Overview

Mapline turns Excel or CSV location data into maps, with datasets ranging from 10 to 100,000 locations. Teams can paste spreadsheet data or upload files, a useful fit when location records already live in familiar tabular workflows. The free plan is far smaller than the product’s maximum dataset range, so larger workloads will need a paid plan.

The product suite spans Geo Mapping, Geo BI, Geo Routing and Geo Scheduling. Browser delivery avoids complex installation, while a REST API provides a route for programmatic integration. This breadth can consolidate mapping and operational planning; teams that need only a simple map may not benefit from the wider suite.

Key features

Spreadsheet mapping and analysis

Pin colors, shapes, sizes, icons, labels and custom images can be set from spreadsheet columns. That makes it practical to distinguish categories directly on a map rather than treating every location as an identical point. Filters, segments, heat mapping, trend analysis, distance analysis and coverage-network visualization support deeper analysis of the mapped data.

Territories and routing

Users can draw or import territories, including ZIP-code and county boundaries, and balance territory statistics. This is useful for teams dividing geographic coverage or reviewing territory performance, though buyers should weigh the feature set against custom-priced paid plans.

Routing tools optimize routes and stop assignments, generate driving directions and calculate bulk driving distances across thousands of locations. These capabilities make Mapline relevant to teams planning field work or deliveries, not just visualizing locations. A 7-day trial is offered for Geo BI, Geo Routing and Geo Scheduling, giving buyers a short window to assess those paid products.

Integrations, API and security

Connectors cover FTP Server, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, HubSpot, iCalendar, Microsoft Ads, OneDrive, Microsoft SQL Server, Outlook Calendar and Salesforce. The REST API uses API-key authentication, authorization, documented limits and JSON responses; teams should account for those limits when designing integrations.

Mapline says stored data has multiple layers of encryption at rest and that communications with its servers are encrypted in transit. It also states that its application is certified at Level 2 under the App Defence Alliance’s Cloud Application Security Assessment framework.

Pricing

Mapline uses a freemium model. Mapping Starter costs 0.00 USD per free and includes pin plotting, filters, territories, segmenting, heat mapping and pin customization, with no credit card required. Its limits are 500 locations total, 250 per dataset, five routes of 10 locations each, one map and two datasets. That is enough for a small initial workflow, but the dataset and map caps make it restrictive for broader evaluation or ongoing team use.

Mapline Starter, Mapline, Pro and Enterprise have custom pricing. The suite’s range of mapping, analysis and planning tools may suit teams that need those capabilities together, but custom pricing makes budget comparison harder before contacting the vendor. Eligible paid customers receive chat, phone and email support Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM Mountain Time, with an intended initial response within 24–48 business hours.

Platforms

Mapline is available on the web and through an API. It accepts Excel and CSV data uploads, making it a fit for browser-based spreadsheet workflows and teams integrating through its REST API.

Who it's for

Mapline is a strong candidate for teams that manage location data in spreadsheets and need to connect map-based analysis with territory balancing, distance work or route planning. Its connectors and API also support organizations incorporating geographic workflows into a broader stack. It is less suited to buyers who need generous free usage or transparent paid pricing before engaging with a vendor.

Pros and cons

Pros: Spreadsheet-driven pin customization and analysis tools let teams move from plotting locations to examining patterns and coverage.
Pros: Territory balancing and routing tools extend the product into operational planning for teams managing geographic coverage or stops.
Pros: A REST API and broad connector set provide options for connecting Mapline with existing services and data systems.
Cons: Mapping Starter is limited to 500 locations, 250 per dataset, one map and two datasets, which constrains larger evaluations.
Cons: Paid plans use custom pricing, so buyers cannot compare their costs from a published plan price.
Cons: The Geo BI, Geo Routing and Geo Scheduling trial lasts 7 days, leaving a short evaluation period for those products.

Alternatives

Maptive is another option for buyers who want a free plan and trial across Android, iOS, web, Windows and API platforms; its 45 Day Pass is 25045.00 USD per once for one user, with unlimited maps and up to 100,000 locations per dataset.

CARTO may suit teams considering a cloud or self-hosted platform with an enterprise plan billed upfront annually, but it has no free plan and offers limited location data services and API access.

eSpatial is an alternative for teams prepared to pay per user: Mapping Pro costs 499.00 USD per year, requires a three-user minimum, and includes three users and 100,000 monthly geocodes.

Locus is worth considering for browser-based map access with a free option, or for buyers who need a one-time location report rather than a broader mapping and routing suite.

Smappen offers a free browser-based option with 10 active areas, basic population data, one POI search and up to 100 imported pins; it may fit simpler area-planning needs.

Gini is another freemium web option, with a Tiny plan at 249.00 EUR per month for five conversations per month, one user, one country and 10 GB storage.

Stadia Maps is a web, Android and iOS option with a free tier of 200,000 credits per month and a Starter plan at 20.00 USD per month for 1,000,000 credits per month.

Crowd Connected is another freemium option for web, iOS and Android.

Verdict

Choose Mapline if your team needs spreadsheet-based location analysis together with territory or routing tools, and its connectors or API fit your existing stack. The free plan offers a way to begin, but its tight caps and custom-priced paid plans make it a poor fit for buyers who need room to scale or clear costs upfront.
