Overview

Workforce.com ties demand forecasting and schedule generation to HR and payroll processes. That can reduce the need to manage separate systems for shift coverage, employee records, and pay. The trade-off is a paid platform whose cost depends on staff count, selected modules, and implementation requirements.

Key features

Scheduling combines auto-scheduling with availability collection, time-off management, open shifts, and shift swaps. For teams with variable demand and changing availability, those tools address more of the coverage process than a simple shift calendar. Employers with stable schedules may not need that breadth.

HR covers onboarding and offboarding, HRIS and employee self-service, performance management, and applicant tracking. Payroll includes time and attendance, wage-and-hour automation, tax filing, and benefits management. Together, these modules make the platform more compelling for employers that want scheduling connected to employee administration and pay than for buyers looking for a standalone HR or payroll tool.

The integrations directory includes ADP, QuickBooks, Gusto, Indeed, Clover, and Lightspeed. Workforce.com supports Google SSO by default and role-based access controls, with logical separation between customer organizations; credentials are stored using salted bcrypt hashing. These are relevant controls for teams handling employee data, though they do not replace a buyer's own security review.

The Workforce mobile app is available on phones and tablets. A separate Time Clock App has a significant hardware constraint: it requires a compatible Apple or Android tablet and cannot run on a computer. Live chat support runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm GMT, so teams needing help outside those hours will need another support route.

Pricing

Workforce.com offers a 14-day trial and no free plan. Plans are licensed per user, with custom pricing based on modules, staff count, and implementation requirements. That structure can accommodate different operational needs, but buyers should confirm the total cost for their workforce and chosen configuration before committing.

Scheduling: Employee scheduling, labor forecasting, communications, shift management, and the employee app. It is the focused option for teams that want workforce planning without the full HR and payroll package.
HR: Onboarding and offboarding, HRIS and self-service, time and attendance, performance, and applicant tracking. It fits employers prioritizing employee administration, while payroll functions are not part of this plan.
Payroll: Full-service payroll, time and attendance, wage-and-hour automation, tax filing, and benefits management. It suits teams focused on pay administration, but does not include the Scheduling plan's listed forecasting and shift-management package.
All-in-One: Scheduling, HR, payroll, and advanced implementation support. It is the broadest fit for employers seeking one system across these functions, with implementation support included.
All-in-One Plan (Canada): 12.80 CAD per month, billed excluding applicable taxes. It includes scheduling, time and attendance, labour forecasting, onboarding, leave management, and employee self-service. The stated price and plan are for Canada.

Platforms

Workforce.com supports Android, iOS, web, and API access, and its mobile app works on phones and tablets. The Time Clock App is the exception to that flexibility: it must run on a compatible tablet, not a computer.

Who it's for

Workforce.com is a stronger fit for shift-based employers in hospitality, retail, and care that need demand-informed scheduling alongside HR and payroll. Its module choices let buyers focus on scheduling, HR, payroll, or their combination. Teams with modest scheduling needs, limited budgets, or no appetite for implementation work should compare narrower tools first.

Pros and cons

Pro: Scheduling, HR, and payroll can be brought into one platform, reducing the need to coordinate those functions across separate products.
Pro: Demand forecasting, auto-scheduling, availability, open shifts, and shift swaps address practical coverage needs for variable shift work.
Pro: The plans offer distinct module combinations, including a Canadian all-in-one option with scheduling, time and attendance, and HR essentials.
Con: Per-user custom pricing tied to staff count, modules, and implementation makes budgeting less straightforward than a fixed-price tool.
Con: The Time Clock App cannot run on a computer, limiting use to compatible Apple or Android tablets.
Con: Live chat is limited to weekdays, 9am to 5pm GMT, which may not suit teams needing support outside that window.

Alternatives

For a restaurant-focused shortlist, compare restaurant labor management software, restaurant payroll software, and restaurant scheduling software. Care operators can also review healthcare staff scheduling software, while gyms may prefer to browse gym staff scheduling software. Buyers focused on time tracking can compare time clock software.

7shifts is worth considering for smaller teams seeking a free entry point: its Comp plan is 0.00 USD per free for up to 15 employees at one location. RotaCloud may suit a very small operation that wants a defined entry price: its Standard plan is 10.00 GBP per month, billed monthly, for 1–5 employees, with unlimited sites and departments; yearly billing is also offered with two months free. When I Work is another option when a published per-user starting price matters: Essentials is 2.50 USD per month billed per user per month and includes auto-scheduling and multi-week and multi-location scheduling.

Fourth Inventory is a paid alternative with pricing available by demo. Crunchtime Labor & Scheduling is a paid option whose demo request is aimed at operators with 10 or more restaurant locations. Sling offers a free plan for up to 30 users. Homebase offers free-plan availability and separately priced task and tip manager add-ons. Rosnet Scheduling & Forecasting is another paid scheduling and forecasting option with pricing discussed by demo.

Verdict

Choose Workforce.com if a shift-based operation needs scheduling, HR, and payroll coordinated in one system, and can accommodate per-user custom pricing and implementation. Its main advantage is the scope of functions under one platform; look elsewhere if a low-cost scheduling-only tool or computer-based time clock is the priority.
