Overview

Founded in 2014, Pixsy serves photographers, designers, illustrators, photo agencies and media companies. It searches for image use across the web, and its API and web platforms make it relevant to both individual creators and teams integrating image workflows.

Pixsy describes itself as a software and image-licensing company, not a law firm. It acts as a licensing agent and may involve local law firms and attorneys when needed. Successful cases carry a 50% service fee, so the value proposition depends on whether delegating resolution outweighs giving up half of a successful recovery.

Key features

Reverse image search and continuous AI monitoring look for new matches and send email alerts. AI groups matches by country, category, commerciality and other criteria, with filters to narrow results. That organization is useful when reviewing an ongoing stream of matches across a portfolio, rather than checking images one at a time.

Pixsy handles submitted cases through post-licensing and negotiation, with litigation potentially pursued through local legal partners. A human case manager provides updates by email and through a personalized dashboard. Takedown notices span more than 35 countries and 14 languages, with AI identifying the country and language. These services reduce the amount of case administration a customer must handle, but do not remove the substantial success fee.

Images can be synced from Flickr, SmugMug, PhotoShelter, Tumblr, EyeEm, PhotoDeck, Instagram, Zenfolio, FTP, AWS S3 and API, or uploaded from Google Drive, Dropbox or a computer. Free, Personal, Advanced and monthly Pro have limited import sources; Pro annual includes unlimited sources plus FTP. For a library spread across multiple services, checking source compatibility matters before choosing a plan.

Pixsy says it enforces HTTPS with an HSTS header and has a company-wide data protection management system based on GDPR requirements. Successful case payments can be remitted worldwide by bank transfer, wire or PayPal.

Pricing

Pixsy is freemium, with paid plans from 19.00 USD per month. There is no free trial; the Free plan provides a way to start without a subscription, but has no takedown notices and only regular-priority match scanning.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	500 monitored images, limited import sources, regular-priority scanning, 0 takedown notices, unlimited free case submission.
Personal	19.00 USD per month, billed monthly	2,000 monitored images, limited import sources, medium-priority scanning, 20 monthly takedown notices, unlimited free case submission.
Advanced	39.00 USD per month, billed monthly	30,000 monitored images, limited import sources, high-priority scanning, 300 monthly takedown notices, unlimited free case submission.
Pro	89.00 USD per month, billed monthly	100,000 monitored images, limited import sources, highest-priority scanning, 900 monthly takedown notices, unlimited free case submission.
Business	Custom pricing	Custom image volume, custom integrations and a bespoke combination of services.

Personal is the entry paid option for a smaller portfolio that needs some monthly notice capacity. Advanced raises the image allowance to 30,000 and notices to 300, while Pro is aimed at larger portfolios needing the highest scan priority and up to 900 notices a month. Free case submission is included at every listed tier, but the 50% fee on successful cases still applies. The lower plans trade away scanning priority and notice volume, and all but Pro annual have limited import sources.

Business suits organizations needing custom volume or integrations rather than a fixed quota. Pixsy also states an image upload limit of 2,000 images per month; teams importing larger collections should account for that alongside each plan’s monitored-image cap.

Platforms

Pixsy is available on web and through an API. Its source options include cloud and photo services, FTP and AWS S3, though plan-level import restrictions affect how much of that connectivity is usable.

Who it's for

Pixsy fits photographers and other image owners who want continuous web monitoring and a managed route from match review to licensing, negotiation or takedown. Agencies and media companies with larger libraries may benefit from Advanced, Pro or a custom Business plan, provided the quotas and import terms fit their collections.

It is a weaker fit for occasional searchers who only need to identify an image, or rights holders who prefer to manage enforcement themselves and keep all recovery proceeds. The 50% success fee and limited lower-tier imports are material trade-offs.

Pros and cons

Pros: Continuous monitoring with alerts and categorized matches supports recurring oversight rather than isolated searches.
Pros: Case managers, multilingual takedown coverage and potential local legal support provide a path from discovery to resolution.
Pros: Unlimited free case submission appears across the plans, while paid tiers scale monitored images and monthly notice quotas.
Cons: Pixsy takes 50% of successful case payments, a substantial reduction in recovered value.
Cons: Free includes zero takedown notices, and paid plans differ sharply in monthly notice allowance and scan priority.
Cons: Import sources are limited on Free, Personal, Advanced and monthly Pro, which can complicate portfolio ingestion.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Reverse Image Search Software or AI Reverse Image Search Tools.

Choose Imagga Visual Search when you need a broader API toolkit that also includes background removal, barcode recognition and OCR; its Indie plan is 79.00 USD per month for 70,000 API requests. SerpApi is another API and web option, with a free tier offering 250 searches per month.

Lenso.ai is worth considering when broad device and platform coverage matters, spanning mobile, desktop, web, extension and API. Copyseeker may suit users prioritizing unlimited searches at a lower subscription price, with its Monthly plan at 9.00 USD per month.

FaceCheck.ID is a freemium API, extension and web alternative with credit-based one-time plans. Berify offers web-based reverse image search, a free tier and a 1,000-image plan for 5.95 USD per month.

Reverse Image Search Anywhere is a free option with a public MIT-licensed extension. RIMG offers free reverse image searches with no usage limit stated.

Verdict

Pixsy is a strong fit for creators and image-rights teams that want ongoing monitoring plus a managed case process, and can accept a 50% fee on successful cases. Choose it for that end-to-end assistance; look elsewhere if you need only occasional searches, broader import access on a lower tier, or greater control over recovered proceeds.
