Overview

Mega Voxels combines a 3D voxel editor with a 2D pixel art editor. Pencil, Bucket Fill and Magic Wand tools support direct drawing and filling, while a library of more than 450 voxel models gives creators material to work from. Models can reach 256×256×256, a useful ceiling for detailed mobile work but a real constraint for projects that need larger assets.

VOX support and OBJ export connect the app to MagicaVoxel files and workflows involving tools such as Unity and Blender. The app also includes scene editing, texture painting and game engine export. Users can create and save video animations and view designs in augmented reality, extending its use beyond still models.

Key features

Paired editors: The 3D voxel and 2D pixel art editors make sense for creators who switch between models and pixel graphics. Those who only need one discipline may prefer a narrower tool.
Model library and size: More than 450 voxel models provide a substantial set of starting points. The 256×256×256 maximum supports small-to-medium assets, not unrestricted scene scale.
Formats and output: MagicaVoxel VOX support and OBJ export help move work into other creative and game-engine workflows. Video animation and AR viewing add ways to present designs, though the product is limited to mobile platforms.
Premium content terms: Free content licenses cost nothing. A premium content license covers one design only; the premium item cannot be copied, downloaded or distributed as a standalone item. That boundary matters for teams reusing assets across multiple projects.

Pricing

Mega Voxels is freemium, with a free app download and free content licenses at no cost. Premium plans include premium content licenses while the subscription is valid, with each license covering one design.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	Free app download; free content licenses issued at no cost.
Weekly Premium	1.99 USD per month	Premium content licenses with a valid subscription; one design per license.
Monthly Premium	4.99 USD per month	Premium content licenses with a valid subscription; one design per license.
Yearly Premium	49.99 USD per year	Premium content licenses with a valid subscription; one design per license.

The free tier suits creators who can work with free content. Premium is relevant when a project needs premium content, but the one-design scope makes it less suitable for teams expecting broad asset reuse. The weekly plan's listed billing term is monthly, so compare its stated price and term carefully with the monthly and yearly options.

Platforms

Mega Voxels runs on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. That portability suits mobile-first creators, but teams that need a desktop editor should consider a cross-platform alternative instead.

Who it's for

Choose Mega Voxels if you want voxel modeling and pixel art together on a mobile device, with animation, AR viewing and export paths into tools such as Unity or Blender. It is less compelling for workflows requiring models beyond 256×256×256, desktop operation or premium content licenses that cover more than one design.

Pros and cons

Pro — Two editors in one app: A single mobile app covers 3D voxel work and 2D pixel art.
Pro — Useful output options: VOX support, OBJ export, game engine export and saved video animations give creators several ways to move or present work.
Pro — Free starting point: The app download and free content licenses cost nothing.
Con — Mobile-only: iOS and Android support excludes desktop workflows.
Con — Fixed model ceiling: Models top out at 256×256×256.
Con — Premium license is narrow: Each license covers one design, and premium content cannot be redistributed as a standalone item.

Alternatives

For more choices, browse Voxel Editors. Pick Blockhammer if you want a free early-access voxel editor for macOS, Windows or Linux rather than a mobile app. Goxel is a free desktop option with a scene size described as unlimited, and also supports mobile platforms. Choose pixemboss for a free in-browser editor that needs no installation or account to start.

Vengi VoxEdit is a free, open-source option under development for Linux, macOS, Windows and the web. VoxShop is another free choice, offered for self-hosted and web use. Consider Crocotile 3D if you want a paid desktop tool with a free trial. Voxel Builder is free and spans Android, iOS, Linux, web and Windows. SpriteStack is a paid alternative for Linux, macOS, web and Windows, with a one-time purchase.

Verdict

Mega Voxels is a good fit for mobile-first artists and beginners who want both voxel and pixel editors plus animation and practical export options in one app. Its free entry point keeps experimentation accessible. Look elsewhere if desktop support, larger models or premium asset licenses for reuse across designs are central to your workflow.
