Overview

Animaker brings prompt-led video creation together with 2D animation and production tools for teams that need explainers, training content, or branded internal videos. Its breadth is useful when one workflow needs animation, voice, localization, and collaboration; the trade-off is that free exports carry a watermark and paid plans place firm limits on generation and downloads.

Key features

Prompts can start a video, but the workflow leaves room to review, edit, and regenerate rather than treating the first output as final. That makes Animaker better suited to teams shaping repeatable communications than to anyone expecting a prompt alone to deliver a finished production.

Animation and visual creation: Whiteboard animation, AI infographics, AI asset generation, and a custom character builder cover several common explainer formats in one product. The 1,000+ animation templates and Brand Kit can help teams maintain a recognizable style across recurring videos.
Voice and localization: Animaker describes AI voiceovers with 1,000+ voices in 100+ languages, along with automatic lip sync, subtitle generation, and translation. This combination suits content that must be adapted for multiple audiences, though generation quotas on paid plans matter for teams producing at scale.
Collaboration: Real-time collaboration is available, while Enterprise adds dedicated seats, comments, task assignments, a shared company resource library, and admin controls. That makes the enterprise tier the clearer fit for managed team workflows.
Exports and publishing: Finished videos can be downloaded as MP4, GIF, or WebM, at resolutions from SD to 4K. A publish flow can upload directly to YouTube through the YouTube Data API Client.
Integration and security: The Ultra Gen API uses RESTful, JSON-based endpoints to integrate video generation into web and mobile apps, giving developers a route to embed generation rather than rely only on the editor. Animaker states that it is ISO 27001:2022 certified, follows GDPR and CCPA processes, and encrypts data in transit and at rest.

Pricing

Animaker is freemium, with a 7-day trial and paid plans starting at $15/mo (annual). The plan details below show meaningful differences in quotas and billing terms, so the entry-level annual starting price should not be confused with the monthly prices shown for Starter and Pro.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	Basic animation tools and limited premium assets; downloads have an Animaker watermark.
Basic	Custom pricing	1,500 AI video credits per month, 50 Gen AI asset credits per month, 5 premium downloads per month, and a 5-minute video limit.
Starter	45.00 USD per month, billed Pay monthly	3,000 AI video credits and 200 Gen AI asset credits per month, 10 premium downloads per month, 90 seconds of generative video per month, and a 15-minute video limit.
Pro	79.00 USD per month, billed Pay monthly	5,000 AI video credits and 300 Gen AI asset credits per month, 30 premium downloads per month, 180 seconds of generative video per month, and a 30-minute video limit.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	Unlimited premium downloads, 6,000 seconds of generative video per year, 5,000 Gen AI asset credits per year, and unlimited video length.

Free is useful for learning the basic animation workflow, but the watermark and limited premium assets constrain client-facing work. Basic raises the download and generation allowance but still caps premium downloads at five monthly and video length at five minutes. Starter and Pro suit progressively heavier monthly production, although their listed monthly prices and finite generative-video allowances make them a less natural fit for teams with unpredictable or high-volume output. Enterprise is the option for longer videos, unlimited premium downloads, and structured collaboration, with custom pricing.

Platforms

Animaker runs on the web and offers iOS and Android apps for mobile creation. Its API provides a separate integration path for web and mobile applications. The web, iOS, Android, and API coverage gives teams options across editing, mobile creation, and product integration.

Who it's for

Animaker is a strong fit for educators, individual creators, and business teams producing animated explainers, learning and development material, HR communications, marketing and sales videos, or internal updates. It is especially relevant when animation, voice, localization, and collaboration need to sit together. Teams that require high monthly generation volumes, unrestricted premium assets on a lower tier, or a narrowly focused drawing tool should weigh its quotas and broader workflow against their needs.

Pros and cons

Pro: Prompt generation sits alongside editing, animation, voice, subtitles, translation, and asset creation, reducing the need to assemble those parts of a video workflow separately.
Pro: The Ultra Gen API and direct YouTube publishing support both embedded generation and a straightforward publishing route.
Pro: Enterprise adds concrete controls for team production, including seats, comments, task assignments, shared resources, and admin controls.
Con: Free downloads carry a watermark, and premium assets are limited, making the free tier a poor choice for polished external deliverables.
Con: Starter and Pro cap generative video at 90 and 180 seconds per month respectively, and premium downloads at 10 and 30; those ceilings can constrain frequent production.
Con: Basic and Enterprise use custom pricing, so their cost cannot be compared directly with the published monthly prices for Starter and Pro.

Alternatives

For a more focused animation workflow, these alternatives may fit better:

Animaze is a freemium option for teams that want apps across Android, iOS, Windows, and API; its Plus plan is 3.99 USD per month, billed $47.88/year shown, and removes the watermark.
Live2D Cubism is another freemium option, with broad platform support and a Cubism PRO for indie monthly plan at 13.26 USD per month.
Animation Desk offers a free basic iOS plan with five brushes, three sketch layers, three sequences, and one animatic storyboard; choose it when those drawing and storyboard limits suit the work.
Mango Animate Whiteboard Animation Maker is a Windows-only freemium alternative whose free plan includes 576P video quality, 10+ dynamic characters, and two backgrounds per project.
OpenToonz is free and open source for commercial and non-commercial projects, making it an option for teams seeking that model on Linux, macOS, or Windows.
Pencil2D is free and open source, including for commercial use, on Linux, macOS, and Windows.
Plotagon is a freemium option with Android, iOS, and Windows support.
Spriter has a free version with PNG and spritesheet animation and basic animation features, for Linux and Windows users.

Verdict

Choose Animaker if your team wants one service for prompt-led video, animation, voice and localization, with collaboration and an API available as needs grow. Its breadth is the main reason to choose it; the watermark on free exports and tight generation and download ceilings on lower paid tiers are the reasons to look elsewhere if production volume or asset access is the priority.
