Overview

MASV combines sending, receiving and delivery automation. Branded browser portals can collect contributor uploads and route files to one or more destinations, which is useful when a team needs a repeatable intake process instead of one-off file requests. Checkpoint restart resumes interrupted transfers automatically, a practical safeguard when deliveries are large or network connections are unreliable.

Integrations include Amazon S3, Backblaze, Box, Dropbox, Frame.io, Google and IBM Cloud Object Storage. MASV states that transfers use TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest. It also states that it is SOC 2 Type II compliant, ISO 27001:2022 certified and TPN verified, and supports HIPAA-compliant transfers. SAML-based SSO, MFA, role-based permissions, password protection, download limits and expiry dates provide controls for managing access and delivery.

Key features

Contributor portals: Branded browser intake and routing to multiple destinations suit production workflows involving external contributors. Teams that only need occasional person-to-person sharing may not benefit from this workflow structure.
Transfer tools: The desktop app supports Multiconnect channel bonding, Growing Files real-time uploads and optimization for 10 Gbps+ connections. These options matter most to teams moving large media or data sets over capable connections.
Access and security: Encryption, identity controls and download restrictions support managed delivery. Organizations should still assess whether the stated compliance support and controls meet their own requirements.
Usage costs: The first 15 GB transfers each month are free on On-Demand, but additional transfer volume and storage after five days are billed separately. Large recurring workflows should budget for both.

Pricing

MASV uses a freemium model. On-Demand costs 0.25 USD per month and is pay as you go at $0.25/GB after the first 15 GB free each month, with no contract. It has no limit on how much you can send, but the per-GB rate can make heavy monthly use less predictable. A credit card is required. Files are stored free for five days, then storage costs $0.07 USD per GB per month.

Annual subscriptions are billed monthly with a 12-month commitment. The 250 GB plan is 58.00 USD per month and includes 250 GB/month at $0.23/GB, with overages at a discounted rate. The 500 GB plan is 110.00 USD per month and includes 500 GB/month at $0.22/GB. The 1 TB plan is 215.00 USD per month and includes 1 TB/month at $0.21/GB. The 2 TB plan is 410.00 USD per month and includes 2 TB/month at $0.20/GB. Each offers discounted overages; the lower per-GB rate comes with a year-long commitment, so it suits predictable demand better than fluctuating usage.

Pre-Buy Credits require one upfront payment: 5 TB costs 1229.00 USD per month, 10 TB costs 2355.00 USD per month and 25 TB costs 5632.00 USD per month. These tiers suit buyers able to commit to a known volume in advance. The Platform plan has custom pricing for 10 TB+ per month; enterprise accounts can receive dedicated onboarding and support. MASV also offers a free trial.

Platforms

MASV supports API, Linux, macOS, web and Windows. The desktop app provides specialized transfer options, while browser portals give contributors a way to upload without making the desktop workflow the center of intake.

Who it's for

MASV is aimed at solo filmmakers and creators, post-production studios, broadcast networks and data-heavy industries such as geospatial. It is best suited to teams that regularly move substantial files, coordinate outside uploads or need delivery controls and destination integrations. It is a weaker fit for occasional small transfers, where its storage and per-GB billing add cost without much benefit from its workflow features.

Pros and cons

Pros: Branded portals route contributor uploads to one or more destinations; checkpoint restart helps interrupted transfers continue; desktop tools address high-throughput and growing-file workflows; integrations span common cloud storage and media services.
Cons: On-Demand transfer charges apply after 15 GB each month, and storage becomes billable after five days; annual subscriptions lock buyers into a 12-month commitment; the low-volume workflow may not justify the additional intake and transfer controls.

Alternatives

Choose Nextcloud Files if a self-hosted option and broader mobile and desktop platform coverage are more important; its Standard plan starts at 71.29 EUR per year for 100 users. Filemail is another freemium transfer service to compare. Hightail may suit a smaller file-sharing workflow: its Lite tier has a 100MB file-size limit, 2GB storage and seven-day send expiration, while Pro is 12.00 USD per month billed annually with a 25GB file-size limit and unlimited storage. Smash offers a free tier with 2 GB per transfer, seven days of availability and one user, making it a simpler option for modest transfers.

TransferNow has a free tier with 5 GB per transfer and seven days of availability. WeTransfer is worth comparing for lighter sharing needs: its free tier allows 10 transfers, 3 GB total and three-day link expiry. Microsoft PowerPoint is a different category of tool and may fit presentation work rather than large-file delivery. FileCloud is an alternative to consider for file management, with Essentials at 7.00 USD per month billed annually and a 20-user minimum.

For a broader comparison, browse File Sharing Software, Secure File Transfer Software or File transfer services.

Verdict

Choose MASV if your team regularly moves large files and needs branded intake, automated routing and resumable transfers across contributor workflows. Its strongest case is the combination of portal-based collection and desktop transfer tools; the main reason to look elsewhere is the ongoing cost of transfer volume and storage, especially for occasional or hard-to-forecast use.
