Overview

Poll Everywhere adds live polling, Q&A, and quizzes to presentations, classes, meetings, and events. It suits presenters who want audience input without asking participants to install an app or create an account. Its broad presentation support and real-time responses are compelling, but the free audience cap and the jump to paid plans matter when choosing it for recurring or larger sessions.

Key features

Audience interaction and reporting

Participants join from a phone or laptop through a custom URL, and responses appear as they arrive. Alongside polls, Q&A, and quizzes, formats include word clouds, competitions, Likert scales, attendance, media, and clickable images; anonymous responses are supported. This variety makes the product useful for both collecting opinions and checking understanding during a session, rather than limiting presenters to a single poll format.

Reporting can track participation, summarize results, review questions, and export data as CSV. That gives teams a way to retain session outcomes, though the listed reporting features do not establish how far analysis goes beyond those tasks.

Presentation and collaboration

Integrations include PowerPoint, Google Slides, Apple Keynote, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Zoom; presentation formats also include Canva and PDFs. That range helps teams add audience interaction without abandoning familiar presentation tools. Enterprise adds shared polls, teams, custom audience sizes, and SAML single sign-on, making it the clearest fit for organizations that need centralized collaboration or identity controls.

The service states WCAG 2.2 AA compliance and lists ISO/IEC 27001, 27701, and 42001 certifications plus a SOC 2 Type 2 report. It also describes AES 256-bit encryption at rest, TLS 1.2 in transit, hashed and salted passwords, and US-only AWS storage. These are relevant considerations for schools and organizations assessing accessibility and data handling.

Pricing

Poll Everywhere uses a freemium model and offers a 30-day trial. The free Intro plan allows 40 audience members, unlimited questions, and 10 AI prompts per month; the audience allowance rises to 700 for 30 days. That is a useful way to try the interaction formats, but the standard 40-person ceiling makes it a poor default for larger events.

Present: $10/month, billed annually at $120, or $10 /month on monthly billing. It includes 700 audience responses, 100 AI prompts per month, and one seat. This is the entry paid option for an individual presenter who needs more audience capacity and prompt allowance.
Engage: $588.00 USD per year billed annually, or $99/month. It includes 700 audience responses, unlimited AI prompts, and two users. It suits a small team that needs more than one included user and does not need custom audience sizing.
Teams: $999.00 USD per year billed annually, or $249/month. It includes 700 audience responses, unlimited AI prompts, and two users. The higher price over Engage is substantial, while the stated audience and user counts are the same; buyers should weigh any unstated distinctions cautiously.
Enterprise: custom pricing, with custom audience sizes, teams, shared polls, and SAML SSO. This is the option for organizations that need scale or those team controls.

Accounts can be upgraded or downgraded at any time, with changes usually taking effect at the end of the billing cycle. Credits for removed presenters are prorated but not refundable, so seat changes do not guarantee cash back.

Platforms

Poll Everywhere supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Its integrations with common presentation and meeting tools make it relevant to teams working across desktop presentations and remote sessions.

Who it's for

Poll Everywhere is a strong fit for educators, trainers, event hosts, and corporate presenters who want a varied set of live response formats and reporting in the flow of a session. Its participant access model avoids app downloads and account setup. For audiences beyond the free cap, compare paid response limits with expected attendance; organizations needing custom scale, shared polls, or SAML should consider Enterprise. It is less suitable for teams that need a generous recurring free tier or a clearly lower-cost option for multiple presenters.

Pros and cons

Pro: Polls, Q&A, quizzes, anonymous responses, and varied formats support more kinds of audience input than basic polling alone.
Pro: Responses update in real time, and reports can summarize participation and export results as CSV.
Pro: Broad presentation and meeting integrations reduce the need to change established tools.
Con: Free access normally caps audiences at 40, making it restrictive for larger events unless using the 30-day 700-person allowance.
Con: Present includes only one seat, while Engage and Teams include two; teams needing more collaboration controls are directed toward custom-priced Enterprise.
Con: Removed-presenter credits are prorated but not refundable, which limits flexibility when staffing changes.

Formative may suit teachers prioritizing activity creation and basic auto-grading; its Free Teacher plan also includes basic integrations and released state test items.

Verdict

Choose Poll Everywhere if your classes, meetings, or presentations need multiple live response formats, familiar presentation integrations, and immediate results. Its main advantage is the breadth of ways audiences can contribute without an app or account; look elsewhere if a 40-person free cap is too limiting or if your team needs more seats without stepping up to custom Enterprise arrangements.
