Overview

Textmagic is a business messaging service for teams that handle recurring SMS and email communication with customers or staff. It is best suited to organizations that need shared visibility into conversations or automated messaging; its mix of campaigns, workflows, and two-way messaging is compelling, but destination-sensitive costs and channel exclusions may rule it out for some stacks.

Key features

Textmagic combines mass texting and email campaigns with scheduled sends, workflow automation, audience segmentation, and inbound messaging. A shared inbox and delivery reporting support teams that need to follow replies and track delivery, rather than simply send one-way announcements. MMS is supported as well. These tools fit recurring tasks such as appointment reminders, delivery updates, staff alerts, payment reminders, broadcasts, and lead follow-up.

The API offering includes REST endpoints for SMS and email, plus an MCP connector for compatible AI assistants and coding tools. Integrations include HubSpot, Shopify, WooCommerce, and Zapier; BYOC connections to Twilio, Vonage, Sinch, and Bandwidth give teams another way to connect messaging providers. That range is useful when messaging needs to join existing workflows, though it does not remove the product’s channel limits: Textmagic does not support shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social messaging, simultaneous SMS and email campaigns, or virtual numbers for OTP delivery.

Consent records and automatic opt-out enforcement address important messaging-compliance needs. US 10DLC brand and campaign registration is required for applicable messaging. Textmagic states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, and describes annual external penetration testing. Email and phone support numbers are provided for the US, UK, Australia, and Estonia.

The iOS and Android apps cover SMS conversations and contact management, but advanced features are available in the web app. Teams expecting feature parity on mobile should plan to use the browser for more involved work.

Pricing

The free trial provides full feature access, requires no credit card, and lasts a maximum of 30 days. It is a practical way to assess workflows before committing, but it is not a free plan.

Essential is priced at 0.05 USD per month and billed 100% prepaid. Rates vary by destination country, and each SMS part supports 160 plain-text characters. Because messaging costs depend on destination and message length, teams should account for those variables when estimating spend.

Essential (pay-as-you-go) is 0.00 USD per free, billed through prepaid credits, with no monthly minimum and no expiry for unused credit. In the US, SMS costs $0.049 per message; inbound SMS is free. The plan includes 10,000 emails free after business domain verification, then charges $0.003 per email. A texting number costs extra. This option suits irregular or low-volume use, but the number charge and message costs still matter.

Professional has custom pricing, with credits rolling over for up to two months. That rollover can help teams with fluctuating use, while the published plan terms do not give a price or quota to compare against Essential.

Platforms

Textmagic is available on web, iOS, Android, and through its API. Mobile apps support SMS conversations and contact management; the web app is the better fit for advanced features and campaign administration.

Who it's for

Textmagic fits businesses managing permission-based customer or staff communications that recur, require automation, or benefit from shared conversation visibility. Appointment-based services, operations teams sending delivery or staff updates, and teams following up with leads can use its campaign and inbox tools together. It is a weaker fit for businesses that depend on shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social channels, OTP virtual numbers, or running SMS and email campaigns simultaneously.

Pros and cons

Pros: SMS, email, automation, segmentation, inbound messaging, and a shared inbox support both campaigns and ongoing conversations in one service.
Pros: REST API, MCP connector, common ecommerce and CRM integrations, and BYOC connections give builders several integration paths.
Pros: Consent records and automatic opt-out enforcement help teams manage permission-based messaging; the full-feature trial requires no credit card.
Cons: Destination-dependent rates and prepaid billing on Essential make costs less uniform across an international audience.
Cons: Shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp and social messaging, simultaneous SMS and email campaigns, and virtual numbers for OTP delivery are unsupported.
Cons: Advanced features are confined to the web app, limiting what teams can do from mobile.

Alternatives

For verification workflows rather than broad business messaging, Bird Verify offers verification with no separate verification fee; channel message charges still apply, and it has a free plan.

Mozeo is another option, with a yearly Starter plan at 25.00 USD per year that includes 6,000 yearly credits, a 500-message daily send limit, one keyword autoresponder, and US or Canada coverage.

SendHub may suit teams comparing a monthly entry plan: Lite costs 19.00 USD per month and includes 500 SMS per month, a 50-recipient maximum per SMS, 100 voice minutes, unlimited keywords, API integration, and inbound messaging.

Sinch Engage offers plans with stated monthly SMS quotas and user counts, including Basics at 3,000 SMS per month for one user and Conversations at 10,000 SMS per month for two users.

Text Request is an alternative with an Enterprise plan at 575.00 USD per month, including 20,000 texts, 10 dashboards, and additional texts at $0.032 each.

Apptoto starts at 30.00 USD per month and charges $10 for each additional user; it offers monthly or annual subscriptions with no contract required.

Esendex may be worth considering for teams comparing a GBP-priced plan: Starter costs 54.00 GBP per month and includes 500 messages, a virtual mobile number, local support, a web platform, sender ID, and API access.

EZ Texting offers an annually billed Launch plan at 20.00 USD per month, with up to 500 contacts, 6,000 yearly credits, one user, a $0.04 overage credit, and a telecom fee.

Verdict

Textmagic is a strong fit for businesses that need recurring, permission-based SMS and email communication with automation, API access, and shared inbox visibility. Its broad workflow coverage is the main reason to choose it; look elsewhere if shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social messaging, OTP virtual numbers, simultaneous email and SMS campaigns, or a more predictable destination-independent bill are essential.
