Overview

Piktochart brings varied visual formats together rather than centering on one type of design. Templates, illustration tools, and a brand kit support repeatable work, while AI can generate visual content from prompts in under 10 seconds. Charts can draw on CSV imports or dynamic data from Google Sheets, a practical fit for materials that need to track changing figures.

Teams can share work, comment, review, and make revisions in a shared workspace. That workflow is a meaningful advantage for communications teams coordinating approvals, though it does not replace a desktop or mobile app: Piktochart runs on the web only. The free plan is useful for exploring the platform, but its two PNG downloads make it restrictive for ongoing production.

Key features

One workspace for varied formats

Infographic, presentation, document, print, social media, and video tools give teams room to produce several kinds of communication in the same platform. Video aspect ratios accommodate destinations such as YouTube and TikTok. This breadth is valuable when deliverables overlap, but a team looking for a dedicated video editor or a specialized design workflow may prefer a more focused tool.

Charts and AI-assisted creation

CSV and Google Sheets imports let users build charts from data rather than manually reproducing figures. Piktochart AI can generate visual content from a prompt in under 10 seconds, which may help move from a brief to a draft quickly. The AI-credit quotas on paid plans mean frequent generation is still something to factor into plan selection.

Shared review and assets

The shared workspace supports comments, review, and revisions, making Piktochart more appropriate for team handoffs than a tool limited to individual editing. Pro adds access to more than 5 million premium icons, illustrations, and 3D graphics. Two-factor authentication and Google or Facebook authentication are supported; paid plans also include live chat alongside email support and a self-service knowledge base.

Pricing

Piktochart uses a freemium model. Free creation makes it possible to try the workflow without a subscription, but the download cap is the main constraint for anyone producing finished work regularly. Plans can be canceled at any time.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
Free	0.00 USD per free	1–4 team members, 2 downloads, 1 GB storage, 60 AI credits, and free templates	Individuals and small teams evaluating the platform or making occasional visuals
Pro	10.00 USD per month, billed annually	1–100 team members, unlimited downloads, 100 GB storage, and 500 AI credits	Teams that need regular exports and more storage without Business-level quotas
Business	17.00 USD per month, billed annually	1–100 team members, unlimited downloads, 250 GB storage, and 1,000 AI credits	Teams with higher storage and AI-generation needs
Enterprise	Custom pricing	101+ team members and 250 GB storage; includes advanced security review, MSA support, and SSO/SAML	Larger organizations that need enterprise security and support
Education	39.00 USD per year, billed annually	1–100 team members, 100 GB storage, and 250 AI credits	Education users who need a paid plan at an annual price
Campus	Custom pricing	Minimum 3000 seats for universities and colleges	Institutions provisioning at least 3000 seats
Nonprofit	60.00 USD per year, billed annually	1–100 team members, 100 GB storage, and 250 AI credits	Nonprofits needing a paid plan at an annual price

Pro removes the free plan’s download cap and expands storage and AI credits, but it is billed annually. Business costs more and doubles the Pro AI-credit allowance while providing 250 GB of storage. Education and Nonprofit provide 100 GB and 250 AI credits at annual prices; their listed team limit is 100. Enterprise and Campus use custom pricing, with Campus requiring a 3000-seat minimum.

Business, Education, and Nonprofit support PNG, PDF, and PowerPoint downloads. The Free plan’s downloads are PNG only, so teams that need PDF or PowerPoint exports should look at one of those paid plans.

Platforms

Piktochart is web-only, with no desktop or mobile app. That suits teams working in a browser, but is a drawback for users who need a dedicated app on a computer or phone. Support includes a self-service knowledge base and email, with live chat on paid plans.

Who it's for

Piktochart is a strong fit for communications, education, and nonprofit teams that make several kinds of visual content and need colleagues to review and revise it together. Its chart imports and brand kit are useful when teams need repeatable, data-informed materials. It is less suitable for frequent free-plan exporting, app-dependent workflows, or organizations seeking a dedicated tool for just one design format.

Pros and cons

Multiple formats in one workspace: infographic, presentation, document, print, social, and video tools suit teams with varied deliverables.
Data can feed charts: CSV and Google Sheets imports reduce the need to rebuild changing figures by hand.
Shared review is built in: comments and revisions help teams coordinate visual approvals in one workspace.
Free exports are tightly capped: two PNG downloads make the free plan better for evaluation than sustained production.
No desktop or mobile apps: users who require a native app must choose a different workflow.
Annual billing on the priced paid plans: Pro and Business are monthly amounts billed annually, while Education and Nonprofit are annual prices.

Alternatives

Design.com is another web-based freemium option, with a free plan that includes AI logo generation, a brand kit, and high-resolution PNG and JPG downloads as well as vector formats and commercial use rights.

Easil offers a free plan with 2,500+ templates and a Plus plan for 7.50 USD per month per user; it may suit readers prioritizing a template library. Kittl has a free plan with five projects and 100 one-time AI tokens, an alternative for users comfortable with a project-limited free tier.

MyCreativeShop offers a free web editor with 29,000+ templates and one brand kit; print orders are priced separately. Picmaker has a free plan with 200 MB storage and three watermark-free downloads per month, making it an alternative for users whose needs fit that smaller monthly export allowance.

Verdict

Choose Piktochart if your team needs a browser-based place to create varied visual materials, bring data into charts, and coordinate review. Its broad format coverage and shared workspace are the clearest reasons to pick it; the two-download free cap and lack of desktop or mobile apps are the strongest reasons to look elsewhere.
