Overview

Vidlens is a YouTube SEO toolkit for creators and teams who want video scoring, competitor monitoring and keyword work alongside channel tools. Its mix of an in-YouTube extension and a REST API makes it a stronger fit for workflows that need both quick checks and programmatic analysis than for creators seeking only a narrow utility.

The free plan offers a practical entry point, but meaningful scale comes with paid tiers: API quotas, competitor-channel limits and AI allowances rise by plan, while several publishing and testing features are reserved for higher tiers.

Key features

The SEO Score rates titles, descriptions, tags, engagement and early performance on a 0–100 scale. That gives creators a compact way to review several optimization signals together, though it is a score rather than a substitute for deciding which changes suit a channel’s audience.

Competitor monitoring checks uploads hourly and can email when a video gains views three times faster than usual. This is useful for spotting unusually fast-moving videos without repeatedly checking rival channels, but the number of channels tracked depends on plan.

The Chrome extension brings SEO scores, views per hour, outlier badges and Studio checks into YouTube. For creators already working in YouTube, that keeps analysis close to the publishing workflow; the web platform and API provide other ways to access the toolkit.

Channel connections use read-only YouTube OAuth scopes, including youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly. The REST API supports video analysis, bulk analysis for up to 50 videos per request, keyword suggestions and scores, competitor tracking, and trend endpoints. Daily request limits range from 150 on Free to 50,000 on Agency, making the tier choice material for teams automating repeated analysis.

Passwords use bcrypt, OAuth refresh tokens use AES-256-GCM encryption, and connections use HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or newer. Vidlens says its data processing is designed to meet GDPR and Turkey’s KVKK requirements. Users can export data in machine-readable format, delete accounts and revoke YouTube access; YouTube API data is generally purged after 30 days.

Pricing

Vidlens is freemium, with no free trial and a Free plan billed Forever. Free includes 30 AI credits per month, one competitor channel, AI title, description and tag tools, and keyword research. It suits initial research, but the 150-request daily API ceiling and one-channel monitoring limit constrain heavier use.

Pro costs 14.99 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes 2,000 AI credits per month, five competitor channels, five active A/B tests, 100 AI thumbnails per month, 50 bulk videos per day and 30 Suggested Shorts per month. This is the entry paid tier for creators who want recurring testing and more competitor coverage; it does not include API access among the stated plan features.

Max costs 39.99 USD per month, billed monthly. It raises the allowance to 6,000 AI credits, 25 competitor channels, unlimited A/B testing, unlimited AI thumbnails, 500 bulk videos per day and unlimited Suggested Shorts, and adds API access. Priority support is also included. It fits creators or small teams whose testing and bulk-analysis needs exceed Pro.

Agency costs 99.99 USD per month, billed monthly. It includes unlimited AI credits, 100 competitor channels, unlimited bulk editing, API access, white-label branding, up to 10 channels and a dedicated account manager, alongside priority support. This tier is aimed at agencies managing multiple channels; teams that do not need its channel capacity or white-label controls may find Max the more proportionate choice.

Daily API limits are 150 requests on Free, 2,000 on Pro, 10,000 on Max and 50,000 on Agency. The API is a stated feature of Max and Agency; the request figures make quota planning important for automated workflows. Vidlens accepts USDT TRC20 payments through NOWPayments.

Platforms

Vidlens is available as a web product, a Chrome extension and an API. The extension puts selected metrics into YouTube, while the API supports integrations and batch work. The platform combination suits teams that want to move between in-product checks and software-driven analysis rather than rely on a single interface.

Who it's for

Vidlens is best for YouTube creators and teams that need to compare video performance, monitor competitors and work with keywords in one toolkit. Pro makes sense for an individual creator adding tests and thumbnail generation; Max is the better fit when API access, larger bulk-analysis allowances or extensive testing matter. Agencies managing multiple channels have a clearer case for Agency. A creator who needs only basic, occasional keyword research can start with Free.

Pros and cons

Pros

Multiple analysis paths: Extension, web and API access accommodate both in-YouTube checks and programmatic workflows.
Useful competitor signals: Hourly upload monitoring and alerts for unusually fast view gains can help teams notice emerging videos promptly.
Clear plan progression: Competitor channels, AI credits, bulk capacity and API limits expand across tiers, giving teams concrete thresholds for upgrading.
Account and data controls: Export, deletion and YouTube-access revocation give users practical control over their data and connection.

Cons

Free is narrow for ongoing monitoring: One competitor channel and 150 daily API requests are limiting for comparative or automated workflows.
API access starts at higher tiers: Despite API quotas being specified for every plan, API access is a stated feature only on Max and Agency, so Pro is not the route for API-based work.
Capabilities are split by tier: Pro caps active tests, thumbnails, bulk videos and Suggested Shorts, while unlimited versions require Max.
Agency is a substantial step up: At 99.99 USD per month, it is aimed at multi-channel operations rather than a solo creator.

Alternatives

YouTube SEO Tools is the broader category directory for comparing options across this use case.

1of10 is worth considering for creators focused on outlier and thumbnail discovery; its Free plan gives 60 credits a month for one channel, with those searches limited to five results.

TubeSpanner suits creators looking for a free-forever starting tier with two video scripts and two thumbnail designs per month, or a free trial before choosing a paid plan.

vidIQ is an alternative for teams that want mobile apps alongside extension and web access; its Free plan includes 150 AI credits monthly, three keyword results per search and eight outlier results per search.

Rapidtags is a narrower option for tag generation, keyword research and rank checks, with its Starter plan priced at 6.00 USD per month.

YTStudio is a free web option offering 40+ tools without signup.

YTThumbnail is a free option for personal, non-commercial use across Android, iOS and web, with no registration or payment required.

TubeBuddy is another freemium YouTube tool with extension and mobile support; its Legend tier includes advanced analytics and full search and SEO access.

RankVids is a paid web alternative with a Starter plan at 23.99 USD per month, billed every three months and renewing automatically after three months.

Verdict

Choose Vidlens if your YouTube workflow benefits from combined video scoring, competitor alerts and keyword tools, especially when you want an extension and API in the same product. Its free tier makes a low-commitment start possible, while Max is the practical step for API access and higher-volume analysis. Look elsewhere if you need only a single-purpose tool or if Pro’s lack of stated API access blocks your workflow.
