Overview

TagMatiks is a modular RFID platform combining reader middleware with applications for asset and business workflows. It is best suited to teams that need RFID collection connected to ongoing asset tracking, reporting, and business systems. Its range of free and one-time-license options makes small deployments possible, while per-device enterprise licensing and asset caps are important choices to match to scale.

TagMatiks AT follows assets from receiving through use to consumption or disposal, and supports scheduled maintenance and repair. The suite also provides reader management, dashboards, reporting, analytics, read-event analytics, movement history, and API access. The modular approach is useful when a team needs more than raw reader capture, but it also means the relevant product and license depend on the workflow and device count.

Key features

Lifecycle tracking: TagMatiks AT tracks assets through receiving, consumption, or disposal and supports scheduled maintenance or repair. That makes it a better fit for equipment programs with recurring upkeep than for teams seeking only a basic scan log.
Inventory controls: Configurable asset fields, audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation help teams keep asset records aligned with physical counts. The value is strongest where audits and reconciliation are regular work, rather than occasional tasks.
Operational visibility: Dashboards, reports, analytics, read-event analytics, and movement history provide multiple ways to review RFID activity and asset movement.
Reader and device support: TagMatiks AT supports handheld RFID devices, fixed readers, portals, and all-in-one RFID devices, giving deployments several hardware forms to accommodate.
Integration paths: TagMatiks Core connects through APIs, templated database integrations, and flat files; Wedge can create a file or send data to an API. Integrations and examples include ServiceNow, SAP, Infor, NetSuite, IBM DynamoDB, Shopify, Retail Pro, and Sage. This range is useful for fitting RFID data into existing systems, though teams should map the needed path to the specific Core or Wedge workflow.
Security and support: The product uses data encryption and secure APIs and says it complies with industry standards, without naming specific standards. Standard support includes knowledge articles, quick-start guides, tutorials, and videos; Prestige adds email-based ticketing, which is the more relevant option for teams needing a support channel beyond self-service materials.

Pricing

Prices are in USD and effective June 1, 2020. The free tiers are practical for bounded pilots, but their scan and asset ceilings make them unsuitable as an assumption of unlimited production use.

TagMatiks Wedge Free: 0.00 USD per free, up to 500 scans. It is a low-commitment way to assess a limited Wedge collection workflow.
TagMatiks AT Lite Free: 0.00 USD per free, up to 99 active assets. It suits a small asset inventory, but teams approaching that cap need a paid tier.
TagMatiks Wedge: 99.00 USD per once, billed as a one-time license per RFID handheld or device; one device per license. The one-time charge is clear, but each additional device requires its own license.
TagMatiks AT Lite Bronze: 499.00 USD per once for 750 assets. This is the first paid asset tier and fits a modest inventory beyond the free cap.
TagMatiks AT Lite Silver: 999.00 USD per once for 2,000 assets. It raises the capacity for a larger tracked inventory without moving to enterprise pricing.
TagMatiks AT Lite Gold: 1999.00 USD per once for 5,000 assets. It is the largest stated AT Lite tier, so teams exceeding that asset count should confirm a suitable arrangement.
Prestige Support: 1165.00 USD per year, starting at $1,165 / year, for Enterprise Cloud Solutions. It includes standard support and email-based ticketing, making it relevant where ticketed support is needed.
TagMatiks Enterprise RFID Software: 1800.00 USD per year, billed annually per RFID device. It includes an enterprise application and TagMatiks Core, with supported devices including readers, handhelds, sleds, and printers. Because the price is per device, total cost rises with deployment size.

For plans without a stated price, expect custom pricing. The published price date is old enough that teams should confirm current commercial terms before budgeting.

Platforms

TagMatiks is available across Android, iOS, web, Windows, API, and self-hosted environments. Mobile data collection apps are available for iOS, Android, and Windows. Hosting supports single-tenant and multi-tenant arrangements; the government asset-tracking product is described as on-premise. These options give teams deployment flexibility, but the best fit depends on which product and hosting model their requirements call for.

Who it's for

TagMatiks is aimed at organizations in healthcare, manufacturing, oil and gas, retail, supply chain, and logistics. Its lifecycle controls make it particularly relevant to teams managing assets beyond a single inventory event, while the integration routes suit organizations that need RFID activity to feed existing applications or databases. Small users can start within the free caps; teams with many devices or assets need to account for per-device licensing or tier limits.

Pros and cons

Pro: Asset tracking spans receipt, use, consumption, and disposal, with maintenance and repair support for longer-running asset programs.
Pro: APIs, database templates, flat files, and Wedge file/API output offer several ways to connect RFID data to business systems.
Pro: Free entry points and one-time AT Lite tiers provide options for small inventories without an annual asset-tier fee.
Con: Free plans cap Wedge at 500 scans and AT Lite at 99 active assets, limiting their role as deployments grow.
Con: Enterprise software is priced annually per RFID device, so device count directly affects the bill.
Con: The stated prices are effective June 1, 2020, so they should not be treated as a current quote.
Con: Security compliance is described generally, without naming standards, which may leave teams with formal compliance requirements needing clarification.

Alternatives

OpenRFID Middleware is a free, open-source option with API, Linux, self-hosted, web, and Windows support; consider it when open-source middleware and those deployment platforms are the priority.
RFTrack offers perpetual on-premise and on-demand plans with Android, iOS, API, self-hosted, web, and Windows support; it is an alternative for teams comparing those deployment models.
Senitron Athena is a paid RFID option with Android, iOS, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows support; consider it when that platform mix is a closer fit.
Xemelgo Inventory Management is a paid option for teams considering an inventory management product across Android, iOS, API, and web.
AssetPulse is a paid option with a free trial and support for Android, iOS, API, self-hosted, and web.
HID Approve is a paid mobile app or SDK for consumer and workforce authentication, rather than an RFID asset-tracking substitute.
AMG Read Stream is a paid enterprise RFID inventory tracking option with cloud or on-premises deployment; consider it when those deployment choices are central.
SimplyRFID WAVE offers a Wave RFID Starter Kit at 299.00 USD per month, billed monthly with a minimum 6-month agreement; it includes support, service, a CSL CS108 RFID handheld, and Wave app. Consider it when a monthly starter kit with included handheld is preferable to TagMatiks' device-licensed approach.

Verdict

TagMatiks is a strong fit for organizations that need RFID collection tied to asset lifecycle controls, operational reporting, and integration routes into business systems. Its mix of free entry tiers and one-time AT Lite licenses supports smaller asset programs, while the main reason to look elsewhere is the need for uncapped capacity, a clearer current price, or a different deployment and support arrangement.
