Overview

The product focuses on recurring team coordination rather than replacing a project-management suite: check in on work, estimate tasks, and turn retrospective discussion into prioritized actions. That combination can keep rituals connected to delivery work, while the participant cap may rule it out for larger sessions.

Key features

Structured team rituals

Standups organize check-ins around yesterday’s work, today’s work, and impediments. Planning poker uses estimation cards to help a team converge on a task estimate. Retrospectives provide a digital board for collecting and discussing notes, then prioritizing action items. These defined formats are useful for teams seeking consistency; the five-person participant limit is a substantial constraint for broader groups.

Integrations and API

Integrations include Slack, Microsoft Teams, Jira, Asana, Linear, and Basecamp. Jira support is notably workflow-oriented: it can create estimation tasks from issue keys, update story points, and create Jira issues from retrospective action items. The REST API v2 covers members, teams, standups, planning poker, retrospectives, action items, and timeline records, making it relevant to teams connecting the service to their own workflows.

AI and security

AI Assist summarizes meetings and suggests action items, and is included with Growth and Enterprise. Communications use TLS 1.2 or later and stored data uses AES-256 encryption. Data centers operate in AWS Europe (Frankfurt) through Render. Application data remains until account termination; server logs are kept for seven days and anonymized audit logs for a year. Sign-in supports Slack, Microsoft or Google social login, and passwordless email; the maker says it stores no passwords. Per-organization SAML 2.0 SSO, including Okta, is supported.

Pricing

Team O’clock uses a freemium model, with a 15-day trial and paid plans from $3/mo. The Growth plan costs 3.00 USD per month, billed per active member, and starts at 10 monthly active members. It includes all retrospective activities, unlimited activity history, team metrics, meeting customizations, and AI Assist. This is the clearest fit for teams that need the full retrospective workflow and longer history, but its minimum active-member threshold makes it a poor match for very small teams.

The Free plan has no published price and is capped at 5 monthly active members, one retrospective activity, 14 days of activity history, and team metrics covering 14 days. It provides a way to try the core rituals, but the single activity and short history limit ongoing use. Enterprise has custom pricing for 200 or more monthly active members, with SAML SSO and custom billing; it is aimed at large organizations that need those terms. The gap between the free cap of five and Growth starting at ten leaves teams in between without a matching stated threshold.

Platforms

Team O’clock is available on web and through an API. Its documented REST API v2 spans the main team and activity records, offering a route for custom workflow connections. The five-person participant limit remains relevant regardless of platform.

Who it's for

It is best suited to remote teams that want standups, estimation, and retrospectives in one focused tool, particularly those already using one of its supported chat or project integrations. Jira teams have a practical advantage from the issue and story-point actions. Larger meeting groups should look elsewhere if they need more than five participants.

Pros and cons

Pros: Standups, planning poker, and retrospectives share one focused workflow, reducing the need to piece together separate ritual tools.
Pros: Jira can exchange estimation tasks, story points, and retrospective actions with Team O’clock, which ties meetings to tracked work.
Pros: REST API v2 covers core team activities, supporting integrations beyond the named connectors.
Cons: Sessions are limited to five participants, restricting its suitability for larger teams.
Cons: Free is limited to one retrospective activity and 14 days of activity history, so sustained use may require Growth.
Cons: Growth starts at 10 monthly active members, a threshold that may not suit teams between the free cap and that minimum.

Alternatives

For a free option with planning poker and no team, board, or per-seat limits, consider QRetro. FreeRetrospectives is another free choice, with retro rooms, live chat, action tracking, exports, AI recaps, and no per-user pricing. Choose ScatterSpoke if its free plan’s static surveys and limited one-time Agent Surveys and Ask credits better match your needs.

TeamRetro is a paid alternative with a trial and a Single Team plan billed at 20.83 USD per year, billed at US$250/yr, for one team and 25 members. Echometer, FocusRetro, Neatro, and Reetro are also options to compare. For broader category browsing, see Retrospective Software, Daily Standup Software, and Agile Project Management Software.

Verdict

Team O’clock is a strong fit for small remote teams that want structured rituals tied to chat, project tools, or custom API workflows. Its most persuasive reason to choose is the combination of Jira actions and a broad activity API; its clearest reason to look elsewhere is the five-person participant ceiling, alongside a free plan that is narrow for continuing use.
