Overview

Skoove is a piano-learning app from Learnfield GmbH, founded in 2014 and headquartered in Berlin. It is aimed at adults and teenagers aged 12 and over who want a structured course to support practice on a piano or keyboard. The combination of real-time playing feedback and instructor support makes it a practical fit for app-based learners, provided they are comfortable taking lessons on a phone or tablet.

Key features

Skoove listens while a learner plays and returns real-time feedback, with progress tracking to help them follow their development. This makes the course responsive to playing rather than limited to reading or watching lessons. It depends, however, on a compatible instrument connection: the app supports MIDI, USB, or Bluetooth, and Skoove says most Roland keyboards and pianos work when they have USB or MIDI connectivity.

The curriculum covers music theory, note reading, technique, and songs. Skoove advertises more than 1,000 songs and lessons, while Premium specifies access to all courses and over 400 lessons. Premium also includes one-on-one support from Skoove piano instructors, a useful complement to automated feedback for learners who want a person to turn to with questions.

Lessons and courses are available in the iOS and Android apps, not through the desktop website or Windows PC/Mac applications. There is no offline access. That makes Skoove a poor fit for learners who need to practice from a computer or without an internet connection. Learnfield may use de-identified performance data and audio recordings to develop, train, and improve Skoove AI features. Its licensed musical works may not be used for text or data mining or AI training without a separate license, and uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.

Pricing

Skoove uses a freemium model, with selected course lessons available on the free Skoove Basic plan. That is enough to explore the course format, but learners seeking the full curriculum or instructor support need Premium. A 7-day trial is available.

Plan	Price and billing	What it includes
Skoove Basic	0.00 USD per free	Selected lessons from courses
Skoove Premium — 12 months	12.49 USD per month; $149.99 charged every 12 months as a single upfront payment	Unlimited access to all courses, over 400 lessons, and 1-on-1 instructor support
Skoove Premium — 3 months	19.99 USD per month; $59.99 charged every 3 months	Unlimited access to all courses, over 400 lessons, and 1-on-1 instructor support
Skoove Premium — 1 month	29.99 USD per month; $29.99 charged monthly	Unlimited access to all courses, over 400 lessons, and 1-on-1 instructor support
Lifetime Plan	Custom pricing; one-time payment	Permanent access without recurring charges

The annual Premium plan has the lowest monthly equivalent, but requires the largest upfront payment and a year-long commitment. The three-month plan costs more per month while reducing that commitment; monthly Premium is the most flexible and most expensive per month. The free tier gives up full-course access and instructor support. Lifetime access avoids recurring charges, but requires contacting support for pricing.

Platforms

Skoove is available on Android, iOS, and the web, but lessons and courses are limited to its iOS and Android apps. The web presence does not provide desktop lessons, and there is no offline access. It supports one instrument and is therefore geared toward piano or keyboard learning rather than a multi-instrument curriculum.

Who it's for

Skoove suits adult and teenage piano learners who want structured instruction, feedback as they play, and the option of instructor help on a Premium plan. It is less suitable for learners who need desktop lessons, offline practice, or a course experience that can be used without connecting a compatible piano or keyboard.

Pros and cons

Real-time feedback and progress tracking: learners can get feedback while playing and follow their progress, rather than relying on lessons alone.
Broad course scope: theory, note reading, technique, and songs support several parts of piano learning in one curriculum.
Instructor support on Premium: one-on-one help adds a human resource beyond automated feedback.
Mobile-only lessons and no offline access: learners who prefer a computer or need to practice without connectivity should look elsewhere.
Annual billing is a substantial upfront commitment: the lowest monthly rate requires a $149.99 payment every 12 months.

Alternatives

Music Learning Apps is a broader category directory for comparing options.

Choose flowkey if you want another freemium piano-learning option with free songs and course lessons and a 7-day trial; Skoove's Premium plans include instructor support, while flowkey's supplied free-plan facts describe a smaller free selection.

Piano Marvel is worth considering if desktop support matters: it runs on Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows, and its free plan includes performance feedback and scoring, lesson exercises, and video lessons.

Simply Guitar is a freemium, mobile option for learners choosing a guitar-learning app instead of piano instruction.

MasterPiano may suit learners who want a free plan with daily practice limits or unlimited practice time on Premium; it supports iOS and web.

EarMaster is a freemium alternative for learners seeking support across Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows.

Complete Music Reading Trainer is a better fit when the priority is music reading and access to a bundled web and desktop app; its platforms include Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows.

JustinGuitar is another freemium option with phone, tablet, and web access, and is aimed at guitar learners.

Melodics is an alternative for learners who want an iOS, macOS, or Windows app and a family plan with up to four Premium accounts.

Verdict

Skoove is a strong choice for adult and teenage piano learners who want app-based courses, real-time feedback, and the option of one-on-one instructor support. Its strongest reason to choose it is the combination of structured lessons with feedback on playing; its clearest reason to look elsewhere is the lack of desktop lessons and offline access.
