Here is something that should bring cheers for fans of the Nokia brand name; the newest flagship phone – Nokia 9 is on the way and has already made it past the FCC regulations.
The FCC is also where the proverbial beans get spilled, much to our glee. And the customary visit of the Nokia 9 to the FCC also yielded much the same results. So we know the upcoming Nokia branded flagship phone will be sporting an OLED panel, all of the 5.5-inches and will be sourced from LG. That would be a nice improvement over the LCD screens that present gen Nokia comes with.
Further, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chip and will offer 128 gigs of storage. The FCC docs also revealed a dual camera setup at the rear, comprising of a 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensor. Complementing the rear cam will be a 5-megapixel front shooter as well. There is no mention of how much RAM the phone will pack in, which can be crucial given the manner how manufacturers have upped the ante on this front of late.

So far so good but the specs aren’t anything to excite new phone buyers in the new year. Buyers already have had their fill with device sporting more or less the same specs and are already clamoring for something more engaging with their next buy.
Take, for instance, there is no dearth of phones sporting the Snapdragon 835 processor, ranging from the relatively affordable OnePlus 5T to the Galaxy Note 8 at the other end of the price spectrum. Not to undermine the speed and efficiency of the SD 835 but the company is already in the process of launching SD 845 which is being considered the fastest they have ever come up with. Needless to say, the SD 845 is what new flagship phone buyers will like to see on their device in 2018, and the Galaxy S9 is already tipped to come equipped with it.

The overall looks of the Nokia 9 will also be crucial given how the Infinity display of the S8 series got quickly replicated in most other flagship phones of 2017. Anything less impressive than that and the Nokia 9 will have another bummer up its sleeve. That said, a few design render leaks we have had so far did point to the forthcoming Nokia being exciting enough, what with its black rear shell complemented by blue sides.

On the whole, the Nokia 9 as perceived from the FCC documents does not seem to be anything special and could be relying way too much on the Nokia branding alone to drive sales. As for its likely launch, that is expected sometime in the first half of 2018 itself, it at all it does, that is.
