Overview

Plox lets recipients open shared documents in a browser without creating an account, while owners can require email verification, a passcode, or an NDA. Page-by-page engagement tracking and real-time view notifications help senders understand what recipients read, rather than merely whether a link was opened.

AI-powered data rooms organize documents for transactions and other structured sharing. Owners can replace a document without changing its link and retain version history, a useful way to keep an active share current. Dynamic watermarks and the ability to revoke access add controls for sensitive files.

Key features

Access options let teams tune friction to the material: open links are convenient for routine sharing, while email checks, passcodes, or NDA gating add barriers when needed. Watermarks and revocation help manage exposure after a document is sent. Plox also includes an audit trail and a Q&A workspace.

The REST API uses OAuth 2.0, and documented webhook events cover document views, data-room views, and new leads. Failed webhook deliveries do not retry indefinitely, so workflows that depend on every event should account for that behavior. Zapier automation connects Plox with 7,000+ apps, which may be the more accessible route for teams that do not want to build directly against the API.

Support is handled by email at rohan@plox.in; Plox says a person usually reads messages within a few hours. The company describes itself as bootstrapped and profitable, with three founders building and supporting the product.

Pricing

Plox has a free plan, paid plans from $19/mo on annual billing, and a 14-day trial. The free tier costs 0.00 USD per free, billed annually, and includes 50 documents, 100 MB maximum uploads, 30-day analytics history, and one seat. It is a sensible way for an individual to try tracked sharing, but the document and history caps constrain ongoing use.

Pro costs 19.00 USD per month, billed annually. It raises the allowance to unlimited documents, 1 GB uploads, and one year of analytics history, but remains limited to one seat and has no data room allocation. It fits a solo user with recurring sharing needs, not a team collaboration workflow.

Team costs 79.00 USD per month, billed annually, and includes unlimited documents, 5 GB uploads, two years of analytics history, one data room, and three seats. Additional seats cost $20. This is the first tier that combines a room with multiple seats, though the single-room limit and extra-seat charge matter as deal teams grow.

Data Rooms costs 199.00 USD per month, billed annually. It includes unlimited documents, uploads, analytics history, and data rooms, with three seats; additional seats cost $30. It is aimed at organizations running multiple rooms or handling larger files, but the seat allowance still means budgeting for expansion. Annual billing applies to the paid plan prices.

Platforms

Plox is available on the web and through an API. Browser-based recipient access reduces friction for people outside the buying organization, while OAuth 2.0 API access and Zapier support offer routes to integrate sharing and activity into existing workflows.

Who it's for

Plox is a good fit for solo professionals and small teams sharing fundraising, board, investor-relations, M&A, or sales documents who need to see page-level engagement and control access. Teams with larger uploads or several simultaneous transactions should compare the 5 GB Team allowance and the Data Rooms tier's unlimited uploads and rooms against their expected workload. It is less suitable for organizations that need more seats without added cost or that require webhook delivery retries to continue indefinitely.

Pros and cons

Pros: Recipients can view links without an account, while owners retain optional email, passcode, and NDA gates.
Pros: Page-level analytics, real-time notifications, and version history make shared documents more manageable after sending.
Pros: OAuth 2.0 API access, specific webhook events, and Zapier automation provide integration choices.
Cons: Free is capped at 50 documents, 100 MB uploads, 30 days of analytics, and one seat.
Cons: Pro remains single-seat; Team starts with three seats and charges extra for more, while Data Rooms also starts at three.
Cons: Failed webhook deliveries do not retry indefinitely, which limits reliance on webhooks without additional handling.

Alternatives

For a wider set of data-room options, browse Data Room Software. Choose CapLinked if its Team plan's unlimited guest users and 5GB storage better suit the sharing model. Clinked is another paid alternative, with a Start Up plan shown at $11 per user and 200 GB storage for 1–25 users. Consider iDeals Virtual Data Room for a choice with unlimited users and administrators on its Premier plan.

netfiles Deal Room offers a Deal Room Premium plan with unlimited users and a three-month minimum term. ShareVault describes its Express plan for small advisory projects, one-off transactions, and internal or board sharing. Ansarada offers free preparation until a room goes live or 90 days after creation, whichever comes first. Drooms has a free Starter tier with 150 MB storage, two user licenses, and three room projects. Ellty is a freemium web alternative with a free Standard plan that includes 50 GB per user and 2 GB maximum uploads.

Verdict

Choose Plox if your team needs to share sensitive documents through low-friction links while tracking reader engagement and organizing deal materials. Its combination of granular viewing data, configurable access, and API or Zapier integration is the main reason to shortlist it. Look elsewhere if you need generous seats included at each tier or dependable indefinite webhook retries; otherwise, match the plan's upload and room limits to the work before committing to annual billing.
