Overview

AskYourPDF is a document AI service for teams and individuals who need to question files, put a source-grounded agent on a website, or automate PDF form completion. Its breadth is useful when those workflows belong together; its plan quotas and sharply different upload ceilings make tier selection important.

Document chat covers PDFs and text, while website agents can draw on web pages and several common file formats. The product also connects to developer workflows through an API, a Chrome extension, and Zotero and ChatGPT plugins.

Key features

Document chat and summaries: Ask questions of uploaded PDFs or text and retrieve insights from their contents. Premium and Pro add multi-document Knowledge Base chat and summarisation, making them more suitable than Free for work spanning a collection of documents.
Website agents: Agents can use website pages and uploaded PDF, TXT, PPT, PPTX, EPUB, and RTF files. AskYourPDF says they answer only from their supplied sources, a useful boundary for source-led support or reference experiences. Embedding options include plain HTML, WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, React, Vue, and Next.js.
PDF form completion: Provide a fillable or non-fillable form plus data from another PDF, a text file, or pasted content, and AskYourPDF can complete fields automatically. This extends the product beyond reading, though the stated workflow is specifically PDF form filling.
API and extensions: The API supports PDF data extraction, document chatbots, searching and navigating PDF contents, and conversations across multiple documents. The Chrome extension can work with PDFs opened from Google Drive in Chrome; Zotero and ChatGPT plugins provide additional access points.
Security: The company says it is GDPR compliant and uses encryption and strict data security and privacy standards. That is relevant for document workflows, but the stated commitments do not replace a team's own security review.

Pricing

AskYourPDF has a free plan and paid subscriptions, plus separate API tiers. Premium and Pro show a “Start Free Trial” offer, but no trial duration; teams should confirm the terms before relying on a trial window.

Plan	Price and limits	Best fit
Free	Custom pricing. 100 pages per document, 15MB max upload, 1 document per day, 50 questions per day, and 3 conversations per day.	Occasional individual use; the daily document and conversation caps are restrictive for regular research or team workflows.
Premium	11.99 USD per year (billed per month, billed yearly). 2,500 pages per document, 31MB max upload, 50 documents per day, 1,200 questions per day, and 50 conversations per day.	Regular document chat and summaries at a modest daily volume. The 31MB upload ceiling may rule it out for larger files.
Pro	14.99 USD per year (billed per month, billed yearly). 6,000 pages per document, 877MB max upload, 150 documents per day, 100,000 questions per day, and 10,000 conversations per day.	High-volume use or large documents. It offers substantially more headroom than Premium for a small stated price difference, though teams should verify the billing presentation before purchase.
API Free	Custom pricing. 100 messages and 5,000 pages per month.	Trying API workflows within a limited monthly allowance.
API Pro	49.99 USD per month (billed per month, billed monthly). 6,000 messages and 60,000 pages per month.	Developers building API use beyond the free monthly allowance.
Enterprise	Custom pricing. Unlimited pages per document, 1,431MB max upload, 1,000 documents per day, and unlimited questions and conversations per day.	Organizations needing the largest stated document and daily-use limits.
API Enterprise	Custom pricing, with flexible messages per day and high-volume document pages per month.	API deployments that need sales-led capacity terms.

Premium and Pro list multi-document Knowledge Base chat, summarisation, Chrome extension access, and OCR; Pro also includes priority support and longer replies. Free's low daily caps make it better for sampling than sustained use. The API plans are distinct from the consumer subscriptions: API Pro is priced monthly, while API Enterprise uses custom pricing.

Platforms

AskYourPDF supports Android, iOS, web, an extension, and an API. That mix suits users who want document access across devices as well as teams embedding document capabilities in a product. The broad integration list for website agents helps it fit common site stacks without limiting the feature to a single CMS or frontend framework.

Who it's for

Students, researchers, professionals, and businesses can use the document chat and summaries to work through source material. The API is positioned for education, legal research, finance, technical documentation, healthcare, and customer support. It is most compelling for builders who also need website agents or PDF form workflows; a team seeking only lightweight PDF Q&A may not need that breadth.

AskYourPDF directs account, billing, and document-processing questions to its support team, and offers sales contact for plan questions and demos. Pro's priority support is the only tier-specific support advantage stated.

Pros and cons

Pros: One product spans document Q&A, web-embedded agents, API workflows, and automated PDF form completion, reducing the need to separate these jobs across tools.
Pros: Broad source formats and integrations make website agents adaptable to varied content and web stacks.
Pros: Pro's 877MB upload cap and high daily quotas are substantially roomier than Premium's 31MB cap and lower quotas.
Cons: Free's one-document and three-conversation daily limits leave little room for sustained use.
Cons: Premium's upload ceiling can constrain larger PDFs even when its page allowance is ample.
Cons: Pricing presentation for Premium and Pro combines an annual price with “billed per month, billed yearly”; buyers should confirm the actual charge cadence before subscribing.

Alternatives

Choose docAnalyzer if document analysis, chat, and notes with monthly credits are the priority and you do not need API access on its free Community plan; its Basic plan is 8.00 USD per month.

PDF.chat is worth considering for a lower-cost paid entry point: its Starter plan is 5.00 USD per month and includes 750 pages per month, while its free pages reset at midnight UTC and require no credit card.

ChatDOC may fit users who want a defined free allowance of 5 uploads per day, 20 questions per day, and 300 pages per file, or a Pro monthly plan at 8.99 USD per month.

Consider Anara if its extension, iOS, macOS, and web availability or its Plus plan's PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov connectors better suit the workflow.

Paperpal is an alternative in the extension and web category, with a free plan and trial.

AI PDF Reader is an alternative for users seeking an iOS, macOS, or Windows PDF reader.

DeepPDF offers a browser extension and web access, with its Pro plan shown as free during beta.

Explainpaper is an alternative for web-based highlighted-text explanations, with a free plan that includes unlimited highlight explanations and follow-up questions.

AskYourPDF also sits among AI PDF Assistants, Text Summarization Software, and AI PDF Tools.

Verdict

AskYourPDF is a strong fit for builders and teams that need document chat alongside website agents, API access, or automated PDF form completion. Its range of workflows and integrations is the main reason to choose it; its quotas, upload caps, and unclear subscription billing presentation are reasons to compare plans carefully. Look elsewhere if all you need is straightforward PDF Q&A or a clearly bounded low-cost plan.
