Overview

Storyblocks is a subscription stock-media library paired with video editing and AI tools for creators and production teams. It suits people who want footage, templates, audio and graphics in one workflow, particularly those working in Adobe Creative Cloud. Its breadth and unlimited downloads are compelling, but the right plan depends on whether you need audio, business licensing or organization-wide coverage.

Key features

The library contains more than 10 million human-made assets, spanning footage, templates, music, sound effects, photos, vectors and illustrations. Unlimited downloads across the paid plans make it practical for teams with recurring production needs, while royalty-free commercial licensing and footage up to 8K cover a range of publishing requirements. Editorial footage is also included.

The Adobe Creative Cloud plugin lets users search, preview and download library assets in Premiere Pro and After Effects. Storyblocks also offers templates for Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve and Apple Motion. That makes it a natural fit for Adobe-heavy workflows, though it is not limited to them.

Maker is an online editor connected to the library; the Teams version adds brand kits, collaboration tools and custom templates. The AI Toolkit includes video editing, video and image generation, and voiceover on some plans. Monthly credit allowances vary by tier, so AI use is not unlimited even when asset downloads are.

Storyblocks offers API access and an MCP integration on its individual plans. Security measures include TLS 1.2 or higher in transit and AES-256 at rest. The company states PCI Level 3 compliance and can provide evidence upon request. SSO options vary by plan and integration. Business customers can contact a customer success manager or support; enterprise support is listed at enterprise@storyblocks.com.

Pricing

Storyblocks is subscription-based, with annual billing on the three published individual and small-business plans. There is no free trial. A free account offers watermarked previews, folders and Maker video creation, but not trial access to a paid membership.

Essentials — 21.00 USD per month (billed annually): One user, an individual license, unlimited downloads of 8K, 4K and HD footage, video templates, photos, vectors and illustrations, 3,000 AI credits per month, the Adobe plugin and MCP. It suits a solo creator focused on visual assets; it does not include music, sound effects or Maker.
Unlimited All Access — 30.00 USD per month (billed annually): One user, an individual license, unlimited downloads including music and sound effects, 4,500 AI credits per month, voiceover, the Adobe plugin, MCP and Maker. This is the stronger individual option for someone producing complete videos from one subscription.
Small Business — 40.00 USD per month (billed annually): One user, unlimited downloads, 6,000 AI credits per month, the Adobe plugin, MCP and Maker, with a small-business license. Coverage is limited to organizations with fewer than 50 employees and excludes agencies, production companies and broadcast companies. It is not a multi-seat plan.
Business — custom pricing: For one or more users, with a business license, unlimited downloads, admin controls, organization-wide coverage, $1 million indemnification, Broadcast & OTT and a dedicated Customer Success Team. This is the relevant tier for larger organizations or excluded business types.

The cheaper plans trade broader licensing and business controls for individual use. Check the license against your organization before using assets commercially, especially if you work at an agency, production company or broadcaster.

Platforms

Storyblocks supports web, macOS and Windows, as well as an extension and API access. Its Adobe plugin brings the library into Premiere Pro and After Effects, while the templates also support DaVinci Resolve and Apple Motion.

Who it's for

Storyblocks is best for individual creators and production teams that need a steady supply of stock media and want editing tools, Adobe access or AI features alongside it. Essentials fits visual-asset needs on a budget; All Access makes more sense when audio and Maker matter. The Small Business license is narrowly scoped, while Business is the fit for organization-wide coverage, admin controls or broadcast use.

It is a weaker fit for occasional asset needs, users who require a free trial, or organizations that cannot use the Small Business license and do not want custom-priced Business access.

Pros and cons

Pro: A library of more than 10 million human-made assets spans video, audio, graphics and templates, reducing the need to source each category separately.
Pro: Unlimited downloads on the listed plans suit ongoing production better than a per-asset purchasing model.
Pro: Adobe integration, Maker and monthly-credit AI tools connect asset sourcing with creation workflows.
Con: The free account is limited to watermarked previews, folders and Maker; there is no free trial of membership.
Con: The $40.00 USD per month Small Business plan covers one user and excludes agencies, production companies and broadcasters, limiting its usefulness for many teams.
Con: AI tools have monthly credit caps, and voiceover is not included on every plan.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Stock Video Websites, Stock Illustration Websites, Motion Graphics Template Libraries and Social Media Template Libraries.

Adobe Stock is worth comparing if you want a paid stock-media service with a free trial and plans organized around standard assets and rollover credits.
Jitter is a web-based alternative with a free tier if you can work within its cap of three workspace files and 720p, 30fps exports.
Pixel Film Studios offers free assets and a $39.99 USD per month monthly plan, making it an option for users seeking a freemium alternative.
Allavio offers free sample titles and selected templates for DaVinci Resolve 19 and above, a narrower option if that is your editing workflow.
Animdock is a free web option with no subscription fees or registration and WebM and PNG exports.
Mixkit offers unlimited free downloads without attribution or sign-up for users who do not need a paid subscription library.
ProductionCrate has a free tier capped at five downloads per day and a paid PRO plan for full library access.
Motion Array offers a free account with selected video templates, songs, sound effects and graphics.

Verdict

Choose Storyblocks if your work needs a broad stock-media library, unlimited downloads and a connected creation workflow, especially in Adobe apps. The main reason to look elsewhere is licensing fit: its $40.00 USD per month Small Business tier is limited to one user and excludes several production businesses, leaving custom-priced Business as the route to organization-wide coverage.
