Overview

Parsec is a remote-access and computer-sharing app for people who want to reach a machine for work, gaming, or social use. It suits individual players and teams that need remote control, but its commercial-use licensing and per-user plans make the distinction between personal and business use important. Its standout fit is responsive gaming alongside sharing; teams get a stronger set of access and audit controls at a materially higher price.

Key features

Remote gaming and sharing: Parsec is designed for low-latency gaming at 60FPS UHD, and a shared link can let another person observe or control a computer. That combination suits game streaming and collaborative access, though gaming performance alone does not replace the management controls businesses may need.
Input and integrations: Keyboard mapping, gamepad support, and advanced settings accommodate different control setups. Parsec also states that it integrates with Discord.
Security: Native-app peer-to-peer traffic is encrypted end-to-end with a shared 128-bit AES key; web-client sessions use DTLS. Accounts support multi-factor authentication, and Teams can enforce SAML 2.0 single sign-on. Parsec states that it is SOC 2 Type 2 certified.
Team administration: Enterprise adds SCIM provisioning, full connection audit logs, API access, and a high-performance relay server. These are relevant for managed deployments, rather than a reason for personal users to move up-plan.

Pricing

Parsec has a free plan, paid plans, and a 14-day trial. Personal Use is for personal, non-commercial desktop streaming and sharing; its price is custom pricing. It is not licensed for commercial work.

Individuals (Warp): 8.33 USD per month, billed per user/month and paid annually. It adds multi-monitor displays, 4:4:4 color, virtual monitors, privacy mode, and Wacom pressure and tilt. This is the entry paid choice for individual non-commercial users who need those display and input capabilities.
Teams: 30.00 USD per month, billed per user/month and paid annually. It includes SAML SSO, granular permissions, team computer management, and 7-day audit logs. Commercial use requires Teams or Enterprise, so this is the business entry point for teams that need managed access.
Enterprise: 45.00 USD per month, billed per user/month and paid annually only. It adds a high-performance relay, usage logs and analytics, Teams API, role-based access, and full audit logs. Choose it when those controls are required; smaller teams may find Teams sufficient.

There are no volume discounts, so per-user costs do not fall with larger license counts. Guest Access invitations cost $25 per invitation and provide temporary access for up to five days. Teams and Enterprise include a 24-hour first-response SLA for product support tickets.

Platforms

Parsec supports Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Desktop, Android, and the Google Chrome web client. Mobile apps are available. The range spans desktop systems, Android, and browser access, but iOS is not among the supported platforms.

Who it's for

Parsec is a strong fit for players who want low-latency remote gaming and for individuals who need computer sharing with flexible controls. Teams can use it commercially through Teams or Enterprise, with SSO and permission management on Teams and deeper provisioning, logging, and API controls on Enterprise. It is not the right paid-plan choice for commercial users seeking to remain on Personal Use or Individuals, since both are licensed for non-commercial use.

Pros and cons

Pro: Gaming controls, 60FPS UHD design, and link-based sharing bring remote play and collaborative access together.
Pro: Enterprise offers provisioning, API access, relay, and full audit logs for organizations that need administrative depth.
Con: Commercial use requires Teams or Enterprise, whose annual per-user prices are substantially above Individuals.
Con: Parsec offers no volume discounts, and temporary Guest Access costs $25 per invitation.
Con: The supported platform set includes Android but not iOS.

Alternatives

For a free option, Moonlight Game Streaming has no subscriptions or paid versions, making it a simpler choice when free streaming matters more than Parsec's paid team controls. Chiaki-ng is a free and open-source PlayStation Remote Play client, so choose it when that specific use is the priority. Greenlight is an MIT-licensed, open-source option with no paid plans, fitting readers who want that licensing model.

Steam is a free platform whose game and content prices vary, with some subscriptions potentially free; it suits readers focused on accessing games and content through Steam. Sunshine is free and self-hosted on your own hardware, making it the alternative when self-hosting is central. LunarNX, Moonlight Web, and PeaSyo are also free alternatives.

Verdict

Choose Parsec if you want remote gaming and computer sharing in one product, or need team access controls that scale from SSO to enterprise provisioning and audit logs. Its main trade-off is cost and licensing: commercial users must pay per user annually, with no volume discount, while individuals seeking a free or self-hosted option should look elsewhere.
