Overview

UpPromote is an affiliate platform built for Shopify merchants, with referral tracking, partner management and payout tools. It suits stores that want their affiliate program tied closely to Shopify; the trade-off is that paid plans add a fee on successful referral sales, so growth can raise costs beyond the subscription.

Key features

Tracking covers links, coupons, connected customers and connected products, using last-click attribution and a 3,652-day cookie window. That gives Shopify stores several ways to attribute a referral, including coupon-led sales, while the long window may suit programs whose referrals take time to convert.

Affiliates have a partner portal, and merchants can schedule payouts through PayPal or store credit. Fraud detection targets spam signups and suspected referrals, useful safeguards for a growing program but not a substitute for reviewing questionable activity. Integrations include Wise, email marketing and subscription apps, Shopify customer accounts, API and postback URLs. UpPromote advertises 24/7 support.

Shopify Plus is supported. Creator Discovery is an optional add-on starting at $39.00 USD per month, searching creators across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Enterprise includes API and webhook customization and unlimited staff accounts; Professional is limited to four staff accounts.

Pricing

The Free plan costs $0.00 USD per free and allows one affiliate program, one coupon per affiliate and $3,000 in referral reviews per month. It also includes 100 bulk emails per day and a 50 MB media gallery. That is a workable starting point for a small program, but the review cap and single-program limit constrain expansion.

Growth is $29.99 USD per month, plus 2% of successful referral sales. It raises the allowance to 300 referral reviews per month and 300 bulk emails per day, while retaining one coupon per affiliate and a 50 MB media gallery. It is the lowest paid tier, but the sales fee means merchants should compare the percentage cost with their referral volume rather than treating $29.99 as the whole bill.

Professional costs $89.99 USD per month, plus 1.5% of successful referral sales. It includes 600 monthly referral reviews, unlimited programs and coupons, 400 bulk emails per day and an unlimited media gallery. This fits merchants running multiple programs who can use the expanded limits; it still has a sales-based fee and a four-staff-account ceiling.

Enterprise is $199.99 USD per month, plus 1% of successful referral sales. Unlimited referral reviews, programs, coupons and media gallery, 500 bulk emails per day, API and webhook customization, and unlimited staff accounts make it the tier for larger teams with heavier review needs. The lower percentage fee does not eliminate transaction-based cost.

Yearly billing is advertised as saving 17%. Creator Discovery is a separate optional add-on starting at $39.00 USD per month. The pricing note also cites a 14-day trial, while no refund policy is stated.

Platforms

UpPromote is built for Shopify and supports Shopify Plus; API is also listed as a platform. Its Shopify focus makes it a poor fit for teams that need a standalone affiliate system across unrelated commerce platforms.

Who it's for

Choose UpPromote if your store runs on Shopify and you want partner tracking, scheduled payouts and fraud detection alongside Shopify-oriented integrations. The free tier can suit a single small program, while Professional or Enterprise is more appropriate when program, review or staff limits become a bottleneck. Merchants who need predictable costs should model the percentage fee against expected successful referral sales before upgrading.

Pros and cons

Pro: Multiple tracking methods, including coupons and connected customers or products, provide options beyond referral links.
Pro: PayPal and store-credit payout scheduling, a partner portal and fraud detection cover core affiliate operations.
Pro: Professional and Enterprise remove program and coupon limits, with Enterprise also allowing unlimited staff accounts.
Con: Every paid plan adds a percentage of successful referral sales, so total cost scales with performance.
Con: Growth keeps the one-program limit, and Professional caps staff at four; teams outgrowing those boundaries must move up.
Con: The Free tier's $3,000 monthly referral-review allowance may be restrictive for a store with higher referral volume.

Alternatives

Consider OpenPartner if self-hosting or web access matters alongside API support; its Revshare plan charges 3% of GMV with no monthly fee and allows unlimited partners, links and campaigns. Refport may suit teams prioritizing a free tier with stated link, click and seat limits, or a Starter plan with two programs and three seats. Revshare is another freemium API alternative. Sentalong offers a free plan for 10 active affiliates and $2,000 monthly tracked revenue, with a $49.00 USD monthly Growth plan for higher scale. Endorsely is worth comparing if affiliate-finder credits are relevant; its Pro plan is $39.00 USD per month and covers up to $5,000 affiliate revenue. Siren has a free-forever Lite plan with unlimited programs, affiliates and conversions. Affilyn offers a permanent free plan with five active partners and a VIP storefront. Sprout Affiliate provides a free plan for one program and up to 200 referral orders per month.

Verdict

UpPromote is a strong choice for Shopify merchants who want a Shopify-centered affiliate program with varied referral tracking, scheduled payouts and room to scale. Its main appeal is the combination of operational tools and Shopify fit; look elsewhere if you need broader platform flexibility or want to avoid paying a percentage of successful referral sales.
