Overview

Raycast reaches well beyond application launching: it combines file search and command launching with utilities such as Clipboard History, Calendar, Window Management, Snippets, Quicklinks, Notes and Calculator. That makes it a strong fit for people who want a keyboard-led hub for routine tasks, rather than a launcher limited to opening apps.

Its community Store adds extensions for services including Linear, Slack, Notion, Google Translate, Spotify, 1Password and Jira. Builders can use the extension API to create integrations, while organizations can publish private extensions. This flexibility is a meaningful advantage for teams with workflows to connect, though the useful scope depends on which platforms and plan features they need.

Key features

Launcher, utilities and extensions

The built-in tools cover a broad set of everyday needs: search for files, manage windows, keep notes and snippets, calculate, or get to destinations through Quicklinks. Workflow support and command launching make the launcher more than a static app index. The free plan includes core features and thousands of extensions, but its Clipboard History is limited to three months and Notes to five; those caps may be consequential for users who rely on either as long-term stores.

The Store provides a discovery route for community-built extensions, and the API gives developers a way to build integrations rather than wait for a built-in connection. Teams can keep organization-specific extensions private. Together, these options make Raycast more adaptable than a closed utility set, especially where a team wants to fit it to an existing stack.

AI and browser tools

Raycast AI includes AI Chat, Quick AI, Agents, AI Commands and AI Extensions, and supports models from multiple providers. The browser extension can summarize and answer questions about the active tab in Chromium-based browsers, Safari and Firefox. These features broaden the product beyond launching and search, but the paid plans distinguish themselves substantially by monthly AI credits and access to top-tier models.

Raycast says AI prompts are not logged or retained, its provider agreements prohibit training on user interactions, and AI input and output are encrypted in transit with TLS. Synced data is encrypted at rest using AES-256. Enterprise features include SOC 2 compliance, annual penetration testing, GDPR alignment and CCPA readiness. These are relevant assurances for teams evaluating adoption, without removing the need to assess their own security requirements.

Pricing

Raycast is freemium. The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes core features and thousands of extensions, with three months of Clipboard History and five Notes. It suits users who mainly need the launcher and extensions, but those caps constrain ongoing use of its built-in storage tools.

Pro costs 10.00 USD per month (billed $10 / month) and includes 500 AI credits/month, AI, Cloud Sync, Dictation, Custom Themes, Translator, unlimited Clipboard History and Notes. It is the natural step up for individuals who need those features or have outgrown the free caps. The credit allowance remains a limit for heavier AI use.

Pro+ costs 20.00 USD per month (billed $20 / month), with 3,000 AI credits/month and top-tier AI models, plus unlimited Clipboard History and Notes. Max costs 50.00 USD per month (billed $50 / month) and raises the allowance to 7,500 AI credits/month while retaining top-tier models and unlimited Clipboard History and Notes. These higher tiers are for users whose AI use justifies the larger monthly allowance; the price increase over Pro is difficult to justify if the additional credits and models are not needed.

Teams Free costs 0.00 USD per free, billed $0 / user / month. It allows unlimited team members and a Private Store, but caps sharing at five Commands, 30 Quicklinks and 30 Snippets. That is a practical starting point for small shared workflows, not a substitute for unlimited sharing. Teams Pro costs 15.00 USD per month (billed $15 / user / month) and provides 500 AI credits/user/month, unlimited shared Commands, Quicklinks and Snippets, and a Private Store. Per-user billing makes it important to weigh the sharing and AI needs across the whole team.

Eligible new accounts can start a free 7-day Pro trial with access to Pro models; advanced AI models are excluded. Raycast also directs users to its Slack community and publishes a Manual and Troubleshooting resources.

Platforms

Raycast is available on macOS, Windows, iOS and iPadOS, as well as through an API and extensions. The maker says it is not currently available on Android. Teams spanning supported desktop and mobile platforms may find the range useful, but Android-based workflows are a clear gap.

Who it's for

Raycast is strongest for individuals and teams that favor keyboard-driven work, want utilities and service integrations in one launcher, or need an API and private extensions to tailor workflows. Teams can begin with the free sharing limits and move to per-user Teams Pro when they need unlimited shared shortcuts and commands. It is less suited to Android-dependent teams or users who want more than the free storage caps without paying.

Pros and cons

Pros: A broad built-in toolkit and thousands of extensions bring file search, workflow support and everyday utilities into one keyboard-focused interface.
Pros: The extension API and private organization extensions give builders and teams room to integrate custom workflows.
Pros: Teams Free has no seat cap, while Teams Pro removes the listed sharing caps.
Cons: Free limits Clipboard History to three months and Notes to five, which can make it unsuitable as a durable personal workspace.
Cons: AI allowances are tiered, and accessing larger quotas or top-tier models raises the monthly price.
Cons: Android is not supported, ruling it out for teams that need that platform.

Verdict

Choose Raycast if your work benefits from a keyboard-first launcher that can grow through extensions, custom integrations and team sharing. Its main advantage is how much workflow surface it brings together; its main reasons to look elsewhere are the free plan’s Clipboard History and Notes caps, tiered AI costs, and lack of Android support.
