Overview

Mixmax brings sales engagement tools into Gmail and Outlook, combining outreach, meeting scheduling, and CRM activity. It suits revenue teams that want coordinated follow-up workflows in a supported inbox; it is a poor fit for teams that rely on other mail providers or need to exceed its sequence and sending limits.

Teams work through a Chrome extension for Gmail, an Outlook add-in, and a web dashboard for sequences, reports, and workspace settings. The Chrome requirement and lack of support for Apple Mail, Yahoo, and other providers make inbox compatibility an early decision point.

Key features

Sequences can combine follow-up emails, tasks, and scheduled calls. Merge variables and CSV uploads support personalized outreach at scale, while multichannel outreach and reply detection help teams coordinate beyond a single email. The trade-off is capacity: sequence-recipient allowances vary sharply by plan, and sending may be limited to 1,000 emails per user per day to avoid Google or Microsoft rate limits.

Real-time open and click tracking, plus desktop notifications, gives sellers engagement signals. Paid plans include unlimited tracking, while the free plan allows 20 tracked emails a month. Scheduling links let recipients choose a time and place the meeting on both calendars. Automatic CRM sync covers emails, meetings, and sequence activity in Salesforce or HubSpot; rules can create Salesforce tasks after opens or add recipients to sequences when deal stages change.

More than 40 native integrations are included on every plan, which gives teams room to connect their existing stack without moving to a higher tier just for integrations. Mixmax states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified, HIPAA compliant, GDPR and CPRA compliant, and audited by Google. It encrypts data at rest with AES-256-GCM and in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher. Support includes a Help Center, support messenger, email support, and the 24/7 in-app AI assistant Maxine.

Pricing

The freemium model gives teams a way to start without a subscription, but the free tier is best for light evaluation rather than sustained outreach: it caps tracking at 20 emails a month and sequence recipients at 50 a month.

Free: 0.00 USD per free, with 20 tracked emails/month and up to 50 sequence recipients/month. It suits an individual checking the workflow, but the tracking cap is restrictive for regular sales use.
Inbox Copilot: 29.00 USD per month billed annually, or $34/mo monthly. It includes unlimited email tracking and up to 100 sequence recipients/month, fitting users who mainly need tracking and modest sequencing.
Engagement Copilot: 49.00 USD per month billed annually, or $65/mo monthly. It raises the sequence allowance to 1,500 recipients/month while retaining unlimited tracking, making it the more practical choice for active outreach.
Mixmax Suite: 89.00 USD per month billed annually, or $105/mo monthly. It includes unlimited tracking, up to 1,500 sequence recipients/month, and 200 post-meeting summaries/month. The higher price adds summaries rather than a larger sequence quota.
Meeting Copilot: custom pricing; included in Suite. It allows up to 100 sequence recipients/month and 200 post-meeting summaries/month, so the Suite comparison matters for teams weighing its standalone fit.
Mixmax for Teams: custom pricing, with unlimited sequences and up to 3,000 sequence recipients/month. This is the tier for teams that need more sequence capacity than the standard plans provide.

A 14-day trial is available. The monthly-versus-annual price gap is substantial on Inbox Copilot, Engagement Copilot, and Suite, so the annual rate is most relevant to teams ready to commit; confirm the sending and recipient caps against expected volume before choosing.

Platforms

Mixmax supports API, extension, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows platforms, but email-provider support is narrower than that list may suggest: the product works with Gmail and Outlook only. Gmail users need Google Chrome to run the extension.

Who it's for

Mixmax is a strong fit for sales teams already using Gmail or Outlook that want sequences, engagement signals, scheduling, and CRM activity in one workflow. Salesforce and HubSpot users benefit from automatic activity sync, and the included integrations on every plan reduce the need to upgrade solely for stack connectivity. It is less suitable for teams on unsupported email providers, or for high-volume senders who cannot work within the daily sending cap.

Pros and cons

Pros: Sequences combine emails, tasks, and calls, giving teams a structured way to manage follow-up rather than relying on tracking alone.
Pros: Automatic Salesforce and HubSpot sync connects outreach and meeting activity to customer records.
Pros: More than 40 native integrations are included on every plan, preserving stack flexibility without an integration-tier upgrade.
Cons: Support is limited to Gmail and Outlook, and Gmail's extension requires Chrome; teams using other providers cannot adopt it as their inbox workflow.
Cons: Free tracking is capped at 20 emails monthly, and the entry paid plan allows only 100 sequence recipients monthly.
Cons: A possible 1,000-email daily limit can constrain users with larger sending needs, even when sequence allowances are higher.

Alternatives

Mailbutler Smart Assistant is another freemium option with a free plan and support across mobile, desktop, web, and extension platforms; consider it if platform breadth matters more than Mixmax's stated inbox and CRM workflow.
Right Inbox has a free solo-use tier capped at five emails per month, without mail merge, sequences, or CRM integration; it is a narrower alternative for limited individual use.
Boomerang offers a free tier with 10 message credits a month, Send Later, and reminders for Gmail/G Suite; choose it when those basic scheduling and reminder functions are enough.
Mailsuite offers a $6.99 USD user/month plan with unlimited tracked emails, seven days of tracking history, and campaign and link-tracking allowances; it is worth considering when tracking is the priority over Mixmax's broader sales workflow.
Streak has a free plan with 50 mail merge sends per day and a Pro plan at 59.00 USD per month billed monthly; consider it when those terms better match your mail-merge needs.
LeadBoxer is another freemium option.
TrackMailBox is a free option.
Trustifi Email Tracking is a freemium option.

Verdict

Choose Mixmax if your team works in Gmail or Outlook and wants to link structured outreach with scheduling and CRM activity, especially across Salesforce or HubSpot. Its integration breadth and combined workflow are compelling; look elsewhere if your provider is unsupported, if the sequence caps do not match your volume, or if a potential 1,000-email daily ceiling is too restrictive.
