyboards can use Easy-Switch to move among up to three devices with one key press. These features are most compelling for users actively working across computers; they offer less value in a single-device setup. Haptic feedback for specific actions is currently available with MX Master 4 only.

Presentation and administration

Spotlight Effects for mice provide Highlight, Magnify, and Digital Laser pointing effects, a focused addition for people presenting from their computer. For organizations, administrators can silently deploy the app remotely and configure analytics, Flow, SSO, and automatic updates. Deployment options include SCCM, Intune, and Jamf, and features can be disabled with specified command-line parameters.

Pricing

Logi Options+ is free. The Logi Options+ plan costs 0.00 USD per free and covers supported Logitech devices. There is no paid tier to weigh against the included controls, but the value depends on owning compatible hardware rather than on a software subscription. No seat or usage quota applies in the plan terms.

Platforms

The utility supports Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later. That makes it a fit for current Windows and Mac environments, not a cross-platform choice for Linux users. Supported device categories include mice, keyboards, lights, webcams, touchpads, presentation remotes, and MX Creative Console.

Logitech says the app is engineered with enterprise-grade security. Its security protocols use NIST 800-53 and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 as guiding roadmaps; data in transit uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or above, while local data and server data in AWS S3 are encrypted. With consent, the app may collect usage and diagnostic data, but it does not collect data users enter with mice, keyboards, or touchpads. Those controls make it more plausible for managed environments, though teams should still assess consent and deployment settings against their own policies.

Who it's for

Choose Options+ if your team relies on supported Logitech peripherals and wants device-level tuning, per-app actions, or a way to coordinate work across multiple computers. It is especially relevant for users who can benefit from Flow, Easy-Switch, or presentation effects. Look elsewhere if your hardware is outside Logitech’s supported lineup, your operating system does not meet the stated minimum, or you need device-independent controls.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad controls across supported device types, including macros, per-app profiles, gestures, sensitivity, and polling-rate adjustment.
Pros: Flow, Easy-Switch, and Smart Actions address multi-computer and repetitive-work needs without a software fee.
Pros: Remote deployment through SCCM, Intune, and Jamf gives administrators options for managed rollouts.
Cons: Support is limited to Logitech devices, and minimum OS requirements rule out older systems.
Cons: Actions Ring and Marketplace exclude MX Webcam and MX Ink, while haptic feedback is limited to MX Master 4.
Cons: The free utility has little relevance to teams that need a general-purpose peripheral manager across brands.

Alternatives

Compare keyboard and mouse customization software if you want to survey the category before settling on a vendor-specific utility.

Logitech G HUB is another free Logitech option; choose it when its gaming-device configuration, presets, and game profiles better match your needs.
Glorious CORE is free software for configuring Glorious products, with cloud profile saving requiring a Glorious ID; choose it for that hardware ecosystem.
Rebind offers a free software mode with a Luau scripting runtime and supports Linux, macOS, and Windows; consider it when those platform or scripting needs matter more than Logitech-specific controls.
Razer Synapse is a free alternative available on Windows, macOS, and the web.
MonsGeek Driver is free keyboard configuration software with supported models varying by driver; consider it for a compatible MonsGeek keyboard.
ROCCAT Swarm II is free device-configuration software for compatible Turtle Beach devices, with Windows, Android, and iOS support.
ASUS Armoury Crate is a free Windows option.
Rapoo A HUB is a free option for macOS, web, and Windows.

Verdict

Logi Options+ is the right pick for Logitech users who want detailed peripheral controls, app-aware actions, and practical ways to work across computers in one free utility. Its clearest reason to choose another tool is hardware or OS mismatch: key capabilities depend on supported Logitech devices, and the current system requirements are specific.
