Overview

Lulu Calendar Creator is a web tool for designing custom calendars for print, either from scratch or from a print-ready PDF. It suits creators who want to make calendars for themselves or sell them through Lulu or a connected store. Its strongest case is the choice of creation and selling routes; its fixed US Letter landscape format makes it a poor fit for other sizes.

Key features

Build a calendar with images for the cover and each month, and choose from four themes. Dates can include national events, custom events, or events imported from an ICS file; Lulu recommends iCalendar, Google Calendar, or Microsoft Outlook for that source. Calendar periods can be 12 or 18 months, or set to a custom start and end month and year. That flexibility is useful for commemorative or nonstandard schedules, while the print format itself stays fixed at 11 × 8.5 inches, landscape, with wire-O binding along the 11-inch edge.

Users can instead upload their own print-ready PDF. Lulu also provides 12- and 18-month template bundles for Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, plus a creation guide and PDF export settings. For photo quality, it recommends sRGB images at 300 dpi, a practical requirement to address before laying out the calendar.

Calendars can be printed for personal use, sold through the Lulu Bookstore, or connected to an ecommerce store through Lulu Direct. Lulu identifies Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce, and its Printing API as routes for selling through a creator’s own site. Production generally takes 3–5 business days across its printer network, with an order-specific estimate shown in the cart. Bulk ordering is supported.

Pricing

The Free to use plan is free. It includes online calendar projects; users pay when they order printed copies. That makes it suitable for designing before committing to print, but it is not a free supply of finished calendars. The plan information gives no seat or project quota, so no such cap should be assumed.

Calendar printing is a separate purchase, and there is no fixed print price to compare here. The cart provides the production estimate for a particular order. Lulu’s free creation model works well for occasional projects and sellers who want to pay as orders come in; teams seeking a predictable subscription or a known unit cost before choosing a format may prefer another service.

Platforms

Lulu Calendar Creator runs on the web. It is a focused option for browser-based design and print ordering rather than a cross-platform calendar app.

Who it's for

Choose Lulu if you need a wall calendar, want to personalize dates, or plan to sell a print product through Lulu or an existing ecommerce store. The PDF upload and design templates also suit users who prefer preparing artwork in InDesign or Photoshop. Look elsewhere if you need a different physical format, or if your workflow depends on a native desktop or mobile creator.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free online creation lets users develop a project before paying for printed copies.
Pros: Custom dates, ICS imports, and flexible calendar periods support more than a standard annual calendar.
Pros: Lulu Bookstore, Lulu Direct, named store integrations, and a Printing API give creators several selling routes.
Cons: The 11 × 8.5-inch landscape size and wire-O binding are fixed, limiting format choice.
Cons: Printing costs are separate from creation, so the free plan does not remove the cost of producing a calendar.
Cons: The recommended sRGB, 300 dpi images require suitable source files for print-ready results.

Verdict

Lulu Calendar Creator is a good fit for creators who want free online calendar design, date customization, and a path from personal printing to ecommerce sales. Its strongest advantage is that the same calendar project can serve personal use or a selling workflow. Choose another service if print dimensions and binding need to be flexible, or if you need a known print price before building the project.
